Okinawa is considered "unsafe to raise children" due to the deteriorating security conditions caused by the U.S. military, including sex crimes, assaults, and illegal dumping. Since Osaka is a "merchant town," there is cheating behind the familiarity, and fraud and theft are the most common in Japan.

@@shirankedo-ib8uv Osaka is a city of merchants. Therefore, people have a strong sense of money compared to other cities, and people have long sought the lowest possible price and highest quality. Also, it is one of the largest cities in Japan, and unlike Tokyo, the city is compact, so its ease of living is highly praised around the world.

Uh. Was just there. City's busy as hell with lots of tourists. Of course, for a first timer there, I went to the popular spots. I guess compared to Tokyo/Osaka or even Nagoya, it's less busy. But, just like Sara, I don't really see Fukuoka's charm. It's like every other medium/big city. I only spent the night there, so I definitely do not have the right to judge it. But I feel like a lot of foreigners love it there for their attachments rather than what it has to uniquely offer.

I'm not a huge Tokyo fan in terms of living there. I like to visit, but so, many, people. It's something I can do for a week or so. No more. Kyoto, is really pretty as a tourist, but I prefer Osaka now that I'm not really a tourist anymore.

I have been to all 47 prefectures and each has its own benefits. Hard to say wich one is the best, it is more the single places and how many they have. My favorites places are Yakushima, Ishigaki and Seto inland sea. But there are many more nice places like Gujo Hachiman, Tsuwano, Iwami Ginzan, Tsuyama Castle with sakura and all 12 original castle.
If you calculate it where I stayed the longest it will be Kagoshima, Okinawa, Kyoto, Tokyo and Hokkaido. These are the places I've been for more than a week.
If you look at the number of visits, it is Tokyo(5), Kyoto(4), Hiroshima (4), Yakushima (3), Kanazawa (2), Ishigaki (2) and Nagoya (3 times because of the airport)

I love that they called Osaka a "very grungy city." That's exactly what I thought when I got there: first, that it feels like Japan's Philadelphia, and second, that so much of the city's design sense seems borrowed from 80's Blade Runner.

Kyoto is nice, but public transport is ew.
Tokyo has the transportation and different cities with their own vibes, but you could feel lonely there when traveling alone.
Guess I'm still a Osaka simp 😂 Midosuji and Chuo lines get you everywhere, i walked through namba metro station from Dotonbori to Namba city mall to escape the sun and traffic lights (get in exit 25, go out at exit 6 or 8)! Food everywhere. Denden town for otaku. People are indeed more open, easier to chat with. And Kansai airport is not so dang big or a maze. Seeing the Ocean right and the sky left during landing is kinda fun too

Flying to Osaka is cheaper then tokyo. From osaka can go everywhere direction from shin-osaka. 1 Osaka have 5 castles, most tourist think theres only 1 castle😅 2 osaka tenma market a place by nhk tv station, catcafe, great food to eat, more localy people, and a shrine dedication to horoscope beings. 3 umeda nambai tennoji are places for great fine dining shopping, anime goods too, and gibly. Tennoji have a zoo connection by shinseikai by osaka tower. 4 local mountains from osaka is great to eat mountain food, like deep off trail in nara find mountain food.

Can I just say how much I love Sarah's 'gum town' speech error, as a linguist? It's a great example of how we don't just mixing up entire sounds/'letters' (like saying 'dumb cow-n' instead of come down), but als parts/features of the sounds, like voicing! The /g/ in gum is just a voiced version of /k/ in come, and /t/ in town is a voiceless version of /d/ in down. Love it! Okay, time to go back to the regular, delightful viewing 😅

It just has such a nice vibe and a great variety of places to see and things to do but without the crowds. Kanazawa also gets an S, 4 days was no where near long enough. I haven't seen that much of Japan, just Tokyo, Hakone, Atami, Kobe, Kyoto, Otsu, Osaka, and Nara. Kyoto was my favorite, but I spent more time there than anywhere else, and I didn't get to see as much of Tokyo as I would have liked. It was a family trip, and I didn't get much say on the itinerary. I got to spend some time chatting with a takoyaki vendor on the Doutombori, and had a long discussion of classical music with two guys running a used record store in Kobe Chinatown, the only people I met who were friendly enough to willingly engage in conversation, so I want to rank those places high as well. And of course I loved playing with the sika deer in Nara, and the Biwako harbor area in Otsu was really nice too.
I actually don't like Osaka food as much. It's good, but in as close to an apples to apples (or perhaps apples to pears) comparison as i can think of, I'm more likely to go for tempura, yakitori, or kappo than kushikatsu or okonomiyaki. Also a big fan of yakiniku and gyutan, high-end sushi, kaiseki, and of course ramen.

Kyoto is like the Japan you imagined before you came to Japan, so you should go if you want to visit historical places. Tokyo is a much more technologically advanced city, but you have to deal with the crowds. I love both though. You'll need to be smart about when you go, plan ahead, and make reservations to dodge the crowds in both places.

Call me a Basic B but Tokyo is definitely the prefecture I love the most. Obviously it has all the modern city vibes (and the food...🤤), but I love how accessible it is to reach traditional/historical sites. My trips are usually alternating days of eating/shopping in Tokyo and day trips to remote areas.
No other prefecture has as many modern / historical things to do.

20:00 about Nara and the deer. I actually heard that the deer are rlly suffering because of too much tourism. They barely have any spots to lie down, often having to do so in their own excrements. The grass is poorly maintained, which limits their food sources.
In the newer videos I’ve seen their eyes look dead while bowing to you for food.

Greetings from Switzerland! You mention Okinawa and that, maybe, people don’t know about it. I hope we have some fans of the movie ''The Karate Kid Part II'' (1986) out there as Mr. Miyagi visits his dying father and confronts his old rival, in Okinawa… Mind you, I was twenty when the movie came out in the theaters so, both of you weren’t even born. Americans related with the Unite States Air Force should also know about Okinawa as the "Kadena Air Base" is a United States Air Force base in the towns of Kadena and Chatan and the city of Okinawa, in Okinawa Prefecture, Japan. It is often referred to as the "Keystone of the Pacific" because of its highly strategic location. Happy Easter Monday!

      @RickvandeS 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

FYI it still has many military bases on Okinawa and has a strong (increasing) military presence due to it's proximity to Taiwan and tensions being on the rise. I believe almost 15% of the main island's land mass has US bases on them. Although they are not there against Japan, it's quite invasive and the island is very much influenced by the US. This is also one of the reasons it's so extremely car dependent compared to the rest of Japan.

The barbers all wore white coats but no English. Didnt matter, a couple of them examined my head and I had the best haircut ive ever had plus a shoulder and neck massage with the massage device.....my hair was one millimeter cut and styled to perfection.

I'd say Kyoto, but this year, there's been a tourist crisis. I'll wait a few years for the overcrowding to die down.

It's fine. People who are overallergic to crowds and can do nothing but complain about crowds, certainly shouldn't go. Just SO done with all the whiners complaining about how busy a place is. Jesus christ, plan well!

How do people not know Okinawa exists? I thought everyone did due to the US military base.

You won't find out the true value of Fukuoka unless you live there. Fukuoka is so livable.

This video claims to be about the prefectures, but it only deals with specifics areas or cities; it's not not about the prefectures.
