    Old World Soup is def my fav list on here! Gives a ton of variety from the different races.
    I will say I do think they lost a bit of flavour with normal human teams being able to take halflings. However this honestly seems like an easy fix. Just let Old World Alliance have one elf. Doesn't even have to be that good of an elf! Just having a member of the team Ag 2+ opens up a lot of interesting ideas and adds some more diversity to the OWA. Heck even in Blood Bowl Lore the Champions of Law had elf players!
    I really like mixed teams so I always love the versions with as many positionals as possible. Sure theres some downsides but it's part of the fun of running mixed teams! I am the mixed team player in my area. Always show up with either Underwold, Chaos Rengases and now Old World Alliance!
    Honestly I hope theres a couple more mixed teams down the pipeline for bloodbowl.

      Ohhh I think we can be sure GW will do some more mixed boxes!! Undead & Necro will be utterly bomb!!
      And yeah, getting an Elf or two would be huge!!

    • @HazelVandice
      @HazelVandice 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well the BB2 mixed teams were approved by Games Workshop, we could see some kind of implementation of them. You can say the OWA is a tweaked version of the Alliance of Goodness.

    • @MrMaxamumdes
      @MrMaxamumdes 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@HazelVandice True! That does give me more hope. I just don't really know what other mixed teams they could go for at this point. Chaos Renegades, Underworld Denizens and OWA cover a lot of the concepts. Unless they start doing stuff like maybe Amazons and Lizardmen I can't think of of mixed teams that could add a lot.
      An elf one could be cool but we basically have that with Elf Union.

    • @bunbunkitten
      @bunbunkitten 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Any elf would be an amazing superstar on any other team. It would make OWA actually tier 1, but instead, we have a dwarf team with 2 fast players and a big guy...

      @@MrMaxamumdes an All Greenskins team would add flair: Orcs, Goblins, Big Uns, Black Orcs, Snotlings, Hobgoblins, Ogre Runts, Trolls. Positionals amounts tweaked of course.

    This is the team I'm most looking forward to playing as - I like the flavour. I prefer the tree over the Ogre; higher ST, AV, has stand firm already, and strong arm for 'fling flinging (PA for tree and Ogre is the same). I don't like the dwarf runner - loner ball carrier seems bad. So, I'm thinking:
    140 - 2x RRs
    120 - treeman
    150 - 2x longbeards
    200 - 4x linemen
    80 - dwarf blitzer
    90 - human blitzer
    65 - human catcher
    80 - human thrower
    = 925k, which you could top off with a 3rd RR or two flings.
    Alternatively, drop the thrower and a lineman in exchange for a fling and the slayer and get the 3rd RR, and build a runner; lineman, fling (surehands at 12spp) or catcher are all good candidates. This will limit your plays to running only, but the passing game won't be that strong with the thrower anyway. Lineman ball carrier avoids animosity, fling carrier with surehands, breaktackle (?!), and sure feet would be hilarious. Hand offs to the catcher is going to be a key strat for OWA.

    Is this any good as a 1 box team for a local league?

  • @adamwilcox8947
    @adamwilcox8947 ปีที่แล้ว

    Been playing these in league (1w 3d) so thought I would add my 2p:
    Start with 11 rostered (Inc a halfling) and get some dedicated fans - the team is pretty resilient so you should be ok
    Always field the halfling (he is a blitz magnet which is great)
    Take all positionals apart from the runner to start so you can start getting the spp from game 1
    Roster the ogre and build the brawl around him with the dwarves, you won't be able to afford re-rolls to use on the tree if it roots and if that is turn one you are effectively down a player for the drive
    Trust in brawler but do the brawler blocks after you have secured the ball instead of before (as you would if you had block)
    The catcher is your star, get him blodge and start throwing him around like an elf, accept that he will be killed.
    Try and level your thrower game one so you can get leader - you need the re-rolls for your offense which is a bit of a struggle at the start
    Pro on the slayer is a must - helps with dauntless, surfing, GFI's and for the occasions where you double skull - go MB 2nd.
    Don't take randoms on positionals, you only have one of each and you need them to be the best version of themselves

    I don't understand why this teams human thrower costs exactly the same as the human teams thrower but throws on a 3+ instead of 2+ and has Animosity. Still it's far better than the Dwarf Runner. What is the point of this teams Dwarf Runner? Just look at the comparison between the Thrower and the Runner (Similar role gameplay wise):
    Upside Runner:
    - Thick Skull
    - No Animosity
    Upside Thrower:
    - 5k cheaper
    - Pass
    - 3+ Pass instead of 4+
    - No Loner
    Why would you take the dwarf? Thick skull doesn't counteract all those drawbacks

    • @brennand28
      @brennand28 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The Runner is more reliable for the TTM hand-offs. That's about it. I'll be giving mine Hail Mary and sitting him deep for ball recovery.

      @brennand28 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@kuvuta Understood. But you had failed to account for Animosity so I was correcting you. You were looking for a reason to take a Dwarf Runner, I've given you one. The difference is the GFI is a *possible* roll you have to make but the Animosity one is a definite. A marginal case perhaps and I won't include a Runner in my starting TV1000 build, but a case can be made.

    Treeman

    • @bunbunkitten
      @bunbunkitten 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can get 3 random skills with the SPP it'd take for one double skill (and the random skills together cost 30k TV instead of the 40k for the double). That's a lot of chances for Guard (especially for Ogre/Tree who already start with Thick Skull).

  • @bunbunkitten
    @bunbunkitten 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    You can have a roster with everything for 1000k. Well, except for bench, but it's easier to buy more 50k linemen after the first match than anything else.
    210k reroll x 3
    120k tree
    150k dwarf blocker x 2
    80k dwarf blitzer
    95k dwarf slayer
    90k human blitzer
    65k human catcher
    80k human thrower
    60k fling x 2
    50k human lineman
    Of course, some issues here:
    Tree rooting is awkward, but at least Timmm-ber means with 2 open assists, they get up most of the time.
    2 flings is fragile, so just keep fouling until one of them gets whistled off, you can hide the other one.
    Main ballcarrier having Animosity would be awkward, but your only related target are the flings/dwarf blitzer, so, uh, irrelevant.
    There definitely is never a reason to NOT take the dwarf core, they're amazing. You just have to be conservative about how early you start blocking with them, because Loner. I do really wish there was a reason to pick the dwarf Runner as well, but beyond looking cute, there isn't.
    Overall, compared to regular Humans, you're losing 2+ passing and cheap rerolls and access to 4 amazing Blitzers... in order to get three AV9 players and starting Frenzy, all with Loner. I really love the idea of the dwarf core, but this team is just overcosted on everything compared to what you get.

      Firstly - the detail there is spot on 👌
      Secondly... Halfling on the Human team makes OWA a bit of a “challenge team” like Khemri or Vamps I think!
