I've followed him since he was 9 years old - he played with the best Danish players that were two or three years older than him. He was at least a head shorter than his opponents. It was a pleasure to watch his games, never missed one I believe?
His attack is so lethal, from couple of years he is using his height very well. His retrieval game too went a notch hight. Very hard working player he is did not have a natural desguise play but master rest of it to become such a force in badminton now.
I'm very sure that Viktor Axelsen uses the Talisman on his Headband, that's why every opponent must be killed, all players must have lost but Axelsen is even stronger, I wonder if Axelsen takes off his Headband, can he still be as good as he is? that
@@greybo4034 CL's attack isn't as good as Axelsen, LD or LCW, but that's not the key because we all know that CL isn't a typical attacking player. Axelsen's speed didn't get faster overall. Only his recovery from off balance position got better and he was able to maintain better balance for the attack. CL however has better footwork and faster movement around the court. He is also physically stronger in long rally. Even 2021 Axelsen with sharper attack and confidence still struggled in long rally and rubber game. CL's defense throughout the years has proven to be able to keep Axelsen's attack in place. If they both play each other in their peak, I can see that CL will come out on top as Axelsen will eventually break down first while CL is a physical machine.
The best thing about Axelsen is his intense angle that he can produce, but you don't see it that much when he's up against players like Momota. Always wondered what made his rivalry with Kento so different, though it's a breath of fresh air that viktor finally beat Momota in the Denmark Open 2021 Final.

He literally only won one tournament, stop making him sound as if he's a god now. All he had was confidence, if other players had that confidence level, they would surpass him already. It's not skills that's stopping professional players, it's the mindset of the player that makes the difference.
Fabulous player, I like how he was able to recover from his ankle injury and rise back up again to the top after a couple of years. But I think the top players should change regularly, I think it is now the turn of someone else as Viktor has had a decent long period at the top in 2021.

Tall lanky players have had some clear disadvantages especially at bodyshots, but 9:12 shows how Axelsen seems to have overcome that amazingly well, leaving almost no weakness in his game... power, speed, defence, mental game and of course reach
ikr, his height should be a clear defense disadvantage, but instead he is really good at it. That leaving almost no weak point for him, lethal attack, hardworking play, good strategy, and good defense.

Wow, makes me proud to be his country man. My father played a few matches against Sven Pri back in the days, I was more like a steamroller on the court ha ha but enjoyed my bit of playing in the late '70 early '80.

Axelsen is invincible since wearing the HEAD BAND, try to pay attention first before wearing the HEAD BAND, he often loses to Lee Chong Wei, Chen Long & Kento Momota (Seeing Head To Head is very far) even with Ginting he is often overwhelmed, but try to pay attention carefully since he wore the headband, he became completely invincible, even Chen Long (Tokyo Olympic Final) and Kento Momota (Denmark Open 2021 Final) were made to not move at all, and yesterday as proof that a player like Kento Momota was killed lice, lost badly with a very pathetic score, even though before that Kento Momota was Axelsen's handler, so the conclusion is that while Viktor Axelsen is still wearing a HEAD BAND, don't expect any more player to beat him again until he retires, he will always be winners & champions, all BWF Tournaments & Olympic gold medals will be wiped out by Axelsen
No doubt,He is at the pick of his career but he is not facing anyone upto Lin dan,lee chong, Taufiq standards.Lee chong Wei beat him while battling with cancer( World ranking 7) and Victor was ranked 1. When legends retire it creates a huge gap.
Viktor is much better and improved today, especially mentally. Even Lee Chong Wei has said that he's different player today than what he was back then. He was also suffering a lot from injuries the last time they played each other in 2018. Basically, there was Axelsen from before: without headband Now, Axelsen in his prime: with headband.
From what I see between the number 1 (Axelsen) & number 2 (Ginting) ranking in the world, Ginting is certainly more skilled, faster and quicker than Axelsen. But those physical differences are just too great to overcome.
You must be tripping. There is a reason why you haven't seen any tall men's single players at 194 cm winning anything. Viktor Axelsen is certainly more skilled.
