    Lee yong dae
    - World number 1 with 4 different partners
    - 5x Asian champion with 4 different partners
    - 3x Asian games medal with 2 different partners
    - 6x World championship medals with 3 different partners
    - 2008 Olympic Gold medalist for mixed doubles, 2012 bronze for mens double
    - 2014 - 2016 was undisputed world number 1 without losing the rank once,
42 tournaments entered in that period
    25 finals in that period
    and 20 titles.
Absolute monster of the game. One of the uncrowned kings with the world number 1 curse definitely

He is the definition of a Korean style badminton, and a textbook for all front court players. 'Unbreakable defence and drive that catches the opponent off guard in order to get in the attack ---> Proper pushes and change of paces depending on the situation' Nobody could play as perfect as him. I really miss him on the court.

Too bad sometimes he's just not that dominant in the front court, especially against great front court player like setiawan, cai yun and zhang nan and played too much defense which sometimes really confused me and i think thats the main reason he failed to win gold medal in md but of course generational athlete and fantastic career nonetheless

As someone who have watched almost all matches of LYD since the beginning of his career, I can say his partnership with JJS was his prime. He fully respect and trust JJS back then, sadly JJS was gone too early. I still keep on watching their matches against Fu and Cai (always superb). Aside from great defense, net play and quick reflexes of YD, one of his greatest strengths is his flexibility to work with different partners and make up for their weakness. He deserves all recognitions out there.

As a Malaysian who used to train competitively, LYD is definitely my 2nd favorite player, just behind his ex partner JJS, even more than LCW, as a double player, his play is just really damn good, the way he defends, he counter attacks, the way he starts moving forward into pressuring in the front court, the placement of the shuttle when he is in the front, just the way I like to play. I started to have a defensive playstyle in doubles just because of him although I can smash quite heavily myself. I just love the feeling when my opponents smashes me, when they think they have the upper hand, but somehow I could counter back their attacks and make them the passive ones. What a legend LYD is

As I follow badminton since 4 kings era in men's singles, particularly from the emergence of LD and LCW, I have seen LYD play since he was very young. I don't want to compare peak Endo vs peak LYD as they have different peak time. Despite I personally rooting for LYD opponents including Setiawan when they play against each other, have to admit LYD had been consistent in top ranking, had faced Cai Yun/Fu Haifeng who was uber-attacking pair and Setiawan who did attack in different way.
Don't misunderstand I hate Endo or something, he is also consistent after London 2012, and been tough opponent to crack. But achievement wise, odds still against Endo. So, let's hear your opinion on how LYD doesn't stand a chance against Endo

Don't just talk about LYD, the partners he played along with is as equal to him, don't ignore them, because of the partnership only they have won all the tournaments and championship. And if he is so that good then why don't he played singles. At that time most of Korean men's doubles were awesome. So don't just praise, LYD. He got promoted more. YYS DEFENCE, and commitment was also great. So don't just talk about one half of the team.

Lee Yong Dae is vulnerable against change of pace and dropshot, but he make up that weakness with amazing defense. But Cai Yun is much better front court player the only advantage is Lee Yong Dae is much flexible, he can play front and back whilst Cai Yun not reliable to play at the back.

Lyd used to play mixed doubles, that's probably why.
I don't think Cai Yun did.
Jjs-Lyd vs cai yun - fu haifeng, were my favourite matches. So exciting 🙌
