    Great video! One thing I'll add, if you press 2 jump buttons at the same time it'll always come out as a short hop. This can make short hops easy and consistent even for newer players if you rebind one of your shoulder buttons to jump.

      Oh that’s cool. I didn’t even know that.

      This is something I've known for a while, but I'm starting to try and use it much more often. I have both Y and X as jump still, but also have it on one shoulder. So sometimes I press X and Y at the same time, but it definitely feels more natural in certain situations to use one button and a shoulder.
      Would second this comment and suggest people get used to it!

      I think being able to get that soft touch of a short hop down, rather than hitting two buttons in the long run makes your movement a lot better.

      @@chefgoldblum1450 ultimate is my first game and I learned using the macro. Even though I've learned to use one button, I still prefer to use the macro and I can perform any tech just as easily with the macro as without.

      @@Joeyratatouille to each their own. Just for fast fall short hop aerials I feel like pressing an extra button is a bit more complicated than it needs to be. But that's just for me.

    Should I switch off of tap jump? Some dude laughed at me for using it and called it sus af:/. I'm fine with it lol

    • @davec8385
      @davec8385 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      If you can be consistent with tap jump there's no reason to turn it off. A lot of people who come from melee stick to tap jump because you can't turn it off in that game. I personally turn it off but it's totally fine to keep it on if that works for you.

      Personally I play with it off so that I can input up airs without jumping but if you mostly use c stick for aerials it’s not really a problem. I do find it a bit safer to not waste a jump accidentally though with it off.

    Great video! The explanations are really well worded to allow less competitive players understand, as I I've seen pros make guides like this, but they use more advanced competitive terms, making other players less likely to understand what they said. Now a suggestion: I feel like you should go over stuff like defensive options to land on stage or safer ledge grab options and also how to condition players. I see a lot of players accidentally condition their opponent unknowingly, and never do it again, so I feel helping making players aware of how to condition would be really helpful

    • @new2you410
      @new2you410  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Oh, I really like that idea. Conditioning is super important for competitive play so that’s a great suggestion! I’ll think about that for a future video.

    And some input on turnaround downTilt, if you have a hard time avoiding the flick input under pressure (you keep dashing) you can instead flick diagonal up and to the side and you won't dash
    For the same reason, I roll my stick from up to the side if I want to walk for spacing

    The only one I don't knownis slingshoting. Is it worth learning if I'm not a competitive player? I play with friends that compete in tournaments pretty hardcore but I'd never go anyways and I'm able to beat good players without it anyways but it seems pretty pivotal as a tech for some characters, esp combo characters

    This was really good information across the board!
    As somebody that only plays with close friends or really rarely online (got a streamer setup with a great usb to ethernet connection and shilled on lots of expensive equipment to get the best connection possible, and online still feels awful) this was really inspirational to watch to improve a players movement and offensive options.
    I pretty much only play Sora as of his release and I pretty much can't play anybody else properly. I lost all my normal fundamentals and even suck with "easy" characters such as wolf or lucina, so I may try to focus back on basic movement if I even want to play them again.
    If you're ever down to play, I'm east coast and should have really good connection hard wired in. I could sit there and play offline smash 6 hours a day if given the chance, but I can't find a scene locally (small town) with a restricting job. I would like to find people to meet that could open my spectrum for playing the game.
    I play with one good friend online who does online tournaments/has been playing smash for much longer than me and I've always gotten absolutely destroyed, even after so many hours of playing with them. They can random select and beat me no problem, lots of 3 stocks.
    I'm looking to try to fix that issue and get a bit better at the game where possible! I don't even have a single character in elite smash because it was too difficult, if you can believe that.

Also, the video I uploaded right before this is about how to improve fundamentals and get into Elite Smash so you should definitely check that one out as well!
