Yep, i tried every hyped up blade there is and the Nacet was my favorite of the bunch. Tried kai, feather, Silver blues, and a ton of others but none could stand with the mighty Nacet.

Nice shave! I have never used Arko, the only sticks I have are Derby and Wilkinson Sword Blue. Have a 10-pack of the Nacet Stainless coming in my Italian Barber order. Will be a long time before I test those. Still blade testing from the 2 sampler packs I have. I should go to a Dollar Store to check out what they have there. Just a thought, instead of an against the grain for third pass do an across the grain the opposite direction you went the first time.
Arko is pretty much the same as derby. Derby smells slightly better. My 2nd pass is slightly more than crossgrain...somewhere in between crossgrain and atg. Hey, Dollar stores can have decent stuff.

It's one of my favorites. I actually like the smell. I hear people complaining about it all the time but, you really can't beat this soap in my opinion.
@@CincyShaves I totally agree. The scent is just like normal soap. If I want to smell nice I use aftershave. I want a shaving soap just to do it's job.
Good combination of razor and blade, I have both and they give a good shave like you just did. Can not go wrong with Nacet or Gillette silver blue blades in a Gillette slim adjustable razor. Your Merkur progress will work just as good but a vintage Gillette slim was used by millions world wide and they did a good job in their razor engineering department. That razor sold cheaply for under $7.00 and it was made of brass with chrome or gold coatings brand new. The gold ones were offered around Christmas time usually for presents is my understanding. Good morning Cincy! Arko is nice once you adjust to the scent and adding enough water to get a outstanding glide. I see you cracked the Arko code, nicely done. A stick of Arko is so inexpensive ($0.49 per) and each stick last me about 4 months if I would 3017 it. I find the Gillette Slim Adjustable provide a great shave. I used mine on setting 6. It just seems to work best there for me. If I use anything less than setting 5 the Slim will nick me more often for some reason. Then Nacet blades work well for me. I use them as my travel blade as I get 5 four pass shaves per each. I find vintage aftershaves perform well and smell nice too. The dollar aftershave I will buy and try, if I can find it. Alas, my recording equipment allows for only 20 seconds of video, but I will shave with the Arko, H1 Slim, and a Nacet blade. Finish with some J.B. Williams (original amber color) Aqua Velva. All the Gillette blades I've tried, so far, seem similar to me somehow. I was neither impressed nor disappointed really. Also, the plastic, pushup containers for Arko or Derby sticks are inexpensive and handy. Shave Nation and WCS have them. PAA also makes at least one pre shave stick that comes in such a container, and you can use it for Arko or Derby sticks when the product is spent.
Rockwell 6s in 316 Stainless, Gillette Nacet SS blades, Stirling barber shop shave soap. That's my hard earned formula (through trial and error of many many many blades) for perfect shaves. I have 2000 Nacets.
2000! That's incredible! I'm looking at getting that rockwell razor as well as the Parker variant. Was also looking at an above the tie(I can't remember the model). So far, three or four different blades in my Merkur progress have given perfect shaves.
You'll love the Rockwell. I have a Weber polished head and a 1930's Gillette new type open comb that I had restored in 10k Gold plating. All 3 perform very very nicely with the Nacet. I was inline for a Wolfmann when they were $185 ..I cheaped out and didn't buy one.....regretted it ever since! At any rate, since finding "my" blade, my desire to try anymore razors or blades has pretty much gone to zero. I just grab one of my three, throw a Nacet in, lather up with some frothy Stirling and know exactly what to expect...perfection!
I def love my slim adjustable. I have 2 other safety razors i dont really use anymore since i got this one. One is the as seen on tv Microtouch one and the other is a van der hagen. I still use the van der hagen blades sometimes but i bought 2 salon packs of gillette wilkinson sword gillette blades from india and they are amazing
I like the van der Hagen razor pretty well. It's a re branded weishi and I think the micro touch one is as well. A sharp blade such as a feather works really well in this razor although the Gillette Wilkinson Sword blades are really good. I bought 100 a while ago
The Stick...I also have the Arko Men Hydrate in a tube. Arko Stick was my favorite for performance compared to the Derby, Wilkinson Sword Blue, and Palmolive Sticks.
Hey cincy the slim adjustable is a great razor I did try those blades not a good blade for me I know cris from another cut above likes them and some other people I just bought 200 blades for 20.00 dollars so I’m good on blades super max super stainless have a good week
I haven't tried the blades you have yet. I have two of them I think. I have another Nest set which I'm going to try and my Merkur progress and that should tell me if I actually like the blade or not.

Not chrome Ron, the Slim is nickel plated. Gillette never used chrome plating. The gold plated Slim was called the Aristocrat.

I heard that it's no longer available in the UK. What gets us over here cost-wise is the shipping.

Nacet is a good blade. It should work well and pretty much any razor you pick.

The VDH was total shit for me. I got a Pearl and haven't looked back.

Try using a not towel on your face for 3 min , then put your lather on . It really helps . 100 % better shave .
I use a hot washcloth usually every time before I record.
Actually i like all Gilette products are so Good even shaving cream .
I think Gillette shaving cream is the best shaving cream on the market.
