Saru EMS Education try the govee led camera, I got that, it’s not as good as the sync box but for 70 dollars it gets the job done. Just watch a few videos on it
God damn...so amazing looking, but that’s a big investment once you include lights, hub, and a smart box to supplant your TV’s built-in apps. I have a PS4 but I’d be leaning toward buying an Apple TV. So that’s, what. Like, a million dollars?
I bought the sync box two weeks ago and thought I had it set up right. I was wrong. Copied this set up and its on another level. So much so that I had to go for the light strip option as well as the two play behind the TV. Excellent video thanks so much
There is a way to retain/keep Atmos, however I think it requires/restricts you to only have 1 (one) connection to the sync box. I recently bought myself a Sync box to enhance my AppleTV experience but certainly didn't want to lose the Atmos sound, and it does work. The trick is that the Sync box must be set to "Enable ARC pass through), so I have my ATV connected to my soundbar; then the soundbars ARC output goes to the Sync Box (must be in HDMI 2 or 4 I believe); and finally the Sync Box HDMI ARC goes to my TV's HDMI ARC port. Ohh, and Dolby Vision must also be enabled in the Sync App. But then it works perfectly, I now have nice light sync and perfect Atmos. I think it is possible to "cheat" the "only one connection" in the setup I have, as long as I do it by plugging additional sources in the soundbar and thus the Sync bar still only is used in one port.
tip. you can adjust each individual lamp in the hue app, not the sync app. if done so, the sync app and hue box will use those settings. also use the sync app is basicly only for adjusting some levels of intensity, after that you can save your settings in the app and refresh your syncbox app in google home, and controll everything with you voice. even switch hdmi ports by name, change intensity by voice, hell even rename your syncbox. step one, always set things in the hue apps, then return to google home and refresh the hue app.
Hello, I want to start by saying that I really enjoy your videos. I got a Philips TV 55PUS7304 with Ambilight for like 500 USD (4K android 9 TV and other nice specs) and it can connect to my Philips Hue system. My setup is made from 3 Hue color bulbs, 2 Hue Blooms and the 3 sided ambient light from the TV. All the friends that came to us loved the system and the lights. In my opinion the atmosphere it creates is better than any other TV setup.
Omg thanks for the way you explain the setup process for each gadget you review. Have been investigating how to get the best gaming setup with the sync box and it's amazing that the best explanation was found on a 3 year old video, because you are the only one to show the Sync app interface and its real capabilities.
My favorite thing is watching concerts and music videos in Intense video mode and the "Use audio for effect" turned on. I use multiple bulbs in fixtures around my living room for this and turns it into a club! For movies and tv shows I've just used the lights behind the tv, but found them distracting. I might try lowering the brightness to see if I like that better. Thanks for the tip!
When you buy a lightship and a play-bar and put it behind your tv. Then you see the sync box and you're like "sick, how much?" Phillips hue "Its only 250 dollars" Me: "25 dollars?" Hue: "No, 250!" Me: "250!!!!!!, heck no.
Thanks for the little, but very important detail, that a lot of other channels don't mention but you did. And that was the light strip will sync up with whatever is plugged into the sync box & the apps on a smart TV won't work, which is exactly how I was going to use it. So thanks for that bit of info and also saving me 250+ bucks.

Another amazing video! I'm buying a house and you are my go to for all the lighting projects I want to do! Thanks! My friend has the setup using the Hue app through a PC for a couple years and it looks amazing! He has a light strip on the back of the TV, a light strip on the floor and ceiling above/below the TV, another behind the couch, and like 3 Hue bulbs surrounding the area. It took a lot of work for him to get it perfect. I'm considering the sync box for the ease of use factor.
My first HDTV was a Phillips with Ambilight back in 2005. Glad to see they're bringing it back. But I've been looking for a solution for my Sony for a while now. I'll have to look into this.
Good vid, my Phillips tv already has ambilight built into it. Personally I think it looks worse with just 2 lights on the tv, needs to be continuous strip of zoned leds around the screen
Johni Simonsen doubt it, if for example u have a small bit of colour at the top of the screen it’ll completely stop the top corners from blending the light from screen to wall imo.
For those who don't want to spend more than 500$ for the whole Philip's Hue Ambilight system...theres is a set called Govee Immersion which basically works with a camera and has a similar Ambilight effect but is not bound to any HDMI cables which means everything playing on your TV (TH-cam, movies, games) can be lit up with individual colors on each sides...it's definitely worth trying it out as it's pretty easy to install....
Can I ask? Is it better to face the light bars facing the sides as you have? Or is facing the wall ok? Depending on your answer I might have to switch them for best output 😃
I have put it up in my small theatre room which has a projector setup. I have used LED light strip on top of the screen and play bars on the side walls but in the middle a bit away from screens behind the sofas. Work great with the sync box. With projector I only tend to loose the contrast for brighter scenes. I have tried it with lower brightness around 30 percent at the moment. The experience is just amazing.

I just saw this and know it is older but did you add the Gradient Light Strip to behind the TV? I use the Sync Box, 65" Gradient Light Strip, 5 Play's and 4 BR30 downlight. I have 1 play behind TV on bottom as lightstrip does not cover that, 2 plays on each side, 2 downlight in front and 2 downlight behind. The experience I get when watching a movie is fantastic. I am not a gamer but when my kids come over they really enjoy the lighting effects. Keep up the great work

Is that a publicly available video with the chrome ball in the middle casting light off to the sides? that would be great to test this device with. I found the box way too buggy when it came out, it's been unplugged and collecting dust since then, but this video makes me want to give it another try

Hi, nice video. I have a question. If I want to watch TV or a movie and I just want my lights to stay on "cool white" and not change colors while watching, is that possible with the sync box connected? Sometimes I want the lights synced with what happening on screen and sometimes I don't want them to and just want to leave them on a normal light setting. Does it work like that?

I'm trying to figure out the best bang for the buck that can sync hdmi devices to them like the video. Thanks!
So am I understanding correctly that this won't work for a movie I might play from Netflix, Prime Video or any other app on my Samsung TV? Would it have to be a gaming system or blueray player?
Got a similar set up and it looks great. My only issue is that seems you can only change source using the app? The Samsung tv only receives what it perceives to be 1 device via hdmi. Any ideas on how to switch the sync box input via the tv remote would be appreciated massively.
hello there. I was thinking about upgrading my system with this hue sync box but i wonder whether it'd work with a receiver. All my media player, game console and other devices are hooked up to the receiver which in turn send out the signal to my tv. Do you think this configuration might work. I hear people complain about the difficult handshake between HDMI signal and the sync box. The sync box at times might not even process the signal and it would result in a black screen. Thanks
So how would this work if you have an A/V receiver? All my inputs run through there which happen to be six of them. Would the Sync box now become like an A/V HDMI switcher and the just accepts the one input?
Hey Reed love your videos, you have really inspired me with my home setup. I've read reviews about problems people have been having after some time. How has your experience been?
So do u you recomend to to get 2 Play bars ligjts on side of a 75 inch tv instead of the gradient strip lights? The only thing holding me back on buying them is the distracting factor that people have been comenting:( great video

So the sync pc app might contain hell of viruses but I installed anyway. Actually worked nice with my pc I watched Mulan (2020) with video sync enabled and it worked through out the movie. So for my soundbar it has eARC, 2 extra HDMI parts so it acts like a receiver in a way. Where do I plug my soundbar in? It’s correctly on the tv right now.

So am I understanding correctly that this won't work for a movie I might play from Netflix, Prime Video or any other app on my Samsung TV? Would it have to be a gaming system or blueray player?
Next station: Smokescreen and explosion effect
It would be perfect lol
Didnt know this existed. Thanks for the video
Any smart lights supported by hue sync or Philips bridge other than Philips lights?
Got a similar set up and it looks great. My only issue is that seems you can only change source using the app? The Samsung tv only receives what it perceives to be 1 device via hdmi. Any ideas on how to switch the sync box input via the tv remote would be appreciated massively.
That update is supposed to be released soon. When it does release, we will be able to program the Samsung TV remote to change the Sync Box.
Dope lights 🔥🔥🔥👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾
I really would like to know if the sync box adds input lagg. (for the tv signal/ competitive gaming) sadly could find no tests :(
I love you and your videos
hello there.
Where did you get the black can accent spot lights to put the smart light bulbs in?
I got those at Walmart!
Isnt there any cheaper solution for ledstrips synch kit? Cause this seems very nice but very expensive at the same time...
I enjoyed the video!
Which hue light did you used?
Can I do Sync using Led Lightstrips? Just like Philips Hue Lightstrips?
If so, ir there any similar smart Lightstrip models/brands on the market?
i ENJOYED IT TOO!!!!!
Do you need a receiver for tv or only tv and the hue sync bar for ambilight ? I Have a sony Tv but i miss Ambilight for normal TV
So the sync pc app might contain hell of viruses but I installed anyway.
Actually worked nice with my pc I watched Mulan (2020) with video sync enabled and it worked through out the movie. Fast forward not even a day later watched a movie on Netflix (nothing) then watched a movie on Amazon (nothing). Seems Disney so far is the only service that syncs with hue (video) wise.
Any other suggestions or opinions? Thanks
Enjoyed the video!
What soundbar is that?
Hi, great test but I have some problem, I bought the box when it came out and I have a lot of problems with it, it forgets each time my synchronization box and disconnects on film, often after 5 minutes , I have all my devices connected to a home theater which is connected to the box hue which is connected to the video projector, have you ever had these problems, and would you have any solutions please? Ty for all
Is your light strip a gradient light strip or a just a regular hue Phillips light strip?
I’m in. Just waiting for Black Friday...
Great info on the Sync Box Smart Home Solver ! Watching your videos a lot this days . One question i have , can i set up this box with a Audi-Video receiver ? i have a yamaha and all my hdmi goes into that .
Where did you get your batman light and the black (up-angled) floor lamps? I have some bulbs needing a better setup.
I don’t own either of these products and yet I’m here
Haha, even if you don't own the products, they are kind of cool to look at!
Yesterday, I bought the led lights and the sync box, but I haven't been able to set it up on the app. Do I need to buy also the Hue Bridge? Anything that you guys can tell me will be appreciated. TY
You need the bridge.
Learned a lot, cheers!
So it is pretty much like a more advanced version of that Philips HDTV that had RGB lights on the back of it from over a decade ago?
This is so cool! With the extra hue light that you didn’t know where to put, but if it mounted it to the ceiling above your tv? Or behind your tv pointing up?
Great ideas, I'll have to think about those spots!
Smart Home Solver do you know of anything like this that isn’t expensive? Like any brand that does it for half price or is it only Philips?
So for my soundbar it has eARC, 2 extra HDMI parts so it acts like a receiver in a way. Where do I plug my soundbar in? It’s correctly on the tv right now.
Is it compatible with a home theater amplifier ? (how do you make the connections)
Ok I have a few questions first how do you set up the lights with the Hue box and also is the Hue box and also is the lights all you need just connect the HDMI to the TV to the hue box and then connect the lights also to the hue box and that’s it or is there is there more to it someone please reply thank you. and Yes I know that you need an app.
I have the sync box and the 55 inch gradient lightbstrip in my setup soon will ge adding 2 philips hue go light on my bedside cabinets
Then soon after a samsung dolby atmos soundbar
