@@PapalagiBlue Clearly this game is for entertainment purposes and is only using historical figures in a fantasy setting type game. That’s what assassins creed has been about. Because in real life, clearly there hasn’t been assassins and templars fighting a long war throughout history in countries such as Italy, England, France, Egypt and of course Japan. Look I’m not one to talk about anything Japanese because clearly I don’t understand the culture. But what I’m noticing is that a lot of people from other county has created unrealistic representations of other historical figures and counties that they themselves cannot fully understand either. And it never been a problem before, at least not in my view. I mean look at the (fate franchise) done by a Japanese companies, it takes legends and sometimes historical figures from other countries in a fantasy setting game and anime with its representation sometimes way off from what is typically known. But no one from other countries is offended. And I assume the people from Japan don’t see a problem with it either. What I’m trying to understand is that if this is truly a difference in culture that I’m not seeing that is making a lot of Japanese people offended by this game. Or if it just plain hypocrisy.

Don't worry, I won't buy this game. I'm a big fan of Assassin's Creed and I've always wanted a game set in Japan, it's always been the game I've wanted the most. I wanted to play with a Japanese man, a legendary samurai, not an African man whose story doesn't even have enough material to support his life. We're not going to buy this. This goes against what real fans expect from the franchise. If they don't make the fans happy, leave it alone, my friend. I'm sure many Afro-descendants will buy it (oh, they won't buy it either. Because Afro-descendants also have their own history and if they were to be represented, they would want a hero from their people and not someone who went to Japan and most of them don't even know who he is and the story doesn't have material to support his deeds). Japanese here. Yasuke was not a warrior equipped with such luxurious armor; his job was to carry Nobunaga's spear.
Moreover, he started serving Nobunaga after Nobunaga had already almost completely defeated his formidable enemies across Japan, and aside from the final incident at Honnoji, he didn't have the chance to fight with a sword.
Additionally, as many Japanese in this comment section have pointed out, it seems that the developers of this game cannot distinguish between Japan and China.
It is sad that a globally influential series like AC depicts the history and culture of my country so inaccurately with such shallow knowledge.

これでこの弥助に「ブシドー」とか説かれることになったら、自分は画面叩き割る自信あるわ。
侍が斬首するのは概ね次の2パターン。
①自分の手柄の証明のため。雑兵の首をいくら持って帰っても手柄にはならない。自分はこんな立派な人物と戦って勝ったんだ、と誇れる首だけを持ち帰る。
②地面に座り頭を差し出した人の首を切り落とす、いわゆる介錯というやつ。コツは頸椎の隙間を狙って一振りで斬り落とすこと。理由は、長く苦しまずに一瞬で意識を失えるように。さらにいえば、切り落として地面に頭がぶつかると痛いから、首の皮一枚だけ残して膝の上に落ちるのが理想とされる。
行為としては残虐かもしれないけど、当時の価値観においては紛れもなく敬意が含まれる行為だった。
とっくに死んでいるのに踏みつけて破壊したり、斬った頭をそのまま捨てていくなんていうのは、いわゆる理想とされる武士道の形からはかけ離れた野蛮な行為に他ならない。
弥助は、斬り捨てた相手に敬意はあったのかね？

@Drakaris-Og Ezio learnt to use a flying machine on the first try.... Connor learnt to captain a ship on his first try.... All these characters have a strong ability to learn some key skills that would take a normal person 4 - 6 months to get good at and years to fully master. Regardless this is indeed fiction using a character that historians have been arguing over for years on what is fact and what is fictional. So his skill levels can easily be exaggerated for the sake of gameplay and narrative.
@Drakaris-Og I do agree, his animations look very... Well unpolished. Idk if this showcases his lack of training and ability which over the course of the game will improve or if the team simply focused much more on Naoe as she would've had more development time thanks to being the only main protagonist until Yasuke was added as a main character.
But regardless I don't think it's fair to highlight characters skills in Assassins Creed. It's seems that the Assassins for whatever reason can pick up on abilities with no problems at all. Maybe thanks to their Isu DNA? Idk lol

Dieses Spiel ist ein Zeichen dafür, warum es keine finanziellen Zuschüsse geben sollte um Spiele "angepasster" zu machen. AC Shadows ist ein 4 A Rohrkrepierer, meiner Meinung nach ist Yasuke nur eine Fußnote in der japanischen Geschichte und es gäbe so viele echte Samurai die wunderbar in diese Rolle gepasst hätten.
Yasuke wäre perfekt für eine Nebenmission gewesen, in der man seine Geschichte gerne ausführlich beleuchten könnte.
Sind wir mal ehrlich wir sollen hier immer noch Assassins Creed spielen, Frauen und Männer die möglichst unauffällig durch die Geschichte eilen um den Templern das Handwerk zu legen und dann ist einer der beiden Protagonisten eine riesige dunkelhäutige Person, ich bin mir jetzt nicht so ganz sicher, aber das könnte sehr auffällig sein. Wie man im CGI Trailer sieht, deutet sogar ein Kind auf ihn und auch andere sehen ihn überrascht an. Wie wahrscheinlich ist es denn das er irgendwas tut und dann unerkannt untertauchen kann, als eine der wenigen dunkelhäutigen Personen in Japan zu dieser Zeit, vielleicht sogar die einzige.
AC war mal mein ungeschlagenes Lieblingsspiel, doch seit dem großartigen Ezio geht es nur noch bergab.
Ich fühle mit den japanischen Menschen denen man hier ins Gesicht tritt.

Even since the first one there have been people who aren't good at stealth so they got good at combat.
I prefer stealth and sometimes like to use combat, but I'm a sneaky boy at heart always.
So glad it seems Ubi has known an AC set in Japan would be seen as one of their biggest games ever and now that they did it, they truly seem to have given it a lot of thought. Hopefully they had let the devs cook on this project and make it a magnum opus of a game for AC, for Ubi and for fans

多分あれは次のカットとのつながりの都合だと思いますよ。
映像手法でイマジナリーラインっていうのがあって、弥助が画面の左ポジションで右を見てるように保つ必要があって、
多分あのカット本来は普通に抜刀してる画だと思うですが、そのカットが逆で、強引に前後をつなぐために抜刀するアップで反転させているのだと思います。
時間が無かったのかな？専用で持てなかったんでしょうね。
