I like your comparison to Lagavulin 16. Not that the taste is similar but how easily it all comes together without one note overwhelming another. Great review!
Love your Channel! Informative with a solid structure. Best of luck to you on your whiskey journey! I just poured Ardbeg Scorched Committee Release and it’s magical! I highly recommend it. Cheers and I hope your channel becomes a success! 🍻
Ardbeg with a bit twist of Pinot Noir barrel? So interesting! Solid review as usually! if can, mentioning how strong the peat taste when reviewing peated whisky will be perfect!
As usual, a good review. I really enjoyed the Blaaack. Got two bottles last year for about 120$. It has a different Ardbeg signature which I enjoyed. The Arrrrrdbeg is also quite good, with a tropical, carribean twist (wholly matured in ex-Rye casks). But as you mentioned, limited edition, so the prices will only increase and probably not worth it if its over 130$. I would prefer the Longrow 13 red (also Pinot Noir finished). That has a better balance between the jammy, tannic wine notes and the subtler Campbeltown smoke and brine. I highly recommend that one if you haven't tried it yet. The Laphrpaig 2020 Cairdeas port wine finish, is also something I would recommend. I enjoyed that one as well (I know you have your reservations against Laphroaig).
Yeah in all honesty I probably won't be picking up that Arrrrdbeg. Those special release prices are always pretty high in Taiwan. I've been curious about that Longrow for some time, but that's one that I can't find in any of my local shops. As for Laphroaig, I actually want to like them. Just haven't been impressed by anything from them over the last few years. I'd still give it a go.
Someone likes their peat! 😉 The only one of those I've got on the shelf currently is the Laph Lore. I'll see about getting a review out for that within the next two or three weeks. 🥃 As always, appreciate the feedback!
You butchered that Maori 😂😂 I doubt they would have used the Cloudy Bay Pinot barrels - most probably sought out some Otago barrels along the lines of the Longrow Red Pinot Noir release. Ardbeg just annoys me with these 100’s of special expensive releases - I’ll stick to simple old Wee Beastie and get my peat kicks elsewhere... Cheers
As if dealing with Gaelic every other week wasn't bad enough! 😂 Yeah admittedly the Cloudy Bay bit was just speculation, could be from anywhere. I happen to agree with you about these special releases from Ardbeg. Had a few of them and they're rarely worth the price tag imo.
Wow, I thought I will hear , peated, band-aid, medicinal , but you got salty and smoke, I have never tried that one, I have the rest of the core rage, and I always find that in all of them and it's the reason I am not a fan of Ardbeg,
Oh plenty of peat, band-aids and medicinal notes to be had in this, too! Ardbeg house profile definitely on full display. Sorry to hear you're not a fan of the range. I'm less of an Ardbeg fan than I once was, but admittedly I'll always have a soft spot for this distillery.
A couple more suggetions:
Port Charlotte 10;
Lagavulin 16 x Lagavulin 8.
Cheers!

Oops! Just caught this comment. Thanks Tony! Appreciate the encouragement!

Noted! It's a great dram, but be aware that it's not great value for NT $4000.

It costs even more than that here! 😒
