Deserves to be heard mire often. A very gifted and intuitive composer with hyper-romantic melodies, lush harmonies with an edge, and a spontaneous sense of nature and color.

Do you know any of his other works? I don't know why he's been neglected post mortem! I think I am the one-man Marx fan club

Joseph Marx is one of the most underrated and forgotten Austrian composers in the 20 century. A highly gifted musical personalitiy like Max Steiner. I always hear his undeniable musical language, which is influenced by the Austrian, Italian and Russian culture. I saw his grave in Vienna in 2017. He was buried at the Viennese Central Cemetery (Der Wiener Zentralfriedhof). I hope that the world will discover one day this composer and his ingenious music!

Another wonderful composer I have never heard, or heard of, before. Than you for uploading this, and I'll try to listen to your other uploads of Marx

Nature trilogy probably his best. Also Spring symphony and piano concerti.

Another intensely lush, tuneful, orchestrally-colorful work by Marx. His music has a very attractive late Romantic, Impressionist, pastoral harmonic language !!! The Austro-Hungarian Empire seems to have been an important "cradle" (or center) of continued development of tonality and virtuoso, coloristic orchestration, which likely influenced both the emergence of film music and the continued development of post-tonal concert music --especially that which freely admitted a pervasive use of triads and consonance ! LOVE Marx !

Agree! And yet almost never heard in the UK, can't see why. I've emailed R3 several times too.

@@milessmith9703 Hello, Miles, and thanks for your comment ! Some orchestral music by Marx seems to "follow" the pastoral, glorious, aesthetic of greats from Delius and RVW to Finzi and beyond. The harmonies seem to portray some magnificent, natural vistas ! I feel anyone that enjoys music by these British composers would likely enjoy Marx.

@@hectorbarrionuevo6034 an interesting comment for sure. The outer movements are a bit RVW and I get the Delius reference; a little bit of Korngold too. It'd be great to hear him at the Proms but even when he was alive, the Proms performances were very few. Our BBC R3 is pushing neglected BAME, female composers whose works contain some real gems but that pushes JM out, unfortunately.

Gorgeous late-romanticism, some parts of which are reminiscent, to me I should stress, of Korngold and Arnold Bax.

I did an intense internet research and i cannot find any digital copies on CD or as MP3. Did you get that recording directly from Berkant Haydin? Is it possible to get any copy of that? TH-cam only provides the music as 240KB/s which is not a very nice quality.

Exquise! Merci beaucoup! Peut-être le titre du troisième mouvement devrait être "Ruhig fließend" ou "Ruhig fliessend"; c'est à dire "flowing peacefully"?

I don't think it's his best work but it contains many Marx hallmarks and the inner movements are fine.
Sadly here in the UK there is no Marx which is a great shame: I've messaged the BBC but without success; I sing in the BBC National chorus of Wales and mentioned him to various conductors but he seems unknown.
It's so good to hear a C20 composer whose work was original and accessible and I think the Nature trilogy is his finest set of pieces, although the last movement of Castelli always makes me smile; has anyone noticed the Albeniz tune which is very similar? not sure which came first!
