      It started off great, but that chorus killed it for me. I miss the first two albums style where they didn't get so melodic. I remember when Prayer came out I thought ok, this isn't terrible. It fits. Then it got even more melodic from there. They started sounding like Daughtry to me after that.

      I thought it was quite cheesy but that’s probably cause I’ve been listening to more metalcore than this. It’s more of a “RAOW” than a “Rawr”, and they HEY YOU lyric I found to get extremely annoying after a while, honestly, I couldn’t even finish the song upon first listen I had to go back and revisit and once a full Playthrough was done it wasn’t THAT bad… hoping the rest is better

    • @CommanderCodyChipless
      @CommanderCodyChipless 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@WindyCityNick So my musical history is that I listened to them when I was young, when I didn't have the capacity to understand music fully. Then at age 16 I moved to Texas, met some friends and they showed me 3 bands. Thy Art is Murder, Rings of Saturn, and Infant Annihilator. I became a deathcore teen. Then shortly after found a band called Periphery, which then got me into a whole new section of prog or djent metal. And then from there I filled in all the blanks, starting listening to classic rock again, got into a little country, became a huge fan of The Weeknd and music like that. Hardcore, death metal, all the weird sub-genres like grindcore, doom, etc. so on and so forth. Now I'm about to be 27, and I have such a different perception and a raging amount of appreciation for music and it's nuances. When I eventually started to listen to Disturbed again, it was like I was listening to them from an alternate reality. I started to realize how great the guitar work is, how the entire album as a whole is very conceptual with it's unique sound. I started to appreciate the singing, as over the years I started to understand on how to be able to focus in on someone's singing and take out the actual sound of the voice and only concentrate on the notes, the rhythm, the techniques and the resonation. The only part of Disturbed that is lackluster to me are the drums. The drummer isn't bad, he just doesn't add anymore than what is necessary to follow the guitars. But get a badass drummer in Disturbed like 66Samus or someone, then that would be dope af

    The chorus feels weird because they're sitting on the V chord in the minor, then went to the major I instead of minor (which would be III in the minor key). It resolves immediately to minor again, but it's jarring enough to get your attention

    I this the last “new” song I heard from Disturbed was “The Sound of Silence.” I’m sure they have had new stuff since then. This was a pretty good song. I’d give it another listen. Hope you’re well, Nic!

    I love disturbed for the fact that they are so accessible for people just getting into metal. They're heavy and hard but still have a very easy/clean sound to them compared to a lot of the newer core or heavy metal bands. They definitely hit a sweet spot for a solid beginner metal band that can also still be super enjoyable by longtime metal heads aswell

    The music video is so genius. the puppet master guy is basically the government who is being fuelled/made stronger by the two people fighting after being brainwashed by the media. When you get that about the video the lyrics make it such a more powerful video and song.

      Howard is an absolute god with vocals, completely gutted when he parted ways with Killswitch.. light the torch is good and all but it will never come close to singing my heart out to the end of heartache with him. Maybe im biased as i grew up in that era.. who knows, regardless he is a killer musician.
