Normally I don't notice or care much for performers. I think they get too much credit that the composer deserves. But Alfred Brendel is the exception. He makes the music sing and enters so entirely into the world of the composer. I can't put my finger on it but the reverence is definitely there
Magnifique ! Cette sonate est géniale, et malheureusement méconnue. Le tempi sont plutôt convaincants... même si on pourrait jouer le deuxième mouvement encore un peu moins vite. En tout cas c'est beaucoup plus respectueux des indications de Beethoven que chez la plupart des pianistes : on entend souvent ce deuxième mouvement (indiqué "Allegretto" !!!) comme si c'était un stérile exercice de doigts, même chez les plus "grands"...
Tout à fait d'accord, d'autant plus que Beethoven a ajouté "dolce". Richter est hors-sujet même si sa perf est impressionnante... et puis comment on joue le "piu allegro" de la fin si on est déjà à toute berzingue ? C'est le même problème dans l'impromptu en mi bémol de Schubert que tout le monde joue trop vite.

Dans son livre "réflexions faites" Brendel parle assez longuement du "in tempo du minuetto".
