Finding quality videos with a knowledgeable instructor showing techniques in the round can be challenging. Thank you for taking the time to share and helping us all get better.
Thank you for this fantastic tutorial! I love that you repeat the steps over again so that we have time to absorb them and that you work at a pace that we can work the stitches along with you. Your technique gives a perfect result. The only sad thing is that now I want to go and collect all of the garments I've bound off with jog-y icords over the years so that I can fix them! 🤪🥰❤
Thank you so much for making this! I love that you not only just show us what to do, but you explain the reasoning behind each step. This was so helpful!
To kolejny Twój tutorial, który mnie nauczył nowej techniki Wspaniale, czytelnie i cierpliwie wszystko dokładnie pokazujesz i tłumaczysz ❤ Z pewnością będę wracała do kolejnych Twoich filmów Pozdrawiam serdecznie ❤
Beautiful work, I love this technique. Thank you so much for the clear, calm, perfectly-paced instruction. Different from the other two videos I watched, so glad I found you. Thanks again😊
Irina, thank you! This video is incredible. It is filmed so well, your pace is fantastic, and the instructions are so clear. I just knit my first ever I-cord onto the cuff of a sweater, and it’s perfect. Sending you love and gratitude 🙏🏼 ❤
It was a pain to switch those two stiches before kniting them together but it was worth the extra time. I decided to just bind off the end of the cord on my own. After I felted my hat I had a knot that ruined the brim . SO ! I managed to undo the end and will dutifully follow your instructions. I plan on linking your video in my comm ent section for my top hat in Ralvery. Thanks so much !
Thank you so much for this tutorial. This method is the cleanest (nicest) icord finish I've tried. Thrilled with my icord bind off sleeve. Thank you, again.
Hi Irina! I’ve recently discovered your channel and feel so blessed! Your work, techniques and videos are exquisite. I’ve just finished knitting my first cardigan and used I-cord to go around the entire neck, edges and hem. It’s so beautiful thanks to your teaching. Please keep more content coming. Subscribed and sending so much love and gratitude from Missouri in the USA. 🙏🏼💖
Thank you so much! I can't translate to other languages, unfortunately. TH-cam sometimes provides translations if you press the "settings" symbol. I try to make videos as clear as possible to minimize the need to explain what is done.
I am going to create my own cowl, and want to cast on and bind off with an icord stitch. Do you recommend going down one needle size for the cast on and bind off process? Your videos are excellent tutorials.
Thank you! Yes, I would first make a guess for the c/o needle size based on my stitches hight/width ratio (using the gauge for that) and would definitely do a swatch, especially for c/o.
Hi Irina, love your video, very clear and explanatory. Just one question, would you use this method if you started the icord bind off by adding 3 stitches at the beginning of making the icord. All the patterns I've done, they say to add 3 stitches with the cable cast on method and continue from there.
I think, I would probably follow the pattern instructions if it were critical for a specific look or style. If there is no important benefit in following the instructions, I would do it my way, because it is easy and looks good. By the way, another alternative could be to add 3 stitches with a provisional c/o, then remove it and reconnect the stitches like I showed in the I-cord cast on video on my channel. See which method you prefer and what makes your project look best. ❤️
If I want to use this method in a cowl to begin with a provisional cast-on work the project and bind-off with this method then undo the provisional cast-on and do the bind-off, how much yarn do you think I have to reserve at the begining of the cowl for this bind-off? If my number of stitches is "x" the number of stiches involved in the bind off is x+3+3+3.(3sts in the beg of the bind off, 3sts in the end of the bind off and 3 sts for grafting). So my length of yarn will be (x+9)×y? Wher "y" is the length of yarn for 1 stich. Phiu! Such a long question! 😁😁😁
Great timing and a great and a very practical question! I haven’t frogged the sample swatch yet. I unraveled the I-cord back to the beginning of the row. Here is the result: for 40 cm/16 in of the length of the row I used 520 cm/204 in of the yarn tail (including approximately 20 cm/8 in for grafting/needle/extra room). 520cm - 20cm =500cm, 500:40=12.5 This means 12.5 lengths of the row plus 20 cm extra. So I would reserve this much yarn at the beginning of the cowl to use later for binding off. Let me know if it made sense. A very long answer! :)
When connecting in circle, which stitch is the first horizontal stitch? Is it the last stitch we just created? I am a little lost here at the very end~! Thank you in advance!
Hello! There are 3 "first" horizontal stitches - the ones that were made at the very beginning to avoid a slope. You connect the three last stitches of the I-cord with those three first stitches.
Thanks!
Thank you so much, Allison! I appreciate your support!
