I've been wanting a Moto for a long time. As soon as this came out I pulled the trigger. I am so stoked!! I'm new to the game and this fits me perfectly. Just hit 400 miles, did 100 miles of back country here in Oregon yesterday and it was a life changing experience!! I'm in Love

I feel like I understand this bike because I'm the target audience. They aren't competing against other manufactures, they're competing against the used market. You never see this in the car market, they seem to given up the budget market and left it to used vehicles.
At that price you can buy a used bike with more features, but you wont get to be the original owner, you wont get a warranty, you wont get assurance. I'm willing to give up a few features if I can buy new from a reputable company.
But there isn't much room to raise the price. Once your selling it for the cost of a better used bike and then some, I could just buy the used bike and have money for repairs and come out ahead.
All the dealers where I live are setting up a waiting list for those who want it. Right now, the bike is in high demand.

@@dg8676 In most cases I agree that’s the norm. We have a good relationship with our dealership and we believe that the supply chain shortage is real on this bike.
This bike is agile, this engine is the "OHC" with a cam chain, renowned in Brazil, and all over the world... you can buy it without fear... besides being economical, it can handle a lot of sticks... the engine is almost indestructible and very low maintenance... you can do the maintenance yourself at home and you can even do the engine at home by looking at the step-by-step assembly and disassembly of the engine on TH-cam, if it melts, which is very difficult... just change the engine oil at the right time and you will have a motorcycle for life...

The KLX 230 and Yamaha XT 250 come to mind as does the Honda CRF300L. This 150 hits a good niche of smaller displacement.
I agree, I also ride a DRZ400, bought the XR150L and it's perfect for that smaller nitch. I'm in my 60's, just wanted something more nimble for these Yosemite backroads.
I live in Alaska and this bike was perfect for me. The used market is way overpriced here. 10 year old bikes for over what I paid. New bikes in the same segment were easily 2k - 3k over this. The simple construction means I can actually do the maintenance myself.
I agree I can easily repair and maintain this xr150l myself. Unlike my GL800 At 65 yrs. old I want a licensed mechanic to fix that beast.
Where I live the dealers are marking them up, some close to $4,000!

Honda Xr150L is very reliable and durable bike here in the Philippines since 2016, its upgraded a little bit in terms of colors, design, but still the Honda name, body, and engine is still there.. Japan motorcycle the best 👍

It will do 65 mph on the dyno, but not in real life because of wind resistance. I've seen 60 under ideal conditions but it's really a 50 mph bike that can hit 55 under good conditions but it's pretty topped-out.
I hit 60 downhill, but it was getting squirrly.
@@bobfrancis2573 I discovered that the speedometer is off by 5 mph. When the speedo shows 50 you are doing 55. It's a good 50 mph (55 gps) bike. Above that and it gets hard to hold 55 on the speedo (60 gps) unless under good conditions. I can hit 60 on the speedo (65 gps) but you can't hold it there. Any wind or slight up upgrade and it deteriorates pretty quickly. 50-55 on the speedo is where it really belongs.
I don't know how the asian version differs from this but at my place this is like 1800usd converted. This video makes me want to get one.

62 w/ my current limitations this is about all I need. And feeling the wind, smelling the grass/trees. Bingo!

Intriguing bike all around. Strange how it can handle the weight of a adult passenger yet the rack in back is only rated for, I think, 11lbs. Any thoughts on that disparity? Roughly 10-12" farther back than the passenger seat and the weight rating isn't even a fifth as much. Curious why?
probably a liability issue. It seems pretty sturdy. and I have had easily twice that on it. I have a top case plus I stuff that thing all the time
They're pretty sturdy, I could imagine you can get a bit more on it plus you can offset a bit on back of the seat. I'm a 250lb woman and have gotten about 20lbs strapped on the back no problem
My XR 150L has been my daily commuter bike since 2018. Its cheap, reliable and easy to maintain

You forgot to say it still has both the electric start and kickstart in case the battery dies, or you lose your keys on the trails.
It doesn’t have kick start in the US.

32.7" is not really a low seat height. For a dual sort it is but still rather tall in general. I'm 5' 10' with a 30" pants inseam and I can flat foot it but not by very much. Overall it is a very capable dual sport bike within its intended purpose. My first street legal bike was a 1971 Honda SL125 and this is its modern recreation (heavier, better suspension, electric start and smaller wheels/thicker tires). Definitely not a speedster but overall a competent performer.

it is my work horse ..21.2 miles each day to work and back all back roads 45mph speed limit and $100 for foot pegs were you at California try $11 for a nice set that for great .

I feel the same. Something about the fender and radiator shroud wing things gives it a bit of chinese cheepo bike look. I'd probably be able to get over it for $3k :)
"Under three grand". Damn! You cant get a solid used bike under three grand here in Europe. And of course this one is not available here either. All the cool motorcycles are discontinued in Europe too. Europe needs some small dual sport motorcycles, and it seems like nobody has noticed yet.
its the emission control issue. At least for the Xr it's carbureted and as lean as it comes in the US it probably still is not clean enough for the EU

I wish someone would take about the transmission. On the Honda web site I thought they said it was automatic with a dual clutch.
It does not have an automatic transmission.

No fuel injection, anti-lock brakes... but for the price, I'd buy one. At least you don't have to pedal it. At least not until you try and sell it.

The specification says that it is 149 cc motorcycle. Is it legal to drive this in California freeway as California freeway cc requirement is 150 cc. Please respond..
Not technically legal on the freeway but you probably wont be caught 🤷🏻♂️

I see Groms on the freeway in Santa Cruz all the time. The traffic is so bad it’s the perfect bike for hopping on HWY1 and splitting lanes to get across town.
Get a bbk and bump it over 150cc lol .... they take gross and get them to 168 or 191 lol
Stupid idea to take on the highway
This would have been a great bike for the beginners as well as a perfect commuter transportation with its low economy.
The only problem of this bike is the tires & the size of the rims which are quite a weird. It would have been better if they have followed the rims of the dirt bike & put an at least a more grippy tires for the off road. Beside those 2 major problems, I think the overall looks of the XR150L is quite outdated. I mean Honda could have done better than that.
Is that Honda considered 2023 or 2024??

$2971 msrp is a joke, because alot of stealerships across the country are causing these bikes to be 4k out the door, alot of Americans will not find this so cheap for a 150cc bike with 30yr old tech, also theres nothing new about this bike, its been around for years in developing countries for under $1800, but when this very same bike hits the united states the price doubles and triples?? If it can be purchased out the door for under 4k then maybe!! But 4k and over out the door its not worth it and thats for sure. To be honest the bike is not worth 3k, but we are known for spending money we dont have because we will just print more, pathetic and sickning 🤮🤢

I absolutely love my XR150L, I also own a DRZ400, but this 150 is so nimble & easy to ride. I absolutely hate the footpegs, they gotta go!

Yes…. A carburetor..!…. Those of us who truly appreciate the “ old “ bikes have fun working on them. If you DON’T know how to “float” the carb’ well you’re missing something. Those were the times when you actually worked on the bike. These bike now days leave us “ old folks” remembering how we used to work on them. If you want a bike nowadays that you have to take it to the dealer to do everything…. Then you AREN’T a real bike owner
@@DonnaRoushall I had a Honda dirty bike that I did clean the carburetor on. It didn't take much time, but i'd rather not do it. I broke down and had a shop do my Honda Magna's 4 cylinder though.
