Even if you are trying to race it, i would still take some sort of cook kit(for safety’s sake/morale booster). You never know when things will go sideways, a hot cup of tea will go a long way to keeping your core warm and a smile on your face. Like the wind!
Thanks for the comment! Curious what safety benefit you're suggesting a cook kit will provide? I'd rather carry a pound of food rather than a pound of cook kit. I didn't carry one last year and didn't miss it.
Good luck! 🎉 Id love to hear a post race review of these decisions. Im vacillating between bike tent or bivvy. Being a self supported ride over 2500 miles having a shelter for possible horrible weather seems wise. I pray the weather gods are kind to you all!
Excited for your coverage this year, vibe of your videos make it feel like it’s an important one. I’d like to make it to a grand depart one day… much love from Scotland ❤
Dig the shelter (tarp + bivy). How low a temp do you think you can go with your 40* bag, bivy, and your down pj outfit? I'm thinking you've had a cold night or two if it's been in the 30s or 20s. Also, what pole are you using? Collapsible, I presume. I'm looking for one that folds down to small sections to better fit in my bags. Or many just using my bike to prop up the entry to the tarp and ditching the pole altogether if I don't find an appropriate one (but many companies make foldable poles, so I'm thinking I could likely find a good one.
SO AWESOME! - One day it might be me ! Cheers from Denmark!
Respekt. Chapeau. nice Bike . keep on filming and biking

Great info- curious how the bivy/tarp setup was throughout the tour divide. I'm in the process of upgrading my sleepkit and looking into tarp options.
Good luck! 🎉
