Last year on Tour Divide I brought just a bivy for shelter, this year I'm adding a tarp to give me some rain protection.

For as long as I've been into cycling (post-BMX) I've known about Moots. After moving to Colorado in 2015 I began seeing them pretty frequently and toured their factory in Steamboat Springs in 2018. Ever since that tour I've dreamed of owning a Moots, unfortunately the price tag of a new one a bit more than my budget currently allows. So I did the next best thing... collected parts and slowly b...

Fatbike Recipe for Fun: 30mi, 5PSI and chill for 3hrs at -5°F. Join me for a 3 hour cold plunge. We typically only get a few sub-zero days a year here in Boulder, Colorado so I grabbed the fatbike for some freezing fun. When I first set out I was hoping to be able to ride for an hour but I let curiosity get the best of me and stayed out a bit longer. 0:00 Intro 1:20 North Sky Trail 2:30 Eagle T...

White Rim Trail - Mineral Bottom Descent
So good. Thanks.
This looks so good! Thank you for posting!
ive never seen that frame in my life but i know now that it is the holy grail
It was great to meet you day 2, bud. Hope our paths cross again. Tour Divide 2026.
Togs are great
How do you like this bike? I was hearing in reviews that the front end is harsh offroad, but that may be because it comes with 38mm tires.. Saw a complete waheela c online for $2700, definitely looks worth it.
Is your blacksheep fork steel or Ti version`?
Respekt. Chapeau. nice Bike . keep on filming and biking
The long stink. You should slow down and learn how to enjoy the ride and the area you ride through.
I have the 1972 R5C 350cc version! Looks identical to your bike with the same mandarin orange scheme. Such a joy to ride!
Whats that for a vest/bagpack?
Great info- curious how the bivy/tarp setup was throughout the tour divide. I'm in the process of upgrading my sleepkit and looking into tarp options.
What kind wind breaker is that? Need to get something similar for high elevation rides
Yo!!! I stumbed to your page bc I'm building up a waheela right now and am fully obsessing haha. Sweet vids/bikes dude! I've also been obsessing over this route and would love a follow up vid! I grew up in Fort Collins.. I knew those mountains looked familiar
Can you do a follow up video on your Tour Divide setup? Would love to learn from your experience and I'm curious about what worked and what didn't. Cheers!
Props for filming in a rink :)
SO AWESOME! - One day it might be me ! Cheers from Denmark!
Is it single speed or geared hub?
Hope it is going well!! Canyonlands Camo is a way better name than burnt orange
Just the two feed bags for food? Is that enough between stock up points? What do you like to eat at camp?
Really impressed with the apparent snow traction, and smooth camera view on a ridgid fork with those mars Race tires.
Nice set up, but I would wear your Garmin outreach. If you had an emergency and you were separated from your bike you would have your inreach on you to call for help. Have a great race.
Good luck and most importantly enjoy yourself.
Good luck! 🎉 Id love to hear a post race review of these decisions. Im vacillating between bike tent or bivvy. Being a self supported ride over 2500 miles having a shelter for possible horrible weather seems wise. I pray the weather gods are kind to you all!
Dig the shelter (tarp + bivy). How low a temp do you think you can go with your 40* bag, bivy, and your down pj outfit? I'm thinking you've had a cold night or two if it's been in the 30s or 20s. Also, what pole are you using? Collapsible, I presume. I'm looking for one that folds down to small sections to better fit in my bags. Or many just using my bike to prop up the entry to the tarp and ditching the pole altogether if I don't find an appropriate one (but many companies make foldable poles, so I'm thinking I could likely find a good one.
Have a great ride Justin. I'll be rooting for ya!
This is a great channel. I stumbled upon it and am so glad I did as you are very easy going and relaxing to listen to/not pretentious. Will be following you along on your epic ride.
Such a sweet bike! Enjoy the ride!!
I can’t believe how cool that bike is
Fixie Dave here, Pretty solid setup ! Look forward to following you
Cane creek ti cranks when🤪🤪🤪
why not suspension fork/stem? Mooto🤤🤤
Also will you ever use a rear/front rack next year?
Have a great ride! Good luck!
Pumped for you, have fun out there.
Hell yeah! I plan to.
Good luck Justin, you had a pretty sweat ride last year. It would be interesting to hear the changes you have made and why. As an observation, you seem to have heavy things on the very front of your bike and your tube in a soft bag on the most exposed part of your bike.
Thanks, I go over specific details in the upcoming Bikepacking.com article. Looks might be decieving... my front pouch is only a kilogram, the roll only another 2kg... all in less than 3, seems fine to me. And what specifically are you worried about the tube for? I've ran my tube and repair kit in those same cordura bags, in that same location for years... including last year's ride.
Wow singlespeed Divide?! 😳💪💪💪 Beautiful frame.
Thanks! One speed, one dream!
my bike is too heavy
haha... even though I'm pretty tidy I still feel overloaded too.
Nice bike I like it simple and reliable! Good luck and nice weather on the road.
Bingo, thanks... weather is always the big man in the boxing ring.
Good luck, loved the build videos and know it can handle anything the trail throws at you!
Heck yeah, thanks for the hype!
Look forward to seeing you on the start line. Great set up.
Thanks! Say hey if ya see me around.
good luck mckinney!!!!! <33
😘
I see moots, i click. Good luck out there 🤙
haha! thanks!
Hi - good luck on your trip. How did you hook up your headlamp to your helm? It does not seem to be via the helmet attachment hooks that you can buy for the HM50R headlamp
Thanks, I just reused the strap mount that it came with... just used velcro to strap it through my helmet.
Best of luck on the Divide. Hopefully the balance of challenge against fun swings in your favor. ☮
Thanks... gonna find the fun in the challenge this year.
Good luck! That is an awesome bike, looking forward to seeing your experience brought to life for us mere mortals to enjoy.
Thanks! It'll definitely be an experience.
Nice Justin!! - Looks like you're a lot more minimal than last year :) Look forward to seeing you in Banff in the coming days. Cheers (Steve from NZ)
Hell yeah, Steve! My kit feels tidier but somehow I'm bringing more stuff. Are you already in Banff? Safe travels and we'll see ya in a few days.
@jjjjustin no, just at Auckland Airprt ready to board my flight to San Fran and on to Calgary. Will be in Banff from Monday night.
I'm taking my trusty 2012 Mooto-X on the Great Divide at the end of July. It's the same design as yours with that extra gusset in front of the seat tube. I've also switched to a rigid fork, for ease of maintenance. I think the YBB's were made for the GDMBR.
Wow, good choice of music!
Nice video, thanks! Have a great TD ride, looks to me like you're all set. ☮
Thanks! As ready as I can be!
Good day my friend, I noticed you're in a Colorado I was like this looks like my hometown...lol I was wondering if you still owned the bike? If so I just purchased one and had a few questions for you Returning to the bike and jetting it for altitude
