    Just got my new '22 pivot switchblade xt/xrt in Bass boat blue. Love this bike, handles so awesome in all areas. Thanks Chris for the redesign of the switchblade ...built from a riders point of view. I lived in Phoenix and know the desert area. I live in Southern Colorado now. The switchblade is the perfect bike. Thanks for the video, people want to hear what you have to say about the switchblade.

    Brought mine home on March 31st. Put about 6-700 miles on her since then, mostly as a lift park rat. Chunky, off camber, slick, snow, mud, slop, extremely steep and loose DH, massive jumps, miles-long climbs, rock gardens, switchbacks.... anything. Point it at anything and pull the trigger. The frame is remarkably stiff and responsive even under weird G-loads. The suspension leaves absolutely nothing to be desired, the custom tuned DPX2 is the best iteration of that shock ever.
    So basically I’m tattooing this bike onto my skin at some point. It means a whole hell of a lot to me. The sheer joy it’s given me over such a crazy year.. Angel Fire, Trestle, Denver Front Range... my 2020 hasn’t been so bad thanks to my blue wonder.
    2020 SB Pro X01, blue, XL, Reynolds Black Series option, CushCore rear, Dissector rear, DMR Vault pedals, DMR Deathgrips, Hope Tech3/E4 brakes on stock SRAM centerlock rotors, AMS frame pro.

    This has been the bike that has made me stop wanting any other bike. It is so good in all settings both up and down the mountain. After a few rides, it has blown me away. I am able to climb sections that I had to walk on my Evil Wreckoning. On the downhills, it is almost as capable as the Wreckoning. To be honest, it’s as close to a Goldilocks bike for someone like me who wants to have a 160 forked 29er. Very stoked. Dave Weagle is a true suspension sorcerer. I can never ride a bike that he hasn’t designed. Keep up the great work. You have a customer for life. Every time I have called in to ask about anything with the bike, your employees have been so helpful and friendly.
    Something people who are considering buying this bike need to understand is that the seat tube is so short on the switchblade which allows you to put your foot down so easily when you need to. I am 5’10” with a 175 transfer post on a medium, and I can easily run a 200 transfer. It is the only thing I will eventually upgrade. But with the 2 inches exposed, I can easily dab when I need to.
    Thank you for ending my relentless bike addiction. For the first time, I know for a fact that I am riding the best bike for me.

    I picked up the Switchblade Race XT as it was the "sort of" affordable Switchblade. This bike is amazing. Mine has the Float X2 setup and I love it. I had broken the frame on a Canyon Spectral, Canyon was great and gave me a full refund that I put towards this Switchblade. I'm a 50 year old rider, can ride about everything, just a bit more slowly then I used to. I've been loving this thing. Building confidence...even jumping again which I haven't done for a couple years. Nice work guys!

    • @pivotcyclesusa
      @pivotcyclesusa  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Within the context of what it provides, the Firebird 29 is an amazing performer. But if you want a Pivot that is a little more nimble and lighter, the new Switchblade is a great option to consider when looking at long travel 29er bikes.

    • @lawnmart
      @lawnmart 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      FB is awesome, but not ideal for trail riding. It just sucks up everything. Really a lot tougher to get it to pop. Also not as much fun in the right and twisty stuff.

      @robdrew596 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Michael Schafer This new Switchblade is an impressive upgrade over the last one. I know your typically a hard tail rider, but being a taller guy who goes fast, I think you would love this bike!

    • @MatthewTafoya
      @MatthewTafoya 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hard to justify moving from my Firebird 29 to a SB. Both are 29ers with very close geometry so adding it to my collection would not help so much on the tight switchbacks.. I like the suggestion to set the rebound to high to get a more poppy feel from the FB29. Its just too nice to give up. But I think adding a Pivot hardtail or newer XC is in my future... Great bikes to run up here in the Mtns of Flagstaff.

  • @gabeah

    @pivot what is the expense to change the volume spacer from the aggressive stock setup to a more moderate setup that serves the broader rider base? seems you probably should have listened to the Fox technicians rather than cater to such a small portion of the market. is this an additional investment in parts and labor to get the shock to a more intermieate or advanced setup as opposed to a full blow Expert bashing through terrain?

    • @pivotcyclesusa
      @pivotcyclesusa  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you are referring to changing the volume spacers on Fox shocks, is very simple and can be done without removing the shock from the bike.

    The biggest problem with the bike is..........the colour. Love everything else about it.
    God i miss the days in the 2010/11s when pivot bikes were so...subtle...in its colours. My aluminum 5.7 stood out in its ability to just bring all the parts together in to a silent but hungry trail machine.
    this one just screams look at me, which is a problem when I'm trying to hide how bad i am at riding from the fellow trail users.

    You spend a lot of time comparing the new Switchblade with the old one and with the Firebird, but I think it would be interesting to compare it with the Shuttle. When you design a new bike you always have to take into account that the Shuttle exist. I have an E-Bike and that's always going to be my main bike.... My second and third bikes need to be different and give me something that the E-Bike can't... Having a Shuttle + M4SL makes sense, Shuttle + Firebird makes sense too.... Shuttle+Switchblade it's not a good idea.

    Awesome bike and all but why do pivots always have such nasty colorways. Give us a non creamy color with a glossy clear coat already

    • @jesseespinosa9739
      @jesseespinosa9739 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Honestly though I’d also prefer a glossy paint finish. Way easier to keep clean. Matte paint is slightly porous, allowing for deep stains. Look at the old Hightowers that came in matte baby blue. You can’t find one that doesn’t look like hell now.
      However, the 2020SB has a semi-matte finish. It’s not quite matte, and definitely way less porous than anything Santa Cruz made. I have been able to keep my frame pretty damn clean after very muddy rides, and long periods of not washing, and ever heat cycling. Still cleans up like the day she came home.
      And the blue is gorgeous in the sunlight.

Sure thing...he says that like the previous rendition was a Wal-Mart bike. I guess if you own the old one you should find a local dumpster as it is BEYOND outdated and JUNK compared to the new one. Are you aware that bike manufacturing is a business?

    • @greatdimitri1049
      @greatdimitri1049 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@CCWclassic are you aware that new model years is a recent phenomenon and bicycles remained the same for years before updated versions would come out? Don't believe the hype. It's all about selling the naive, bicycles they don't need because they think a 30% stiffer bottom bracket is going to make them faster. I have met very few people on a mountain bike that are in good enough shape to notice anything other than a flat tire. And these niche players don't have the R&D budgets or testing budgets that the bigger manufacturers have. They pump out new frames annually to line the pockets of the owers/investors at the expense of their customers. Invest in yourself not a bicycle every year or two or three.
