hello Fadil, i got the same set as a christmas present!! thank u for the video you are great! i ll try to draw something and send it!! thanks again for this video, i had no idea you have to do so many layers. i thougt they were normal pensils...lol
+jelasvarceneger haha!! with any pencils you have to do a lot of layering. it gives a depth and realism to the drawing. :D I am glad you got one set. send the finished picture to my facebook page. :D
Thanks to you Fadil, and thanks to your cupcake I learnt to use colored pencils properly, and I began 4 years ago... thank you for your precious advices.
I recently purchased this set and have just started to use them in the last week. Thank you for your demonstration - the drawing is beautiful. I have subscribed and look forward to watching more of your videos.
I bought a set of Prismacolor pencils. So excited! I've never tried drawing with colored pencils so I figured I would start with Prismacolor. I bought a set of 72 for $25. If I advance with my artistic journey(scared I won't be able to draw a squiggly line lol) I'll give the ones your using in this video a try. You're amazing and truly an inspiration. Will baby oil work okay with the Prismacolors?
I see there is a mention of baby oil rather than distilled turpentine - a relief eg the strong odour of the latter, Ummar. please advise which make of baby oil you find best and as mentioned in my previous comment how it is applied. Thanks and regards, Joe.
Well your coloring is good! *and here i could only blend 3 color max* btw whats the difference this pencil color and the standard one? *except for the color?
I have never tried to use solvent as blender before, because my style is more for the grainy look of the pencil drawing. But, I do want to try the solvent, and what kind of brush do you recommend using? For example a softer brush or firm brush? Since I don't have a local art store, I have to rely on Blick and international shipping. I try not to waste money on buying unnecessary items, since I'm already buying too many LOL Being an artist is hard. You go through your supplies so quickly, and high quality materials gets so expensive over time.
Cathrine OAO try a firm filbert brush and buy an odorless paint thinner. or baby oil can be used too... its a cheap alternative that works almost the same. :)
Hi Ummar, Regarding mention imo, of solvent, please advise which solvent you are using here and how you apply it eg with a brush to your drawing, by dipping the pencil...? For a first use of polychromos, this a beautiful rendering and thanks for sharing your knowledge, regards, Joe.
+Pedro L. de Carvalho i have used distilled turpentine for this one. but i no longer use it. instead i use baby oil now :) they are pleasant smelling less toxic alternative :D
The problem with 24 pencil set is that there isnt any specific colors for skin tones. But they are still high quality pencils, just go for 48 or more color set if you have the budget.
Hello Fadil ! After you used Polychromos, I really want to know what you think about them compared to the Prisma's or Derwent. Witch one do you think it's the best?
dilara karatas i cant clearly say wich one is the best, each pencils have their own unique properties. But still i think i like them in the order Polychromos > prismacolor > derwent artists. but when i need so much color variation and powdery look for my drawing, derwent artists would be my first choice. but they behave like a cheap pencil on smooth paper. faber castell is an allrounder. for realism, faber castell would be the best. followed by prismacolor.
Have you tried Derwent Coloursoft? I tried both and I think Artist is a bit softer but Coloursoft blends a lot nicer. I'm still wondering which to choose.
Please kind sir, what paper have you used on this drawing? If you can't remember, what paper would you suggest for Polychromos? I would really appriciate your opinion
@@scarletblack3182 better use baby oil. It's less toxic for you, it's cheaper and it also takes care of your brushes, reducing the damage to its bristles.
Que usas para disolver el color compre trementina destilada y no tiene el mismo el resultado solo se opaca me harias un gran favor, diciendome que es lo que usas. gracias
i use pelikan color pencil when i color anything i cant color it full and i see a smal with splatter and i cant blend the color is this problem from the pencils and i want to buy faber castel classic color is it good like poly cromo and can i blend it
+Anas Al Jamal use a good paper first. It will help to improve the drawing. Faber castell classic is student grade. But i have heard they are reasonably good. But never as good as polychromos. If you use a good paper you can draw beautifully.
after watching few videos of art i came to see an indian artist making amazing youtube videos.. I am too from west bengal, india.. from where do you buy the prismacolor pencils or polychromos?? they are not available in local shops .. Please help
do u have to add something to blend them? They can't blend by themselves? I want to buy a polychromos set but I want to be able to blend them without using baby oil or turpentine
+Art@Fadil Thanks for the feedback, I'll try using it. My desk used for drawing is in a small room, so the smell of paint thinner easily spreads. At least using baby oil for blending won't make me dizzy.
Thanks to show this. Can You tell me if the pencils have numbers ou name? If you have to choose polychrome or watercolors, what Pencils do you prefer? Sorry for me english.
Brad Whalen wax blooming mainly occurs if we are using wax based pencils. after adding 4 or 5 layers paper will be all covered with the pencils and it becomes shiny and smooth. after that we cant add any further layers, the pencil wont stick to the paper anymore. its called wax blooming, since oil based pencils have only small quantity of wax in it, wax blooming wont occur. so we can add several layers again.
Oh ok. I'm looking to buy some colored pencils that are really good but aren't too too expensive. I like to do drawing from video games and comic books and stuff so which do you suggest prismas or polychromos?
Can you tell us what colors you used? I have the 120 set that I just bought and would like to try making cherries. They won't turn out as good but getting the right colors may help.
+CBrowning0007 getting the right colors helps but the most important thing to consider is getting the values right. i mean how much dark or light it is. I mainly used red, dark red and cadmium orange for drawing. and for some really dark areas i used brown and even black. for cast shadows some greys.
Hi! That's a very very good drawing :O I've got the same polychromos, and I noticed they are a little bit too hard. But I also noticed you used something to blend the colors and the effect is 100 times better. I'm not english so I could'nt catch every single word. So what did you used for blending specifically?
Art@Fadil Good finally you got polychromos. But i have a small opinion ..why did you choose simple red cherries for the great polychromos illustration,Also you've applied OMS(odorless mineral spirit) partially so the color gradation is somewhat improper.you're a natural artist so choose grand subjects for illustration.Keep it up.in future i 'm expecting more mediums like pastel, watercolor etc from you!!!
i was planning on drawing grand subjects but since i couldnt get a proper subject and my time was limited, i went for something easy. also i thought it would be better if i keep the demo video short. anyway i am planning for drawing several more interesting objects with polychromos. i am a bit limited in the colors though. I dont like pastel since they are dusty. i have a bad allergic rhinitis :P but i am seriously considering to start watercoloring.
Art@Fadil By the way i saw you'd used cretacolor karmina and pastel pencils before ,how is their performance is it good or average?,don't compare it with prisma or poly ,just i'm asking howz it?
cretacolor karmina is hard and difficult to layer. some colors are soft. they dont have much vibrant colors. they are very much similar to derwent artists. a little bit softer than derwent though. they work really good on textured papers such as watercolor paper. Cretacolor pastel pencils are really good. they blend well ,easy to draw and have very vibrant colors. so if you have derwent artists there is no point in buying cretacolor karmina.
Brianna Sanchez I dont know since i dont have any portrait colors from them. but i am pretty sure they will outperform prismacolors easily for drawing portraits.
For anyone who is asking: he used distilled turpentine to blend, however now he uses baby oil.
Jade H baby oil is the best blender haha
