I haven't had an art class since high school! I'm retired now and your lessons are so great. I love listening to you as you work. I have been able to do the strawberry and I did a study of 2 cardinals that I'm really happy with. Keep them coming.
I love seeing stuff like this. It's great when oldsters learn new things, because it helps jaded 30 somethings like me feel not "too old". Keep rocking on. 👍🏻
Thank you for another great video! I loved the tip about NOT using the white pencil to blend ALL the areas. I see people do this a lot and it really flattens all the color and dulls the final image. Using different colors is a much better option!
Kirsty - Thank you. Thank you, thank you, thank you. I am 65 and haven't had an art lesson since school (well over half a century ago). I've always loved drawing but never really known how to start learning the techniques. My "projects" always looked amateurish and I was never really pleased with *anything* I finished. When lockdown started last year I decided to try really hard to improve my art (I believe you are never too old to learn). I've followed your tips and techniques, watched your great tutorials and really practised and tried hard. Last week I drew a dog portrait for a friend who lost her beloved pet last year. I was actually proud of it, for the first time ever. She was so surprised she cried with pleasure. I wish I could show you just how much I have improved, thanks to you. I shall keep trying and (hopefully) keep getting better. You've made my retirement so much better - thank you.
Your story is pretty much mine! When I was at school all those years ago, it seemed to me that people were either artistic, or not! But as a child I loved colouring, crayons, and all things related. I rediscovered that love during lockdown and now realise I can draw and love learning watercolour and now pencil art. Such an amazing hobby! And so thankful for people like Kirsty to teach me.

Yes! Can’t tell you how many times the subject of more layers are needed, for building depth and better blending comes up ...some believe me, others don’t...and I find this to be true from time to time even for myself...coloring an image with my Prismas for the first time in 2/3 months, been using other things and I knew I didn’t want to spend forever layering as many times as I normally do, with this particular one and as a result, I am having a hard time getting two colors to blend the way they usually do for me. Thanks for the reminders!
