I love Polychromos; they're pricey but definitely worth the money. I have the whole 120 set, and a bonus pencil that strangely isn't in the set, which is Light Violet 139. It's a really delicate and pretty colour which is worth adding to your collection if you can get your hands on one. Great video! 😆
Becky Tregear Art I agree they’re very much worth it. Mine have lasted me so long without problems! I feel that with these you’re getting what you pay for. I looked up that light violet color and it’s gorgeous, how did you end up getting that one?!😱
@@AlexisCassandraArt I'd read about it somewhere online, and not long after I was in my local art shop, and they had about a dozen or so sitting in a pen pot! I grabbed a couple 😁
Fabulous succinct summary, thank you. I think I need a few of these to supplement my Lightfast pencils.... just have to decide which colours... hmmm... I want all of them... except the yellows 😆
All them colors 😍😍!! Haha you calling out caran d’ache 😆😂!! Wow wow wow $200 😱! Why do art supplies have to be sooooo expensive 😫! But the lead does look better quality. Less likely to break 🙌🏻!! Ooooo that swatch sheet looks so satisfying! Yay for recognizable colors!! Lots of yellow, brown and grays, that’s nice! Oh dang I’d need a real pasty pencil I was coloring in me 😂! Awe that’s a bumper that the white color pencil can’t be blended well 😕. But yay that it lighten ups areas. YES how it works with light is so so so so important! Ooooo those details 😍😍!! Seems like these are worth the price to me. Thanks for the honest review 💕
Kari Beth I know they’re definitely expensive but worth the price!! And yes caran dache is the priciest😂😂 I cant wait for my swatch sheet to be full it’ll be a lot more aesthetic then😂 LOL about the pasty pencil, thx for watching the review😊😊
Polychromos is my favorite colored pencil brand (alongside the Luminance). but i agree with the lack of skin tones. i mostly do portraits and i like using them. but it's very hard to get midtones for lighter to mid skin tones. the available pencils are either too yellow or too pink. they can work with layering and desaturating the brighter colors but it's a lot of work. i really wish they'd come out with new colors kinda like the Luminance Portrait Assortment set.
Oh yeah I know what you mean. There are not enough tones. So I kind of just use them together with my luminance now. Polychromos for hair, eye detail, eyebrows, etc., luminance for blending the skin tones and all of that. thx for watching!
Thanks Alexis! I just got the big F-C PC set of 120 and it's feeling good. Your review was very helpful. I agree CdA is not worth the price. At my Ottawa store the Luminance is triple the Polychromos price. Boo Geneva.
Video Of The Day: Art Journal & Food thank you💙 I’m glad it was helpful! These pencils are expensive so I bought them slowly over a few years to get my collection now hahha
I have never tried toned grey, but I have tried toned tan and it looked good with the polychromos! I have done a few paper comparison videos if you are interested in those. For colored pencil and also graphite/charcoal I often use strathmore mixed media paper :)
hello, im wanting to purchase these pencils im not much of a beginner and i have been using my prismacolor sets for about 5 years, but i am having trouble picking which set to purcahse. either betweeen the 24 or 36 set and would want to know if its worth to buy a set with 12 more pencils.
Hi, with colored pencil i always think you can do with more pencils and so if possible I would just get a 36 set, of course if it is not posible the 24 set will be great also and you can buy open stock in the future to add to the set! It is just that in comparison to some other media (any paint, pastels), colored pencils are harder to blend into new colors, and so having more colors is useful.
I have the 120 castle art and I have to sharpen then alot was going to get that brand but talked my self out of them thanks for the share. Oh well I know next tile
It really depends more on how thick the paper is. If it’s super thin, it might not be able to withstand too much pressure. The smooth surface should be fine though. I like to use Bristol smooth paper sometimes, and you can still layer just a little less than a toothy paper!
Extra video this week since I missed last week:) if you’d like me to do more reviews, let me know!

Becky Tregear Art isn’t that lucky! I may be able to find someone selling one online someday😂
I really enjoyed this video Alexis! Review videos are definitely a great type of video to do and I definitely think you should do more of them 😊
Amy Louise Art thanks amy:) I’m having fun with the review vids so far, I just need to expand the brands so I’m not only reviewing faber castell😂
Fabulous succinct summary, thank you. I think I need a few of these to supplement my Lightfast pencils.... just have to decide which colours... hmmm... I want all of them... except the yellows 😆
I'd say...all of them

Love my Polychromos! I bought 57 open stock and it's the perfect amount of colors.
They’re awesome! They truly are amazing and worthwhile pencils. I hardly have to replace any of mine
Great pencils been using them for the last 30 years.
They are truly classic and I can always depend on them
In Germany the whole set costs around 150€.
Ah actually about the same price (in USD) that is offered on Blick in the US! Although they are not always this price!
Do you think these would work good in a bible journal...the paper is smooth...would that be a problem???
Yes, you don’t want a very light paper weight like printing paper, also if it’s smooth and the paper has no tooth u won’t be able to layer
What type of paper do you recommend? Is strathmore toned grey good enough for the polychromos?
I have never tried toned grey, but I have tried toned tan and it looked good with the polychromos! I have done a few paper comparison videos if you are interested in those. For colored pencil and also graphite/charcoal I often use strathmore mixed media paper :)
@@AlexisCassandraArt thank you. I will definitely take a look at the videos

the black in the polychromos are astounding as she said it, i swatched it myself
It is an amazing pencil! Mine is getting very short at the moment😂

Terry Dockery having to sharpen pencils a lot is definitely a pet peeve of mine haha. I have that same issue with the prismacolors!
Very detailed video :)
Thank you!!
I love polys, except the white pencil lol I don't use it that much it's not opaque enough for me so usually grab another one from somewhere 😛
fuzzydragons I totally agree!! I wish it was more opaque. I do the same thing😂😂
