Some confusion here. At the end of the video I refer to the song “you wouldn’t believe” being the biggest hit off the album and I was referring to alternative charts which it charted higher than amber. But amber did almost land on the hot 100 charts. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/311_discography
Look into the Beautiful Disaster and how it all went Down. The facts are All Messed Up but I'll Be Here a While if you want the scoop but I think someone spilled a Homebrew in the Transistor.
😳💭 If Shaq busted his mouth on somebody's head.. Can you imagine the damage to whoever's head that was?? I bet they still have a goose egg to this day😂
I remember thinking 311 was cheesy when 'Down' was released(mostly because of SA/the rapping parts). That completely changed when I listened to their follow up album, 'Transistor'. Completely blew me away and I still think it's their strongest work to date.
When I first saw this, I was like "No, he wouldn't do that seriously." I remember seeing the full performance at the KROQ event when I got the ETSD 2 dvd and remember he was in the video for "You Wouldn't Believe," so I damn sure would have heard about something serious going on between him and the band. Also, after being a fan for nearly 30 years, I am finally gonna see them on Aug. 10 with my wife. I will be honest and admit I haven't kept up with their past two or three albums as closely as I used to. I hope they play a long set with a lot of career-spanning hits and deep cuts.
Wait, you're saying "You Wouldn't Believe," which only charted in thr Alternative charts, was more successful than "Amber," which hit the bubbling under 100, modern rock, AND Adult Top 40 charts?
Man, you can really tell the age difference in the comments with post-grunge bands. Underrated?!? A few years earlier and these dudes wouldn't have even been signed.
What i don't understand is why shaq woukd do this to them. Shaq and 3qq have been friends for a long time in fact they even made a song and sahq was rapping on it. So I guess I'm just confused if he needed money or if they had an argument or falling out. I hope not cause I love 311 and shaq is a cool dude imo so hope they resolved the issue
I love 311. I like all their albums. although i tbink voyager is a way stronger record than mosaic. But music, self titled and transistor are still the jewels of the discography.
The band's name was chosen by P-Nut from the police code for indecent exposure in Omaha after a friend of the band was arrested and cited for skinny dipping in a public pool.
I am an absolutely huge Shaq fan. 311 was alright to me but not really a fan per se. I followed Shaq his whole career even till now, but I have never heard of this! That's really cool to hear a new fact I didnt know from so long. ago.

311 is one of the most underrated bands ever.
And there it is, the inevitable underrated comment. You must have not been around in the 90’s and early 2000’s.
@@actionjacksondan lol
@actionjacksondan for real, this band was so over played, it's not funny.
@@mrdeatheli😂 No they weren't. Even at their height.
311 blew up the scene with their sophomore release "GrassRoots", it is still one of my all time favorite records front to back.
Grassroots is definitely stronger than Music or The Blue album. Transistor is my personal favorite.
Soundsystem is my favorite! Eons is a great song!
@@TheNothing6 Soundsystem is a really great album. One of their best for sure.
Exactly. So many bangers! 8:16 am is still one of my favorites!

R.I.P. Kobe
Holy shit... somehow I never heard about this until now.

Shaq being genuinely mad at you would be pretty scary.
Just challenge him in a free throw match and he'll go away.
311 is criminally underrated
Totally agree
Their studio albums aren't great but they are a really good live band
Completely agree!
People throw that word around a lot, but this time, absolutely 100% correct.
@@SlappySlipperton that is always cool when a band sticks together.

311 is my favorite band of all time. 98% of the facts in this I knew, had no idea that Shaq had that lawsuit threat. Good stuff as always!!
Also hes in pretty much every ad on tv
311 should be in the RRHF

I had Shaq-Fu for Sega and remember Shaq rapping about "Phil is my father". Lost memory that just came back!
Shag needs to be sued with tom brady over that $ scam
He is being sued.
Only an idiot would invest in crypto.
My wife and I saw 311 at Saltair (UT) during their tour for Soundsystem. Incubus was the opening act.
I saw em that summer too
Dude, both are great and sounds like it would be perfect together!
@@THRASHMETALFUNRIFFS it was a great show. Good sound, energetic crowd, lots of fun.
I remember From Chaos being the first album I actually bought with my own money when I was 11 years old. Still one of my favorites
I was 13 and my dad bought it for me when he was visiting me and my sister from California after my parent's divorce. Bittersweet memory.
The lyrics: Psycho, Psycho, Psycho 100x
311’s Blue album went Triple Platinum

*_Dude, “Amber” is their biggest hit of their entire career, and that was on From Chaos. LOL_*
No if you look at singles charts you wouldn’t believe looks like it charted higher on the alternative charts
Amber is not the biggest hit of their career. It didn't even make it to #1. Down, Love Song, and Don't Tread On Me all went to #1

yes Transistor is an amazing album where their songwriting and production value went sky high
@@SynthysynthsynthGreat album
It is cheesy but I seriously love Martinez’ lyricism. Especially when he speaks spanish, as a mexican myself it’s pretty cool.
I was blown away at Transistor. Double the songs for the same price. If you want more beats for your buck there's no luck.
That album was so ahead of its time that even now it’s ahead of its time

Fun story. I like 311...and Shaq 🍻
