Great use of a pocket door. I know they're reasonably common in the US, but it seems they've only recently started to gain popularity in the UK. They're great imo, especially when space is tight; I've fitted 4 when creating ensuite bathrooms where space is often at a premium.
Nice to see someone doing a high quality job! A lot of pro trades people wouldn’t have done that nice a job! I live in Denmark and the whole reason I built our 80m2 extension myself was to ensure a quality end result just like the fantastic work you are producing. Keep it up and thanks for the great channel!
It's nice seeing a non-professional achieve such an outstanding level of quality. To be fair to the trades people, they have to work efficiently and there isn't often the time to be painstaking. We should all aspire to this level of quality though.
That's a really nice looking job and a very helpful video. It looks great having the edge of the door opening back flush with the lining- all in Oak - best finish I've seen.
This is the most exquisite handiwork in the smallest footprint I have ever seen. I am always impressed by your attention to detail! And the baby is adorable!
Excellent videos,u make info really easy to understand,,,1st started watching insulation videos, and just carried on...keep up good work mate, one my favs...everyone watch more of the videos, excellent,
Going to be putting a couple of these into our new extension. Love watching your videos. My wife has zero interest in tools or how things are built. Luckily my Dad loves projects like these so it helps massively to have a fresh pair of eyes to overcome the inevitable problems that crop up when you're up against it.
Awwww how cute is your baby... and she is indeed winning on the hair ..lol Though i cant talk, hair ? whats that /..lol The door..nahhh the whole porch is looking fantastic!
Great video and awesome job as always. Inspired me to fit double pocket doors with a similar track system all DIY. I have referred to this video countless time, so thank you!
I recently made a cherry pocket door and installed an edge pull similar to yours. I used the domino joiner to cut the mortise for the part which retracts deeply into the door. My door was 1 3/8 inch thick, so I made sure the mortise did not interfere with the surface pulls.
A tip for you with plugs.... just screw a screw into the centre of the plug it goes through and the tip stops on the hidden screw head and the plug winds out! real easy and no damage to the board... good content always form you ... good man!
Nice work, im currently doing my own porch at the moment and been looking at different style doors. At the bottom of your door is there trim to stop and drafts as i couldn't see that detail.
No draft as the porch itself is craft proof however I have ordered a brush seal to go down there. My gap is a little larger than planned otherwise I might not have bothered at all.
@@TheRestorationCouple Thank you, I've seen the quality of your work so I'm not surprised the porch is draft proof and I'm hopping mine will be the same. Just wasn't sure with my own what sort of fit it would need in to the frame to be classed as an external door. Cheers
sorry mate, she is winning in the hair stakes! Fantastic job on the porch. Trouble is,it's giving my wife ideas for me to do,but I lack your skills. Looking forward to the workshop project. Keep up the great work.
Superb trim carpenter work that benefits your family. While you may prefer it to babysitting at times, at least you’re not in a pub or playing golf. Your son is your clone. Thank you for allowing your daughter to “stain” a bit with the sponge brush. 👏🏻
My understanding of British vernacular has improved greatly by watching this channel over the years. I am, however, stumped by this sentence: "This really was a bit of fussy hardware and also quite fiddly." In my head...those words (fussy/fiddly) are the same. I am intrigued by the difference if it can be explained to an American, please?
I see you are using your evolution track joined together now, have you sorted out the issues with it? Is it worth getting or should I hold out for a good deal on the 3m makita track?
Thanks for the support Matt! The front wall's render is pretty sound so likely just paint or this year. The rear I have taken back to block so will be a combo of stone and render. To clad would require full planning permission but may be the future option.
@@TheRestorationCouple thats crazy they would want you to have planning to clad, looks better and hardly structural but rules are rules. be great to have really detailed walk through and tour of the porch even though you have kind of done that already. My favourite project so far.
matt clark Yes planning rules are funny ones! Nothing stopping me painting this any colour yet to face it in stone to match the house would likely need an application.🙄
Nice use of the space You may have to teach the kids not to leave their fingers in the handles when they open the door, i did it once as a kid, and it hurts a lot.
Trust me on this one, in a few years time you will be screaming "mind your fingers" I know as my kids learnt the hard way on our sliding door, good luck and nice video
Yep. Answer this on your Instagram story yesterday. Fortunately this door is only really opened and closed once or twice a day. That said any door hinge is a danger zone with the girls!🙄
Looks a proper job. But seeing your little ones fingers by the sliding door made me realise the glass to wood shoulder (or is it flush?) is a possible finger trap when the door slides open. Sorry for the H&S comment.
No more than hinges in all the other doors of the house. To be honest, we intend to only open and close once a day as the idea is to keep it open to the other part of the house ,out of the time.

Great video, great door, great helper, great wife, great baby. Lucky man, clever man.
Bravo you made a nice job of the porch you've got a good eye for detail 👀👍👌
Lovely vid. I'm after the lock. Tnxx for link👍👍
This is the most exquisite handiwork in the smallest footprint I have ever seen. I am always impressed by your attention to detail! And the baby is adorable!
An absolute genius, is there anything this man can't do?

Really enjoyed the porch project, great design and beautifully executed. Well done

That's easily one of the best looking pocket doors I've eve seen. You made a nice job of that matey. 😊
Beautiful door with a great eye for detail, eg the finish on the moulding. Great use of space.
Great video and awesome job as always. Inspired me to fit double pocket doors with a similar track system all DIY. I have referred to this video countless time, so thank you!
Really enjoyed this project. Looks amazing. You couldn't pay someone to do a better job. Looks brilliant 👌
Fair play to you mate you are very skilled craftsman keep it up the cracking work 💯

Excellent job. Love the light switch 👍
Tim you are the Marine of DIYers improvise, adapt, overcome 🛠
😂
The baby is definitely the star of the show😍😍😍👏👏👏
Looks fantastic. Love the light switch.
This is superbly executed! Well done team!👌🏻
Loved your oak pocket door project just wish I had learned woodworking at school
I didn’t. Just had a go and worked things out bit by bit. 👍
First class workmanship
Very well done and clever door ! There won’t be to many more videos where your MiniMe will have the same hair, she’s adorable.
Excellent work and yes pocket door the best decision, as for hair........grass don’t grow on a busy street 😂
Door looks great! Great job!
Great job, looks beautiful in place.
Woohoo gotta a shout out in the credits ;) cracking job as always Tim. I think it's a tie on the hair 🤣
You’re too polite. She has three times what I have! 😌
Pocket doors are the best. No one could ever convince me otherwise.

Love it! I did something similar by just pulling on the screw but screwing in further is genius!
Nice work, im currently doing my own porch at the moment and been looking at different style doors. At the bottom of your door is there trim to stop and drafts as i couldn't see that detail.

Nice work! Also, I'm in the south west and in the market for an external door! Any more details?!
Great job 👏👌🏻👍

Thanks. Hope she is not too much of a clone though! Three girls. 😉
One 'babysits' for the children of other people. In the case of your own children, it's called parenting.
I love the variation in vocabulary. I would never have called it a "soil pipe." How classy. :P
Nice job mate
Great vid - are you able to find the link to the track you used? And is it soft close?
Where did you get the fixings kit from Tim?. many thanks
That is sensational!
Lovely job love wooden light socket did u make it or buy it ? If you made it any tips making one please

Hi, could you say again the product you are using to treat/oil/wax the oak timber

Another fantastic video.
Top job!
Nice helper

Hi Jayne fussy refers to the hardware being a little complex in design and fiddly means a bit difficult to work with.
Another great project
lovely content
That is well nice!
BEST ONE EVER!!!

A lock on a glass door is that the same logic as a chocolate fire guard.
What was the osmo product you used on the door and did you wipe off the excess with a cloth.
PolyX satin clear (rapid) foam brush on and yes usually wipe off. Unless it’s a worktop when I tend to leave it as a thicker more durable top coat.
Is that the raw 3044?
3032. Just clear. Although I used a little of the honey colour to darken the lining.
Hi Tim, just added myself as a Patreon.😀 what are you planing to do with garage walls? Paint, render, clad?
Thanks for the support Matt! The front wall's render is pretty sound so likely just paint or this year. The rear I have taken back to block so will be a combo of stone and render. To clad would require full planning permission but may be the future option.

I just love it when I open a pocket door and don’t get my fingers out of the way in time. 🤨
😂
Where can i buy or whats the name and brand of the door locks and handle
Thank you
Please notice
Also where and whats the name of the sliding mechanism thank you
Slider was eclise. Hardware all online probably ironmongery direct. 👍
First.
Excellent , this has come at just the right time. Superb job.
Excellent.... again
nice content
very very nice
Nice use of the space
You may have to teach the kids not to leave their fingers in the handles when they open the door, i did it once as a kid, and it hurts a lot.
Fab job as usual Tim & helpers! Looks like someone is getting teeth!!!
Oh yes and doesn’t she like to let everyone know about it! 🙄
What a cutie!!!
Put your screws straight on the light switch
Fantastic demonstration. But, I think the assistants have stolen the show.
Trust me on this one, in a few years time you will be screaming "mind your fingers" I know as my kids learnt the hard way on our sliding door, good luck and nice video

Did sam have a happy 25th?

you must go to ikea an awful lot.... :)
Not really, why?
@@TheRestorationCouple IKEA pencils?!
Ah I see. No I just got fed up of not being able to find a pencil that I bought a box of 500. Now they’re everywhere! 😂
48k people know about it, not so hidden.
2nd
At least for now you have more teeth than baby, though by the looks of those cheeks she's catching up there! :)
Your work has really leapfrogged boyo u must be thinking of quitting your day job and doing some price work
