    Great timing! I’m currently building an extension. Ordered the kitchen then realised the utility door would open on to the units so decided to make it a pocket door. I’ve ordered a “JEXIS Pocket door ejector” so when you come to close the door you simply push the edge of door and it pops out instead of trying to get your fingers in to close it. Hoping it works! Love how you’ve finished that single door off. The brush strips are a great idea. Looks smart!

    Love the choice of unique walnut doors makes such a difference from your usual white primed doors! One thing I would add about the pocket doors would be how far they return into the partition. Once you router your handles in on both sides it's best to have the door sticking enough to see the handle so that you're able to reach the handle on both sides of the door to close it. It's works better than trying to fish for the top of the door everytime you want to close it. Nothing wrong with what you've done its something I've come across fitting them. Top work as always!

    • @stephen-boddy
      @stephen-boddy 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I watch a bunch of vids of luxury boats on Aquaholic, and for obvious reasons pocket doors are very popular where space is at such a premium. The usual answer is to have a flush fit pop out handle on the edge face of the door. i.e. you push the top with your thumb and it swings a handle out below that you can grab and pull. Alternatively there are sprung loaded pop out handles for the edge and there are even doors you can push and the whole door springs out, presenting the handles on the main face. I'm a bit surprised you don't know about these hardware solutions if you fit these types of doors often.
      Edit: Just noticed the thread necromancy :-)

    Will be interesting to see what type of handle they go for! As with a traditional handle you won't be able to full close the door (or push it into the reveal) as the handle will hit the wall and leave 3-4 inches showing. Also, with the door fully in the reveal how will you pull it out?

    An airplane in your dream indicates that you will overcome your obstacles. You will rise to a new level of prominence and status. With the high elevation of a traveling airplane, it reflects an experience of great awareness and higher consciousness. Hi Robin,
    Amazing work as always. You have been inspiring me to start my own DIY pocket door project innthe UK. However, straight at the beginning I've encountered an issue with my cavity wall width. The cavity in our walls is only 6cm deep. There is no system that works with that. The minimum I've found is 100mm.
    Of course, I've reconsidered maybe we shouldn't have pocket sliding but just wanted you as you may have an idea.
    Any practical information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks very much!
    Keep up the good work. Keep those vids coming. Cheers 👍

On that theme, I have a request for a video on the Capel build (maybe after completion) is a video from your wife & family's view. What did they want, what do you think you are crazy for doing, what did they not understand the reason for but now could not live without, etc?

Nice to know when your own work is in the right direction 😅 Is the brush strip a generic product or was it in the kit for the running gear?
