Ally, you really are an excellent teacher. I have been involved in desktop publishing since the 70s and have used a lot of different machines and software so unlike newbies, I can say with authority that Affinity Publisher is a superb program and you are the one who breathes life into it.
It's amazing how you show and explain in this tutorials!! Thank you!! I'll go and enroll you're Publisher and Photo courses. The designer course was so useful for my needs!! You two made me switch from Adobe to Affinity! I love you're tutorals. Best wishes for you and Ezra!
I've been using PageMaker, QuarkXpress and InDesign for years but Affinity Publisher is simply awesome to work around with. It took me a couple days to familiarize the function and stuffs but its fun. Love this tutorials too. Keep it up!
Excellent video! Had many problems with page numbers in Word (They wouldn't do what I told them to do!). Looks like Affinity will make page numbering and sections much easier.
Affinity Publisher does a much better job with page numbering than Word. Word can be pretty frustrating for doing things much more complicated than typing up simple documents... 😬
Have you done a tutorial on tables and how to import data into the tables. If not, I would love to see one. All your publishers have been great. Glad to hear Ezra is okay
Thank you! If you want more tutorials, I made an entire course for Affinity Publisher. 😊 courses.affinityrevolution.com/p/affinity-publisher-for-beginners
@@AffinityRevolution This is true as well. Great videos by the way. I have a question since it seems you actually interact with your audience. Do you have a video explaining if it is possible to combine curve shapes. I don't know how to do it. I am experiencing a learning curve.
@@AffinityRevolution Actually, what I want to know is: If I make, as an example, an outline of a person using the pen tool, then add details with the pen tool using individual curve lines or the sculpt tool to add the details, is there a way to combine those individual lines with the whole of the curve outline and then be able to use a solid fill while keeping the line details visible (as if the color was underneath the whole thing. Or, if I make a have using the pen tool, how do I combine the curve shapes to make a solid shape in a specific order, (i.e. raised brim in front of cap) or are all these things just done as pieces?
@@citizen85 You could put all the curve layers into a group, and then place a fill layer in that group. That would change all of their colors at once. 🙂
Thanks! Another method would be to create another Master page without page numbers, and apply it on the first few pages you don't want to have page numbers; the numbers will disappear. Then use Section Manager to adjust page numbering as usual on the rest of the pages. At least that's how I did it. 😊
Well, this tutorial elevated my 36-pg booklet from average to sensational! [Confession: okay, a number of your other Affinity Publisher videos helped also.] I still plan to take your course-I thought seclusion from Covid-19 would be my chance but it hasn't worked out that way. Thank you for your tutorials and stay safe! ⭐ x 5
When I follow the directions, I am getting now a # sign on my master page, but no numbers are appearing anywhere else in the document. What am I doing wrong, please?
Hmmm... sorry, I'm not sure. I recommend you ask on the official Affinity forums: forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/forum/5-affinity-on-desktop-questions-mac-and-windows/
@@AffinityRevolution It is fine, I figured it out. My mistake was that I was not setting ALL the pages to master. Thank you very much for all your help and responding to my prior question.
@@AffinityRevolution Seriously, you guys are the reason I switched from Photoshop to Affinity. Your tutorials are really, really great. My best wishes for Ezra and what he's dealing with. Oh yeah, and GO UTES! (Just had to) 😋
Hi. Is it possible to add page numbers on the right page only with a continuous number? I tried it but it shows odd numbers. I want no page number on the left page
When you're starting a new document, change the "Start On" setting to "Left". Then in the document, place your page number box just on the right side, on your master template. Then you'll only have even page numbers on the right side. 😊
Hmmm... it's hard for me to know what's going wrong without being able to see your screen. I'd post your question with a screenshot on the Affinity forums: forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/forum/5-affinity-on-desktop-questions-mac-and-windows/

One of the things I like about here is she doesn't say "go ahead" all the frickin time, like so many videos do.
Haha thank you! :)
Great stuff.... I knew Publisher had to have the section mgr....Doh could I find it. Years of the other product dulled my brain.
Haha well I'm glad you know where it is now. 😊

Hi question... do you save that on PNG file or something else. Thanks
You can export to a PNG, JPEG, or PDF.
PNG is used for photos that have a transparent background.
it appears grayed out to me... i am not sure on what to do tbh...
