Is there any way to eat with this? I literally cannot chew, the food gets stuck in the top and gags me. Currently I am eating a smoothie for dinner, not because of pain, but because it is literally impossible to eat solid food.
Becca Snout hello, now it’s one week after putting this, now I am used to talk and eat with it 98%, still when I talk quickly they don’t understand me but I think day by day I feel better with this device. Yesterday my orthodontist attached a plastic piece in the middle of the TPA to minimize the degree of ulcer and make it more comfortable ask your orthodontist if he can attach it.

Gethsemane Duran you will get used to them after a week or so and then eat normally. It’s only annoying in the begging why try pushing your tongue on top when you eat. I just ate noodles and ice cream mostly
Gethsemane Duran hello, I just removed mine after 2 weeks from having it. My orthodontist said my tongue is too large so I can’t adapt it and it caused me a lot of pain, lacerations and bleeding. I hope you adapt to it as soon as possible.

Hang in there ❤️❤️❤️ Although I already have had the nance button for 6 months so I was already used to that when I got the TPA as well.
Just had my TPA on today !! That’s why I’m watching this video 😀 I noticed immediately, my left upper an lower molars can’t touch each other when I chew on food, but the right side do. My doctor said it’s because my biting is a bit off, so it’s more obvious when those bands are on my molars, I just need to get used to it and through time, when adjustments come it, the biting will gradually be balanced. However, when they put the TPA on, they only told me to bite for the left side(to push the band up so it fits the molar), not the right... wonder if the right side band is not completely pushed up and cause the biting issue ?
Alli Narvaez depending on your personal situation and orthodontist. I’ve heard people wearing it for 8 months or even longer. My orthodontist said I needed to wear mine for about 6 months (I have an expander now which I need to wear for a bit less than 4 months).

So I have a question. Last week I was scheduled to have my braces removed July 2, and I was told to wear posterior box elastics only at night. Before this appointment I was wearing class ll 24/7. Throughout this week I’ve been slowly noticing my overbite returning. I don’t want to wait 8 weeks, just to be told that my overbite is back and I need to wait more time. Should I call my orthodontist? I don’t want to be annoying, but I’m very sure that I’m not just seeing things.

my tpa's arch touches the hard palate. It's getting sore now, what should the dentist do?
It's not supposed to touch your palate, there should be a small distance of like 1mm.
Hello dr, my tpa period has ended. About a month ago , now my Ortho wants to shift the upper canine little bit backwards to mix with the dentition, as I have a problem , means , upper canine do not align with rest of the arch , the
Unsure what you mean but i would express this concern to your orthodontist who is more familiar with your treatment!
Mine is actually touching the roof of my mouth. I got it on 4 days ago and it has been fine but now it touches. What do i do?
Im not sure if i’m getting this or a palatel expander 😬 but i did have rings fitted
Come back and let us know!! It could be a bunch of different things!
I have one but my orthodontist just said it was a Palatal Arch (don’t know if it differs by country). I had it because I had teeth pulled and they were using it to like maintain the space or something? But my question is where the gap between your teeth are to get the bands round, once it is taken out at the end of treatment will the retainer maintain that space or will it go?
TPA & palatal arch are the same =]
Are you officially orthodontist or still a student?
Awesome video as always!
I hope you can see all of the certificates in the background
Hi all - I'm in residency meaning that I am already a dentist but training to be an orthodontist. I graduate as an orthodontist in June so almost there! =]
@@DrGregAsatrian yayyy!! And good luck!
My daughter is 12. She has 1 front protruding tooth and gaps between the others. She is about to lose her 2 upper canines and lost the molars adjacent to the canine on both sides about a month ago. She got braces on just her upper 4 front teeth and they used a TPA on the molars to hold the wiring. She is struggling with it in regards to tongue pain and eating. I know there's alot happening in her mouth right now but do you think it would be worth bringing up at her next appointment the possibility of brackets on the molars or just the bands without the arch? Or does it sound the the arch is needed
Do a Opinionated Video about Mewing please!
I will once I study what he has to say a bit more. I dont agree with most of what he's saying but some things he sayd all orthodontists agree with
How long do u have to have them in
How long for a tooth to start moving sideways if open coil spring or close coil is applied?
Depends on which tooth, individual factors and how activated the coils are. Microscopically, teeth start moving immediately
How can I activate a fixed TPA inside the mouth
I also have a plastic thing to correct an overbite along the front of my teeth, how do I clean under i?
Did you figure out how to clean under it? I have it and I'm so confused. Food keeps getting stuck there and I don't know how to get it out.
Is this appliance for adults too or Just kids? Does anybody know
I got my TPA removed this week!
How long did you wear it?
I have the herbst appliance on and TPA. it’s so annoying lol 😂 i feel like a robot but aside from that, thank you for the amazing video like always!
I have the herbst and the tpa too😂 they are both really annoying
Aaron Anderson i got mine off 3 months ago 😎. i hope your journey goes well!
@@danicoves9012 i can't chew having tpa and lla?
Can TPA somehow used for moving some molars aside? or it's necessary just for holding?
They can be used for movement but primarily are used for holding
I have a TPA but I didn't have an expander before!!
Cool! Def dont need an expander before a TPA. Many uses for a TPA!
i’m not sure if i’m getting my tpa off soon but can someone please answer me if it hurts when getting it off?? thank you! it would help a lot!
Hey i’m getting one soon, how was it?
@@katiemx2502 bit uncomfortable at first but u get used to it. and i didn’t even realize they took it off when they were taking it off!
Hi doc! Why is my TPA have double wire? I don't like when food get stuck in between sometimes.
Not too sure - every orthodontist has different preferences when it comes to the design of his/her TPA for different uses !
@@DrGregAsatrian thanks doc! You're the best
Wisdom teeth can cause headache? please answer...
Looking handsome, Dr! Hope you have a wonderful weekend ♥️
Thank you ! I hope you have a great weekend too!
Is it normal to feel really really bad pain with it on?
Can u please help me I need to now asap my tpa is loose
I have that type of arch on the back of my teeth (both sides) across my top row, is it a different name for what i have ?
Not sure what you mean!
i just got mine in today and it hurts so much i can barely eat
so its 2 months later and i dont even recognize its there anymore but there's an imprint on my tongue which is a lil weird at times
4 months after getting it, i dont even know its there until i get gummy/stringy stuff stuck on it lol
@@juliav7604 does ur speech get better? ive had mine for 2 and a half weeks and some words are still slurred but it’s better from when i first had them. Will my mouth adjust to speaking normally again?
@@viennagunhouse7007 i can't say for sure cus i hold my tongue in kind of a different position (which im not supposed to but its a habit lol) so i didn't have much slurring but there was some and it did eventually go away so i think your mouth will adjust :)
i got braces on my back molars and it hurt like hell on my right side for the first two days bc of my overbite rip now it just feels weird to chew on that side bc it presses down on the bracket
I have a tpa and a nance and it hurts. I can’t speak properly either. Chewing is a major problem. Idk how long i can take this
Do you still have it? Did your speaking improved over time?
I have something like this.. on the bottom there is also an appliance with the wire running behind my teeth..
Thanks so much. I've a tpa and also the la. Your videos are so helpful
Ahh thank you so much!! Yup I plan on doing one on LA soon!
I just got my tooth extracted 3 days ago and I got TPA in my mouth...
my upper jaw starts to swell a bit n it touches my TPA(which hurts only when I eat)... is this normal?
