Thankful for this video. Question: What is the benefit of a Nance to hold the space of an extracted upper baby Second Molar in an 8 yo over a band and loop when the First permanent molar has already fully erupted and Upper First Premolar is still in place (i.e. why not place a smaller band and loop device when it sounds like there're some drawbacks to the Nance with lisp, possible mouth roof irritation, etc.)?
Should've asked this on your retainer video, if i plan to have fixed retainer and use waterpik for flosser, is it safe for the fixed retainer as the pressure of the water might harm the retainer? TIA
@@DrGregAsatrian I'm relieved! I just love water flosser so much because it's easier to clean my teeth and at the same time i want fixed retainer. Thanks, Dr. Greg!

Hi Dr. Greg, my little one (4 years old) had his premolars extracted due to cavity, and has nance appliance as a space maintainer. Could you please let me know if the nance appliance was going to affect the development of his upper arch, as the upper arch should be expanding as he grow? Thank you.

I have an implant on my 6th tooth, the assistant was upset I didn't let her know before hand because she said it wasn't gonna stick and it's a longer process. Month 3 with braces and they still haven't tried to put a bracket on it or wire it with my other teeth. They did say this month they were gonna brace the 7th. But guess well see what happens. I've been looking into it and there's not much videos on implants (that already exist) and braces. Only ones after/durring braces.
Thank you for this video! I've had a nance for almost a year, to keep my molars back while closing extraction gaps. They're finally almost closed but now I wonder, since the nance is soldered to my bands, will it have to stay in the entire time I have my braces? I have about 14 more months to go.
Great question - not necessarily. When we are done using it, we can cut those arms off using our handpiece (don't worry, it doesnt hurt && you dont feel it at all)

i got mine 7 months ago and had an appointment a few days ago as well and they put a powerchain ON and im feeling the same way about how the roof of my mounts feels as though it’s being torn apart. i hope it isn’t anything too serious - did your pain ever go away?
I had this for a few months but my orthodontist took it off because I started developing a blister/swelling right where the anchor was pressing up against my pallete. And could I have it removed temporarily so my gum can heal?
Can you chose the color of the acrilic.
Thank you for telling us about braces or anything
Of course! THank you for watching! =]
Amazing explanation dr greg 👌 i hope you make videos to explain retainers to reposition the tongue
TIA
Yup! The retainer should be on there strong enough
@@DrGregAsatrian I'm relieved! I just love water flosser so much because it's easier to clean my teeth and at the same time i want fixed retainer. Thanks, Dr. Greg!
I’m 19 and I have a nance appliance and braces and I don’t have a wire yet, but recently my teeth have been moving. idk if I hit puberty again or something but Like my roof of my mouth is getting wider and so is my jaw. The teeth seem to be getting straighter is this good or bad??
Impossible for me to tell but you said the teeth are getting straighter so that's good, right? =]
How are you now?
Hi Dr. Greg, my little one (4 years old) had his premolars extracted due to cavity, and has nance appliance as a space maintainer. Could you please let me know if the nance appliance was going to affect the development of his upper arch, as the upper arch should be expanding as he grow? Thank you.
Hey Doc I can't speak properly with this thing I just got today and will it remain same that I can't make some sounds of alphabet
I just got my Nance appliance and will get Braces tomorrow. My Case is Open Bite. Right now the appliance leaves and imprint on my tongue which hurts a little and cant eat properly.
Can you make a video of removable expander?
Sure! Hang tight
I have got these for 4 months but I can’t go to my orthodontist because of COVID, the hospital is shut down
Speech is being affected by my Nance appliance. I have trouble talking. Therefore I'm wondering if it will last the entire time I have braces or if it will eventually end.
Can you please do a video about veneers/crowns/bondings after orthodontic treatment. It’s something I’m considering and would like to know more about :)
Sure I can def try and make one of those !
I have a question. So. Is there a reason why when I leave the orthodontist, my braces don’t poke me, but halfway before my next appointment, my wire seems to be sticking out more than the previous appointment
Depends on what stage you are during the braces process, sometimes as spaces are closed, the wire extends out of the back of the most back tooth!
Is it normal for the roof of your mouth around the appliance to swell? It's happening to me and it's becoming really painful
same here!! i got mine removed 2 weeks ago due to inflamed tissue under the button but when i got it back in 2 days ago i’ve been feeling a ton of pain and it feels super swollen. it’s definitely not a good sign and it’s best to have it removed. i’m assuming you’ve gotten it fixed by now since this was written a month ago, but it’s always good to ask ur doc!!
Just gone mine 3 days ago, feels uncomfortable every time I bite down
My 3rd day 😭
can you do a video about pendulum appliances
Sure
i am wearing these nance appliance for about 6 months now ....my condition is almost the same as ur patient in this video (on my top jaw) wht i want to know is fr how long does the treatmenet with these things last...................great explanation btw
It really depends where you are in treatment. Ive had patients that only had them for a few months and others for years so really the best person to ask would be your orthodontist!
I currently have nance appliance. It hurt bad the first week after that I got used to it now.
I just got mine 2 days ago. It’s hurts a lot! any tips?
@@aishamaryam750 it hurts so much & so uncomfortable, how long did it take you to get used to it ??
@@olno About a week. It wasn’t as bad as braces for me. Also it’s gonna press on your tongue, so now my tongue has indentions lines from the appliance
@@aishamaryam750 it’s gotten way better since i commented that it feels like the appliance is no longer there i just have a slight lisp and sometimes hard to eat since food gets stuck behind it
i had mine for 2 years and got it removed today! my mouth is so sore and there’s a huge hole where that circle thing was resting against the roof of my mouth :/ i really hope it’s goes away soon it’s kind of hard to eat with how tender it is
i have food stuck in mine, which hurts. i have tried floss but it didnt fully work. any advice?
Love the video!
Can you cover a video on implants and braces?
I have an implant on my 6th tooth, the assistant was upset I didn't let her know before hand because she said it wasn't gonna stick and it's a longer process. Month 3 with braces and they still haven't tried to put a bracket on it or wire it with my other teeth. They did say this month they were gonna brace the 7th. But guess well see what happens. I've been looking into it and there's not much videos on implants (that already exist) and braces. Only ones after/durring braces.
I'll def try and make a video about invisalign/braces with implants
Thank you for this video! I've had a nance for almost a year, to keep my molars back while closing extraction gaps. They're finally almost closed but now I wonder, since the nance is soldered to my bands, will it have to stay in the entire time I have my braces? I have about 14 more months to go.
Great question - not necessarily. When we are done using it, we can cut those arms off using our handpiece (don't worry, it doesnt hurt && you dont feel it at all)
@@DrGregAsatrian Thank you!
did bothered you when talking? i just got the nance and in having a hard time talking properly
Got mine yesterday. I simply can’t talk or swallow
Hopefully I get used to it
I definitely want to buy your merch hopefully I can soon!
I hope so too! Make sure to tag me on instagram so I can repost you!! =] @drgregortho
Is this the same as 601 AW(s) New?
If not can you up show what procedure that is?
Thank you very much for nice sharing . Pls if is possible to make lecture about orthodontics wires and the difference. 👍
I have one about NiTi wires. check it out!
To maintain the space which one do you prefer nance appliances or transpalatal arch?
Nice video. Please doctor I've been wearing my elastics religiously for months and there's no improvement. My ortho thinks I don't wear them and I do. What might be the problem please? Thanks
Hard for me to say but I would let your doc know that you are doing your best!
Does Nance appliance hurt during removal?
i got mine removed today, the process didn’t hurt but it’s been about 10 hours and i still can’t eat bc it left a deep hole on the roof of my mouth where the plastic was sitting, it’s so tender and annoying and it tastes like blood, i hope it heals soon 😭
My case requiring maximum anchorage too but my ortho use tpa is it work the same or what’s better?
Similarly - I will be doing one on TPA soon! =]
Braces Explained that’s awesome👍🏼
Can a nance appliance be a removable retainer as well?
depends on the scenario - best to ask your orthodontist who is the most familiar with your case
Thank you
Hey I am preparing for part 2 nbde Your videos are helpful.... when do u upload lingual arch space maintainer
I have question how long does it stay in cuz were my son tooth was missing is nolonger missing it in now but he has his nance spacer in still
i got my nance removed today after 2 years of wearing it & there is a huge hole on the top of the roof of my mouth where the plastic circle was sitting. how long til this goes away? 😭 it’s kind of hard to eat with how tender the area is
I have one of these and I can’t swallow properly 😭
My son got one and he don’t talk clear will it get better over time
Whenever you put Braces. uhmm Do they Use shots ? And How Long Will the Pain Take with the braces ?
Nope we dont use shots! The discomfort only lasts a couple of days then you forget it's even there!
WoW ! Well then ! I will be so glad to Already wear My Braces !
where’s the video on the lower lingual holding arch? im having troubles finding that video :(
I haven't made it yet. I have to find the footage of it and make the video soon! =]
What do I do my gums are swelling and hurting like hell at the top of my mouth I got mine 3 years ago I think it time I can’t because of Coronavirus
Thing 2 yo thats happening to me right now.
I have a nance appliance to keep my molars back to prevent them from moving to the space left from extracted teeth. My nance looks the same as the one you showed, but it has also a metal thing that goes along the top of my palate(like a thicker thread kinda). Does it the same work as the nance you showed or does it have a different purpose?
That other part is called the transpalatal arch (TPA). I will be doing a video on those soon!
Braces Explained Didn’t know it was called that. But what I meant was that mine is kinda combined, both nance and transpalatal arch in one single thing.
@@elinrefetova6031 bit late but I got this yesterday, does your lisp go away and can you learn to speak normally again?
i got this appliance on the roof of my mouth a month ago. i had an appointment a few days ago and they took my powerchains off of it. i’ve started having terrible pain at the roof of my mouth and it feels like it’s being torn apart. is this normal or should i be getting it checked out
i may be a bit late, but you probably have inflammation
i got mine 7 months ago and had an appointment a few days ago as well and they put a powerchain ON and im feeling the same way about how the roof of my mounts feels as though it’s being torn apart. i hope it isn’t anything too serious - did your pain ever go away?
I had this for a few months but my orthodontist took it off because I started developing a blister/swelling right where the anchor was pressing up against my pallete. Now my teeth are not aligned in the middle. My two front teeth are way off center. Will my teeth stay like that now? Or is it fixable ?
Also I should note I had this nance appliance because of four extractions I had. There’s still a giant gap on my top left side.
Impossible for me to tell online without knowing your case but Its a good question for your doc!
hey did everything end up working out for you? i’m getting a nance on friday and am also getting 4 teeth removed and you’re comment has worried me!!
