Sometimes the trend that comes along is so flattering to your body type and makes you feel so good and goes with everything you happen to have, so I say it’s perfectly reasonable to keep on wearing it.

true! this is how i feel about low rise and full length tops on me. and the opposite is true too!! for example, i’ve always thought the t shirt layered under spaghetti straps example she mentioned is soooo cute, but every time i’ve tried it for years it just looks really awkward and unflattering on me ): i don’t think it’s outdated, it just simply doesn’t suit me.

One thing I find funny with the “outdated” 2020/2021 trends is that I never saw anyone in real life wearing most of them. I think we mostly got exposed to them on social media so it appeared like they were bigger trends than they actually were.

In England it is constantly the weather for layering long sleeve tops under strappy dresses, otherwise you never get to wear your strappy clothes unless you go on holiday somewhere warm. I think local climate plays a huge role in what people wear around you. And if you live in an area that isn't a big city, or isn't known as a trendy place online...people are still wearing all sorts of things.

OMG I'm obsessed with corsets! As someone really into historical fashion, I was SO happy to finally see a trend from centuries ago come back in style! I love adding little historical touches to my outfits, so corsets are a staple in my wardrobe. I don't care if they're trendy or not, at this point they're a core part of my personal style and I'm not stopping wearing them! I'm always on the look for more.

Trends, in my opinion is mostly just ways to discover new possibilities with clothing, I have discovered so many things I like because they became trendy, and I still wear things from years ago and plan on continuing to as long as I enjoy it, trends just allow for things to come into our consciousness that weren’t there before, and some we like and some we don’t, but we get the opportunity to consider whether we do or not because they are in the public consciousness

Its funny you went with this topic today! Last night i went through my closet and found a sheer striped waterfall cardigan, just the epitome of outdated 2010s fashion. Its in bad shape and very fast fashion and i expected to hate it but i was cold when i put it on to try and so i kept it on, and after spending the evening wearing it i have decided i actually love how it feels to wear it! even if i dont see it slotting that well into anything i'd wear out. Since it's in rough shape (tons of pulls) i am thinking about tracing it and using it as a sewing pattern. I'm still going to try to mend it too
    Great video!

chokers being considered outdated is wild to me bc I always thought of them as timeless. for some reason I feel like having a choker or a short necklace really elevates my outfit and are kind of a staple for me. I didn't even get into tattoo chokers until the past couple of years but I always thought of them as like a 90s/y2k thing bc I remember being a kid in the early 2000s and my sisters making them out of those tiny elastic hair ties. like it just adds so much personality to even the simplest outfits. accessories are so good for really personalizing your outfits in general but I'm a necklace girlie and will forever love chokers, even those 2014 tumblr style ones with the lil crescent moons and stuff, I just wear them in a more modern way bc I'm not a fan of 2014 tumblr fashion personally lol

I think majority of these trends that surfaced from quarantine are js out of fashion now bc at the time people were purchasing them from rly cheap sites (aka shein) and over the years the quality has diminished sm that no one wants to wear them out again. I'm with you on crop sweaters and choker necklaces. I'm from Germany, so we do get cold winters, but you can still wear cropped sweaters if they're not too short and your skirt or jeans are high/mid rise. To stay extra warm I often wear something underneath. I really don't like "regular length" sweaters, they have to be long and oversize or cropped for me.

I like cropped sweaters in theory (especially as a fellow high rise lover), but I've banned myself from getting any. They look cute, but I can't wear them in any weather, so they're really unpractical for me. Where I live it's either too cold for a cropped sweater or too warm for a sweater altogether, no matter cropped or not.
I'm talking about the really cropped ones, though, like the ones at 9:29. The vintage one you own is not as short, I'd totally wear something like that during autumn with absolutely no weather concerns.

I definitely am open to wearing cropped sweaters now I finally found a long white button up in my size. It does help that I can knit them myself, since that makes I have way more say in the style, color and mostly material - as you said, the ones in the stores used to be a lot of acrylic and polyester (sweaters still tend to be mostly those materials now they're not cropped), and it's so nice that I don't have to put up with that!
It also helps that even when it gets cold I usually mostly need more warmth around my shoulders, while the rest of my torso doesn't need that extra layer. Cropped sweaters are perfect for that.

If you can sew even a little, bralettes are one of the easiest things to make from scratch, you just need two pieces of fabric, a longer one for around your torso, some elastic and maybe some lace to sew on the edges (there are a few good tutorials here on youtube).
Definitely recommend for people looking for a new craft project while also getting something out of it that you love to wear (and is specifically made for your own body).
I made one years ago and it's still my favorite bra (also, bralettes basically made me realize bra's didn't have to hurt and I never went back to any other kind of bra, it's both pretty and comfortable).

I absolutely love lace bralettes! They're so dainty and beautiful. I recommend the ones from the Queen of The Foxes!

    I LOVE checkers
like as long as it's not too extreme or overboard i will almost always take a checkered element to my outfit as an accessory, detail, item, bag, etc
I wont ever do checkers on checkers bc that's tacky imo, but I still loveeee them so much

We used to dip dye for the summer holidays because we weren’t allowed dyed hair and then cut the dyed parts off when we went back to school

18:00 if u do a bleach bath (bleach powder, developer and shampoo) since shampoo lathers but bleach doesn’t, u could do 30 developer and do just one application and there will be way less of not no spotting. But do or don’t do whatever u line with ur hair, just wasn’t sure u knew abt bleach baths. ❤❤❤❤

So funny that you mentioned the layered shirts. Growing up as a modest girlie I was always putting a tight fitting tee under a strappy shirt. Recently I've found it cringe and got rid of most of my under tees and over tanks. It is nice to have less pieces in the laundry. I still think it looks good under a casual dress or jumpsuit tho.

Speaking of shirred tops, you should try making one yourself if you haven’t before! I just did that recently and it’s pretty easy. You just need elastic thread for your bobbin and then sew straight lines

i still love all of these, just as much as i love the 2014 tumblr grunge and i just purchased a checkered rug for my new place, some trends are just timeless whether the tiktok fashion police likes it or not - since capris are back in style now (and apparently checkered vans slip ons are a trend now? lol), i think it’s a matter of about two years until younger gen z will be making tiktoks about “discovering how cute skinny jeans are” haha
