Buying Vintage at the Philly Sports Card Show

- It was my first time going to the Philly Sports Card Show, but I was able to walk away with some great deals and some SGC submissions!
The Philly Sports Card Show had an overwhelming amount of vintage. Every rookie card imaginable, but amazingly, I was not there to seek out rookie cards (as shocking as it may seem to some). I was there to find some unique and rare items.
After hanging out with @stavensportscards, @ClementeCollector, @thacardstory5800 @ACollectorsDream and @legendsofthedugout4899, I was observing their pickups and the lightbulb went on. They are a source of inspiration!
Nevertheless, I really enjoyed the experience. I'd strongly recommend it as it was fulfilling!

Thank you so much for sharing the footage of the card show. I’ve been wanting a 1951 Connie Mack All-Star Babe Ruth or any of the cards in the set for a long time. Maybe someday I will finally get one. Congrats on your pickups. Those are some fantastic cards! Please continue to show footage of the card shows. It’s very cool to see the vintage cards. You do a great job of taking your time and showing the cards!

Awesome pick ups Sammy! That silk is so cool! I was at a show today and picked up a 57 topps whitey ford and a 59 topps richie ashburn.

I was at a show in the Chicago area. I wish I was at the Philly show LOL! The show was just a local show not to far from where I live.

Hah. Thanks Jake. Out of all the shows lately, I've felt really pleased with the outcome of this Philly one. I was able to get some items for some nice prices. It's cool to have something in the collection that is hard to price.
The Philly show has always looked like an interesting one to me; especially for prewar!
Nice pickups all. Thanks for filming all the incredible vintage , I just can't believe some of the prices though. I can understand it on some of the super unusual rare pre war , but not the Topps 50s and 60s.
There are good prices on stars and hall of famers, but it would take time and patience to navigate the room.

Sammy Thunder...THANK YOU for the great footage. LOVE the vintage cards. This show you went to has the most fantastic cards Ive ever seen! Here in So California, we just dont have anything close to this many dealers in vintage stuff. Love to buy more after seeing your video. Keep up the great work! By the way, what kind of video camera do you use to take such clear and lighted images? My camera cant get close to this great footage.
Thanks Dave! Really kind words all around man! I hear in California that shows are few and far between. It's a shame. I feel like there should be more! I use my iPhone, but I had it mounted on a chest mount to help stabilize the shot.
Thanks for letting me know about your video footage. My video camera stinks...Too blurry and dark to show in my personal video. As far as So California shows go...they stink. Very few, most of the shows way too small. We only have a couple of good shows a year. We now have the large Burbank Card Show, which just ended a month or so ago and after that, its a waiting game. Good show in San Diego, but thats a trip to get to. Most sellers have newer stuff. Very few vintage dealers.@@SammyThunder

Great pick ups from the show. Your vintage PC is growing by leaps and bounds. Did it feel like some of the raw vintage prices were high. Just from what I saw it did. But as more and more people head over to "vintage land" that will happen as well. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks Dirk. It's a little bit of stepping forward but moving back as well. It's how I'd prefer it though right now. I'm selling off my collection to buy more stuff, so it's a little bit of give and take. Raw prices are always going to be tough to work with because of the potential grade it can land. Some tables will offer better deals. It's just a matter of navigating the room.
Nice stuff Sammy. I always loved the 51 CM cards and finding one in tact with such nice color is a definite win. I appreciate you taking time just showing off showcases at these shows. I can only get to a show maybe once a year and so much of my time usually doing exactly what you show. Quietly looking over all vintage cards just window shopping.

Blown away by your Mathewson pickups. The Phillyshow has become my favorite show because of the quality and the quantity of vintage. It never seems to disappoint. I also made the trek down from NY on Saturday and felt like I was back there again after watching your show footage. Great stuff as always from you.

I think Philadelphia is the city with the longest continuous history of hosting card show. Back to when I was a young guy with hair on top of my head ha hah
That's interesting. It seems like the northeast really leads the way with card shows. I recently looked at some website that gives you a Google Map representation of all the shows that are happening and it's remarkable to see how many shows are happening in the northeast alone.
It's heavily populated and relatively prosperous.@@SammyThunder
One of the best vintage videos I've seen, Now I cant eat breakfast because seeing those Mantles, Clemente, Ruth, Cobb, Gehrig, etc made me sick lol
I'm conflicted with this comment lol. In one instance, I'm glad that you enjoyed the video. However, you then are saying that you're sick of seeing all of said players listed above lol. I'm sorry, but then I start wondering why am I apologizing? lol

I think you’d be surprised. There are cards that are priced high, but you can find lower grade stars and hall of famers for reasonable prices.
