I love Shlohmo and this song. Places saved my life once . . . I feel transported to a different dimension in this song. If I meditate to it it's like I travel through every emotion I've ever felt at every memorable place I've been to. Godly breakdown my friend
I agree brother. He has some pretty cold original pieces he's done, like for me too if was to do a STP cover, Stranglers, Marconi Unions Weightless, there's so many songs this guy would re make and it all be amazing.
magical ... on a par with the original :) you are a deeply talented and inspirational musician I would love to see a video where you explain some of the techniques you use your set up in terms of routing and looping
Watched this guy play live at Splendour in the Grass festival recently.. Amazing set with awesome live drumming with both electronic and drums. For me this totally made the live performance, but I didn't realise how much is done by live instruments as it was mostly a DJ set. I don't think some of the recordings do this music justice. Reminds me of DJ Shadow with the live drums, melancholy feels and laid back sounds. So good.
i was never so blown away by a musician! There are so many questions that come up in my head about how his set up is? if anything is prerecorded? How this single dynamic mic can record the percussion so well? how is he able to play all those instruments at the same time? and then the endresult is so amazing that you can't describe it in words! i love his covers even more than the originals because all the acoustic instruments sound so natural and fit together perfectly! Is this guy also writing his own music? if so i would really appreciate it if someone could send me link to his music because all i can find are the covers!
Max Hasser The audio was probably done over multiple takes and when editing the video they put that version over the video. Not saying he can't play all of this in one take, I'm sure he can
***** Nope. all one take. seen him do it. nothing pre-recorded etc. its awesome, months of preparation funneling down to one single take. showing us all how its done!
Max Hasser he manages most of the things in post-mix I think. His channel has quite a few originals, also a Boiler room set with originals which is amazing.
Modular Mayhem But like in this video there's bass, but he never picks up a bass. Does he have it set up so the uke gets recorded on to two different tracks, one of which is pitched down a lot? edit: nevermind that wouldn't work
I've been watching bink since he started this and i was amazed every frickin time! And this beat here. Is the best one of the bunch. The amount of creativity on this track is unreal. The 2:55 mark blown my brains out of my skull, this man is pure genius & talent!
Definitely inspired to give live looping more of a try now. Most likely would be more inclined to use a Novation Launchpad instead, more space to work with versus a Korg or Akai drum pad.
Hello Carlos, I am glad to see that you are interested in midi instruments. The particular one you are asking about is the Critter and Guitari "pocket piano" farewell.
i dont think it's plugged into his guitar, but his microphone. i think it's electro harmonix or something, and it's actually a guitar pedal (not 100% sure)
BINKBEATS.+R Br Hi there. I love your music and creativity that you have. I confess that I spend hours listening and watching all your videos. For the love of all gods. Could you explain how you use the KORG NANOPAD 2?. I bought mine and I use it like you. Please help!
it looks he's using it to trigger clips in ableton like right before the first bit of bass comes in he cancels the drum loop then right before it drops he activates the drums and the bass it seems like its for the fact that he can't play more than one instrument at the same time as another but still needs to retain song structure
I love Shlohmo and this song. Places saved my life once . . . I feel transported to a different dimension in this song. If I meditate to it it's like I travel through every emotion I've ever felt at every memorable place I've been to. Godly breakdown my friend
It's like he's going through my list of favorite songs and performing covers specifically for me.
WORD
That guitar riff at the end makes me feel like I'm in another world.
The way this guy layers sounds is other- worldly. It's like he offers more than a musical experience. He offers a peek into another dimension.
For some reason this video makes me really ponder human beings, like we evolved into doing this......wow
i love watchin him play everything and pull things outta nowhere, dope flow as always
I need more... more than just these 11 that you remade. Just more...
I agree brother. He has some pretty cold original pieces he's done, like for me too if was to do a STP cover, Stranglers, Marconi Unions Weightless, there's so many songs this guy would re make and it all be amazing.

i know exactly how he felt when he first heard the original

+ntrnka. that weird white box with the metal tines on it is producing the bass.
This guy is so freaking dope .. ! I seriously can't even put it into words how much I appreciate this ...
the world needs more of your art
So much respect for this man.
I thought your other videos were good, but this is incredible. Thanks for this track

Amazing! But what is that instrument that looks like a Kalimba doing the bass, I need one of these so badly!!
Mis respeto.. Exelente trabajo, desde Santiago de Chile!
Wow. Inspiration dude! Real nice.
absolute gem
Holy shit. I'm blown away.
Killed as usual! cant wait to hear the originals!
What is that that keyboard thing the silver box with orange buttons that shows up at 1:27?
this guy makes everything look so easy, he doesn't need a DAW lol
MGallear9 he did though. He used ableton live here.
But I get what you meant though, this guy is surreal
What kind of hi hat is that? Is it from a kid's drum kit? I want it.
Does anyone know what those percussion things at 2:14 are called and where you can get them from? Would be so cool for a home recording setup
Just a joy to watch and listen to. :-)
this dude is crazy ! niceo work , loving those beats !
That was beyond awesome.
Digital Lion by James Blake
The guitar is tunes different but i managed to get the last part on a normal tuning :D good stuff man!
that voice bass is so cussin sick!
Amazing repertoire of covers/ song choices. Hoping he'll do a Purity Ring cover; it just makes sense
Are these covers that he does available to buy anywhere? I've loved every single one. This guy is a musical god
how could 28 people dislike this!
+Alex Bondrila jealous ignorants
Insane. What a great job.
What is the thing that looks like big kalimba tines with guitar pickups? Sounds great.
i've been wondering the same thing, produces such a clean tone.
What a master!
Definitely inspired to give live looping more of a try now. Most likely would be more inclined to use a Novation Launchpad instead, more space to work with versus a Korg or Akai drum pad.
shlohmo would be proud
Please where did you get the electric thumb piano from? i want one so bad
my favourite of yours..
I wonder how they do sound design for these. Pre-processed for each channel?
this is beyond fascinating...
I would love to see you cover The Gaslamp Killer - Nissim
Who said men can't multitask. Brilliant.
How is he recording the kick drum? It’s perfect agh I need to learn Ableton for its live recording ability
incredible. so talented.
I've never seen a kalimba like that before. I cant find one online either. Could some one help?
It looks like it's a diy ting. I would love to buy one.
Where did he get that plate from?
So much depth!
Dude is inspiring!!
Ong it's even better than the original shlohmo would be proud
literally the cutest lil hihat i ever saw
can someone please tell me what the instrument is he plays the bass notes on (the little wooden box with metal 'flickers')
Mastery, worship...
Show much better than watching Shlohmo press play on his Macbook.
Inspirational... man
Best outro!
What is the little rectangle at the front with knobs and buttons that seems to be making the synth soundz?
critter and gutari pocket piano
Nice to see Snowden has found some work.
2:56 is beautiful, fucking sweet man!
yeaah, best part!
Very creative! very nice!
Thx so much this is amazing!
whaou! impressive stuff!
anyone know how to make that vocal effect ? like using ableton or something? any help would be appreciated
what's the name of that plucked metal instrument he's using to create the lower bass notes? he uses it a fair bit, i wanna get one
no one even comes close. In a league of his own
you got it .....when you play that main instrument called the heart it shines through...one.
ECA4
Sick beyond belief
does anyone know what the piece of equipment at 1:25, bottom right is?
also what the instrument to make bass is, above that ^ 1:25?
*****
I am kind of unsure of which one you are talking about. but the bottom right one is a midi keyboard and the one above it is a Kalimba.
Hello Carlos, I am glad to see that you are interested in midi instruments. The particular one you are asking about is the Critter and Guitari "pocket piano" farewell.
R Br
thank you so much!
Thanks to both of you guys, for answering and asking the question.
what Is that think plugged into guitar at 3:33 where hes changing knob
i dont think it's plugged into his guitar, but his microphone. i think it's electro harmonix or something, and it's actually a guitar pedal (not 100% sure)
mooer pitchbox
Someone knows more song with that guitare sound effect at 2:56 ?
He just did slide guitar. I couldn't think of an electronic song that incorporates it but it's mostly on rock songs.
Anyone know how he is doing this? What software allows him to record loop and overdub like it was midi?
11219tt ableton live
what is the guitar at 2:43 pls
soooo talanted !

Don't suppose anyone knows the model of Ukulele he is playing? I was going to buy a Kala myself.
