I never had goldfish in almost 50 years of fishkeeping until last year when I bought some for an aquaponics project at school. At the end of the school year, my wife and I ended up building a 700 gallon (2500 L) pond at home for them. They're happy and we're happy. We were inspired last year by your channel to enter the beautiful world of aquascaping. We've completed three aquariums so far.
There are some plants like anubias, java ferns, bulbitis, and some other thick, hard leaf plants that u can have with goldfish, once they try the hard leaf they lose the interest so they don't touch them
It's a beautiful tank with beautiful fish. I don't miss the plants at all. I find most people over do the plants, and that's coming from a plant lover. I love this tank and love seeing gold fish getting some love and attention.
I was prepared not to like this tank, but I don’t know why I doubted you! The hard scape is stunning! And the fish look like jewels. The whole thing is so different and so striking. I’m in love 😍

In dark times like this people like you and your colleagues are giving me hope! Green Aqua ❤ Your eight gold fish can really bring us all luck!
Glad that hardscape forward adg style tanks are getting more love. This is my favorite style right now. Reminds me of an intersection of aquascaping and a biotope
Honestly guys, I’ve watched this build a few times. IMO add just a few Anubis. This is my favorite build. This tank would look amazing With US natives too. I love the raw river/Stream look
I never imagined that I'd watch an entire video about goldfishes (not my favourite fish for sure). Just loved it Ps: putting sand over the superglue was a great hack
I‘m almost a friend of goldfish with a natural bodyshape. But for this tank, they are really good. I like the contrast between the fish’s colour and the black stones
Nice scape :) I really liked the emphasis on explaining the in- and outlets and skimmer. Goldfish are soooooo difficult to maintain in a scape and keep it looking nice. May we have an update in a few weeks?
Wow, awesome Tank, no words to explain the beauty of the fish and the hardscape one telescope is highlight which really makes other fishes highlighted and also brings luck for sure by absorbing the negative energy, because I have goldfish with me form 1998 Thank You so Much Green Aqua
The worlds oldest goldfish was from the uk and it live its entire life except the last five years in a fish bowel. It lived for 43 years. The smaller the aquarium means 1 fish. 50 % water change weekly and since a smaller aquarium use distilled water 💦to do it . If you don’t want the expense for the distilled water when the tank is filled up to the line but a grease marker line in one place and refill the tank after evaporates below it. Feed it flake food lightly during the day . Siphon bottom of the tank . Don’t play doctor. Use safe for water changes but not needed if you only use distilled water or refill Evaporation. Get a small uv steriliser and use it to keep the water clear . Just keep it clean and it’s that simple.
Thank you for this build. While we may strive for a contest-style slick aquarium, we cannot ignore the other aspects of the hobby, all of which are beautiful in their own way. We also keep Koi here at our farm in Canada, and the design limitations offer interesting approaches for overwintering them. The Koi are no less beautiful than our planted tanks. Aquascaping requires livestock, but all livestock should be welcome, be them tetras, shrimp, or carp. Thank you for extending your expertise to these areas and we hope you do more to showcase the wide range of possibilities within the hobby.
The hardscape is one of the best I've seen in these central tanks. Gobys and Hillstream loaches with white clouds would look amazing in something like this.
I avoided goldfish for many years. The wife brought home two Oranda goldfish one year ago because she could not resist their cute and energetic nature. These days the Oranda aquarium receives much more attention and comments than our 10 times more expensive 120p aquascape. The thing is these fish really grow on you. There needs to be more videos educating new aquarium owners in terms of goldfish scapes. This is because these fish are in no way a beginners fish. They require extremely good filtration, by nature they upend and destroy many things in the aquarium, also they have an endless list of ailments that require attention. Either way it's an extreme pleasure to take care of them and their environment. Thanks Green Aqua for giving goldfish a chance. I hope other aquascapers on TH-cam can also help to make goldfish a part of the aquascaping world.
Love to read your words and feedback. Appreciate for that. We loved how this tank turned out and it was a very unique and nice spot in the showroom. I think we will come back later with another build as we enjoyed it more than we thought. Thanks again 💚
I love this tank! I want to try something similar. I think emersed plants from the hardscape with just roots in the water would enhance the beauty of this but I love how simple the scape is while still being very intricate
So beautiful and serene! I love goldfish but avoided them since I knew from past experience how destructive they can be… This episode is certainly inspiring! Hardscape can be beautiful if done properly as your beautiful creation shows. Creativity beyond the box! Love you guys!!!
Amazing Balazs! The scape looks beautiful and so calming. The goldfish add nice color to it and they really pop! Once again great job all around Green Aqua! Bravo 👏
I love this 🙂 The tank is amazing and the fish are so beautiful. Goldfish are my first love, I started off with them about 9 years ago and cannot see myself not having some, I have 5 at the moment 🙂
Thinking outside the box is something worthwhile! In my case, if I'd build a goldfish tank I'll try a triangle shape riparium with plant mass only in the emersed part and decresing in volume as it comes closer to the submersed part.
I was really surprised that I saw first not green tank on your channel! Next will be a Malawi or Tanganyika? ;) There are many fans of these African lakes. It will be very exciting to see these kind of aquarium made by green aqua team.
Because of the wood in the hardscape, it is possible that the Gold fishes might get hurt....Usually they are not introduced in hardscapes that have sharp edges.
We do not see issues with it after a month. I guess it can work until the fish is small like this and the tank is not overpopulated. Fish is not chased by other ones etc. We will keep this installation for a few months only and keep an eye on the fish daily if any problems appear.
Thank you, my dear. I think the problem for many people is having a plant with a goldfish I wish you had solved this problem by placing the right types of plants in an appropriate way inside the tank However, they are beautiful, and so are your designs always. Greetings

Thanks so much :) On sump...Has pros and cons, just like with any other filter. We had one in the past under one of these shallow tanks. Still building them on client installations if that is the best option.
Nah, they're fine. Fish don't really jump if their space and health are adequate. We talked about this in the fish tutorial videos, you might want to check them out. Cheers.
Great build, it's good to see something different every now and then even though I do love your planted tanks. Also awesome that goldfish bowls are illegal for you. I live in the US and have an aquarium cleaning business. Makes me sad to see how some people treat their pets.
Thank you so much for doing this Balasz! Personally i'm a big fan of this style! Can you elaborate on the downsides, maybe, on the drilled in inlet/outlet. Because why is it not done it all of the other aquariums? - Personally i am looking at a long shallow, wouldnt it be the optimal solution instead of the hoses ?
I don't think that there are many downsides. Perhaps the hassle of drilling the tank, finding the proper thru-holes, and maybe a case where you might want to build something that is exactly on the top of the hole, and the thing is in your way... Can't think of anything else. The plus side is huge.
Hi i have a question in most of your tanks you use csnister filters over sumps. Have you tried sumps with overflow for planted tanks? Or is it just not good for planted tanks?
We had that in the showroom as well. But we were using it on several client installations. There are pros and cons this is one of the reasons why we keep running canisters in the showroom these days.
You said a big truth: "Aquascaping is not a natural aquarium" . Someone has the courage to say this, congratulations. Since several years, I think that "Nature" is far from aquascaping. I am seeing lot of tanks that are "false" and not reproducing a river or a lake. This looks more a business than a real, natural, ecological environment. And You, of course, know very well what I mean
youve managed to create an amazing effect with the hardscape and the lighting. i take aback when hearing the words "goldfish" but the way the layout is executed, the choice in color is making the fish pop even though they are just common quality goldfish..
the scape is great good job green aqua 👏👏👏, I'm just concern about those spiky wood under water, do you guys think that those parts can hurt the goldfishes body ? specially those fancy tail it might get tear by those spikes.
Thanks, Thomas, yup i hear your concerns. We will keep this installation for a short time (a few months) so we will not have problems with it. But with larger fish or more fish in a tank like this could lead to issues.
@@GreenAquaShop i hope one day i will be able to Visit green aqua gallery, i am looking forward to see all those beautiful planted tanks. and also all of you guys you are all so great
Now You made it, even goldfish aquarium can look very nice (not what we typically see). But since You mentioned it, how is Your outside pond? There was no update about the pond for long time.
The pond is fine, the fish are growing nicely, they are even too big for this little pond now... We've been working on the garden too, but did not have enough time to finish it, so perhaps we'll post something on it next year.

What brand of canister filter is best to use for goldfish tank?
