Geoff brought the bop and increased the menace, just what this song needed.
Thanks for saying that the song was soooo old. I'm old enough to have heard this song and now I know that I'm soooo old.
Jim Croce really started his singing career in 1966. He was a great folk singer. He and his group were in Louisiana to do a concert in 1973. The charter plane was flying them out but the pilot had a heart attack and hit a tree before he had enough height and it was a fatal crash. Jim's son does his dad's songs in concert. Geoff did a great job with this one. I'd love to hear him do Time in a Bottle or Operator. Both are songs that stay with you. My husband and I were in high school in 66 and were heartbroken when he died.
i grew up listening to Jim Croce. He died in 1973 about an hour from where we lived. It was a really sad day when he died. His song Time In a Bottle will bring you to tears. Also, Operator and Bad, Bad LeRoy Brown are really good Croce songs.
James Joseph Croce (Say it as Kroh-chee) was an American folk and rock singer-songwriter. Between 1966 and 1973. His breakthrough c)ame in 1972, with his third album, You Don't Mess Around with Jim.
Jim Croce sang this much higher, of course, and the scat was much earlier in the piece. Loved that he included it.
Thanks for your reaction! This is a cover of a song by Jim Croce, popular singer and songwriter from the early and mid 1970s. I remember his album and The Carpenters were the first two record albums I bought with my allowance when I was a kid. We use to enjoy singing his songs when we were kids and we all remember that awful day when Jim Croce was killed in a plane crash ( Our school choir had a tribute concert and we sang this song along with 'Bad Bad Leroy Brown' and "Time In A Bottle'). I am not sure if this one was a patron request but it suits Geoff and he covers it well.
Original by Jim Croce 1972
you are right you don’t miss around with Geoff!
Thanks!
This was written and sung in 1972 by Jim Croce (crow chee). Was one of his many top hits. Bad Bad Leroy Brown, Time In A Bottle are a couple more that I can remember right now.
I had his cassette with these songs on it. I was 13 then.
Am now waiting for the BTS video.
Jim Croak? (Ribbit! Ribbit! LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
