  • In this episode of our Regency Renovation project, John takes a look at all the bathroom renovation progress and getting them all ready for the tiling process. John gives you an insight to the use of elements tile backer boards as a waterproofing system and also when to use moisture resistant plaster boards. The floors are all being finished off, using plywood or reclaimed timber floorboards. Continue following our progress on this #RenovationProject as our man Greg the tiler will be back in action soon!!
    A huge thank you to our show sponsors, MKM Building Supplies. We highly recommend you check out their website for all your construction material needs!

    Dont you need to use reclaimed floor boards? Great work as always 👏

    • @BuildWithAE
      @BuildWithAE  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Reclaimed boards aren't required, providing they are a similar material, which in this property would of been Baltic Fir. As Baltic forrests are now protected, we have used Douglas Fir, which is an acceptable substitute.
      Hope this helps.

    Are you not useing tongue and groove floor birds ? ...

  • @BODGE71
    @BODGE71 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Is that a concealed TMV in the wall? How do you get access to it if it leaks? I thought you had to use a surface mounted TMV in situations (where it wouldn't be accessible) like this?

    • @BuildWithAE
      @BuildWithAE  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The whole system is fully pressure tested before anything is covered up; so we're extremely confident there will be no leaks. There is a concealed TMV in one of the bathrooms, which in the highly unlikely event of a leak, can be accessed from the other side of the wall.
      Hope this helps.
      All the best, John 😊

      If it's tile you can actually cut the grout and tile out as a whole with the elements board attached and they do a resealing kit for the board. Also most Grohe and high end brands are now all serviceable from the front.

    • @BuildWithAE
      @BuildWithAE  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      All of the external walls are receiving lime plaster, because the age of the property requires it. The walls need to be able to breathe, and the lime plaster, combined with the external lime render, achieves that. We are only using Elements board / moisture resistant board in wet areas.
      Hope this helps.
