Regular low-tier enemies drop multiple legendaries, and there are more legendaries than non-legendaries. Messed up grenade manufacturers and shields, messed up gear like dahl hellfire, legendary cov Sledge's shotgun, blablabla.)
So I think you guessed my answer to your question 😅: nope, I don't play it. I played it with Moze when it came out half-finished, half-assed and it disgusted me. But I completed the campaign, because I love borderlands, and wanted to give it a chance. The more I played, the more I regretted it.

I'll be real, BL3 carried me through fall 2019 with handsome jackpot being the perfect cherry on top. It'll always hold a special place in my heart despite it's flaws

Same here too. I adore this game and I’m actually one of the players who’s picked it back up again. Dry month for games and I saw they added some cosmetics, don’t really care but I felt compelled to max level moze being the only charecter I hadn’t maxed out and I couldn’t be happier playing this game again.
I'm guessing it's a combination of the recent steam summer sale and people who went from playing the first descendant and are looking to play a different looter shooter so they stumbled upon borderlands

Honestly, with the amount of videos Moxsy is putting out on the first descendant, his borderlands 3 build videos are probably showing up on their feeds

The gunplay and movement is a lot of fun. The thing that a majority of people didn't like was the villains and the story. I get it, but it's still a damn fun game.

I think people are just in a bordered phase rn, I’ve been playing 2 with online on and I get almost a full party every session which is surprising
2 has always had a very active player base
Depends on your character level, around level 50 it's harder to find player and the more the level is high the you have to prey

Look it up, the only thing that pops up that even TRIES to track PS numbers is a third party site called ps-timetracker, and even then it can only track ppl who add their account as a friend because PS doesn’t let anyone access their tracking APIs. They may make number announcements for certain games when they’re doing well, but they do not have a list of player counts anywhere. Also, the only console I have is my PS5, no one’s coping lmao.
If they let you skip cut scenes with the twins this game will definitely make a comeback.

I had to play 10 for it on Xbox

Another factor could be that it became free for PSN although I don't know if that carries any weight

@@TheRaven8425but PlayStation doesn’t make their numbers public or let anyone use the API that would let them track the numbers so there are no PlayStation player counts lol. it’s the same issue with helldivers, the devs have talked about it.
from what I have seen almost all borderlands games have actually had a spike in players, not as much as bl3 but still noticeable

Despite being a long time Borderlands player, with over 300 hours in BL2, I just played Borderlands 3 for the first time this year. It has been so much fun, the gameplay is unmatched. Ever since I finished the main story I've been playing constantly, going through the dlcs too.
Bl3 DLCs are some of the best DLC content ever.
I know recently it was a free game on PS5 and Pandora's box was on sale.
I'm a PC player, but my son has friends on console and his friends have been picking it up and there is cross play and is still one of the best cooperative shooters.
I think that has a lot to do with it
I speak from personal experience that the Borderlands movie news made me come back to the borderlands community after years of not caring at all. Haven't even seen it yet, but just looking at the trailers a while back got me so disappointed that it made me miss Borderlands lol, and I believe that a lot of old time players had a similar experience. Feels good to play BL2 again.
Literally started playing BL3 today, and it lined up with my recent purchase of a new graphics card as well, so I can play it without stuttering.
I still play BL3 as crossplay so not everyone needs the same system and I enjoy how well co-op feels like anyone can play together
As someone who plays on console with no access to mods, I stick mostly with 3 for gameplay reasons.
I have a feeling it's also because a lot of people are experiencing it now when it's actually a solid game, meanwhile when i still played it, the content was getting progressively worse with every update. By the time they fixed it with Mayhem 11(i remember i left right as arms race got released i think), most of us were checked out. Heck out of my friend group I lasted the longest, all of them after guardian takedown got released, i still remember how on day 1, even with mayhem 10 perfect gear (gear that literally melted everything on solo play in any other piece of endgame content), we just barely made it to Scourge on Mayhem 2.0, difficulty level 5.
I tried the game in its current state and yes, it is amazing, peak Borderlands combat. Even so, I will never give it any more of my time, especially after Gearbox scammed me with the tiny tina game, I'll just keep playing 1, 2 and tps whenever i feel the need.
BL3 is one of the free game this month (July 2024) for PS+ Essential, perhaps has gotten a lot of new/returning players playing the game again crossplaying with Steam owners?
BL3 is a good game... people just complain about it cuz it lacks Handsome Jack

I play borderlands 3 because there is a certain kind of charm that gets emitted from playing the games I know they aren't perfect but that adds to the charm of the games when I play it I feel a part of the environment I'm in at that time
I do think its the movie. We’ve seen movies and shows of long running game franchises without recent releases correlate with re-invigorating the older games. Its been a long time since a lot of fans like myself have touched a Borderlands game and the movie plus recent steam sale reminded me of the games and after not playing Borderlands for over 4 years, I was reminded of a series I once was obsessed with and now i’m really enjoying Borderlands 3 despite never even completing a single play through back when it dropped.
I got the game on launch day in 2019 for the PS4 and still play Borderlands 3 on PS5. I play it because I enjoy the game and for no other reason.
I love all the Borderlands games and am always looking to get my friends into the series as well, which means that lately I've taken a lot of Borderlands newbies through their first playthroughs to help prep for the movie, no matter what its outcome may be. I wouldn't be surprised if there is at least a few others doing the same.
Got it free on PS plus. First time Borderlands player. I haven’t been this addicted to a game in years. Love it!

Borderlands has always been an important game to me since 2009, BL3 was the only one I played through once and never touched again, until now. Seeing it on sale for 9$ was enough to get me back in and I'm enjoying myself, I forgot how good the gun play was.
I personally just came back to borderlands taking a break from apex legends and other pvp fps games,
I didn't like bl3 much when it was new but replaying it with some background music has been enjoyable.
I’m playing it again but on PS5 (obviously no redux) but that’s because the game itself is just really fun. Been with the series since 2009 so of course I’ll have the urge to play it again.
Bl3 on steam has been reaching prices of 13.99 here in Canada (just for base game) so perhaps people are playing it because the movie is coming out and maybe other fans are just coming back for summer
Yeah this update even if it was only for cosmetics got me back into grinding and having fun again
I started playing Borderlands 3 late last year. It's always hovered around 4k players. People just never payed attention to the player count.

I think that's part of the comeback people are giving it a second chance. If you just ignore the story and know where you're going, it's really fun. The weapon skins the guns. I really wish they would have added pearls and serifs buttttt it's fineeeeeee 😢😢😢
It was free for ps5. I know that's not Steam but it can still be correlated by friends getting back into the game.

I recently started tidying up builds and playing about 2 weeks ago. ive kept playing on Epic because the game came out for free on Playstation and i met some super cool dudes to game with who dont cheat and want to grind. its been nice. my two cents

I just started borderlands 3 again with a brand new ps4 player and it took us like 3 hours to get off Pandora after agreeing to speedrun it cuz we stopped for so many pictures

i just recently went back to bl3 bc it has the best endgame, most varied builds to make and the most fun gameplay (im getting a bordrillion dollars from gearbox to say this frfr)
I'm one of those new players, and currently me and my friends are just banging through the game... I just picked it up on the steam summer sale bcoz I wanted something to play from the FPS genre which is a bit different and offers hours of gameplay... And after playing it, I just feel in love with its gameplay (I haven't played any BL game before). I didn't knew about the redux mod or any other youtuber streaming it!
Ive actually planned on playing the game again recently for some reason, i have no clue why i just really want to play the game again i dont know why, its crazy how multiple ppl feel the same

I just finally got back into gaming, I only started with bl2 in 2019. I purchased bl3 soonafter but didn't play until like april of 24. I love the game so much, I've sunk 120 hours in now, my most played game on Steam
Definitely do BL3 Redux builds for each character. I know that with skills and all changing, I’ve had a hard time with the mod at different points. A good build suggestion for each character would help be great content. Also where to find different legendaries and higher rarity gear would be great. Thanks for the amazing mod!
As someone who hasn't looked up anything borderlands related , my youtube feed is full of BL content right now. I think its a combination of multiple factors coming in at once:
1: The borderlands movie. Whether people like it or not, it is gathering attention. Algorithims be doing something for us to get our attention.
2: Steam did have a summer sale for like atleast 50% off very recently ( based on the video upload)
3: Other looter shooters have come out or had content drops, which tickles the lizard brain sometimes. Destiny 2 over a month ago got its Final Shape Expansion , The First Descendents came as well a few weeks ago. The venn diagram of players who enjoy either of these games and would enjoy Borderlands has some overlap!
4: Its that time of the year where you feel like you gotta get back into Borderlands for 2 weeks and have a great time. Just like that 2 week Minecraft phase. Especially on the holliday periode, its easier to get yourself and 3 homies together on some fun.
The game is on sale for 5 bucks. 20 for all the content. Quit stroking yourself to a mod barely anyone in the community knows about 💀

Redux is the reason I installed 3 in the last week, but also because I found out I can wear Moxxi's hat.

I go back to Borderlands 2 every once and awhile but I cant seem to get back to playing Borderlands 3
I was replaying Borderlands 2 recently to farm some god roll that I'm missing, and then suddenly I wanted to play to Borderland 3 again for some unknown reason. And then I see this video.
Do i think bl3 was a big let down? yes, do i think the story is bad? yes, do i think the characters and uninteresting? yes, do i think the nerfs were stupid? yes. But it still has the best gameplay of any game i've ever played strong enough to overpower my dislike for it.

Can only speak for myself, i play BL3 of and on alot mostly because i can play it Offline! I baught the game for my daughter a few months ago and she in turn got her friends interested because it was a shooter they could play together online.
I myself dont play the game with mods, neither does my daughter. So who knows, it is still a fun game to play regardless.
tbh its most likely the psn plus, with bl3 being on ps plus i had my two nephews and sister asked me to play with them on PlayStation bl3, and since i already had bl3 from launch i joined them on pc due to crossplay being a thing, i wouldn't be surprised if others had the same experience, and/or combined with the sales and maybe sprinkle a bit of the movie dehype and the modding scene, i wouldn't be surprised to see the player numbers spike up a bit.
although while looking at the charts, it seems like borderlands 3 is at a current all time low, (well maybe not ALL TIME low but it's low in relative to the past few months) while bl2 seems to bounce up and down quite hard for some reason, my two cents is that maybe people who likes borderlands games are just getting bored and burnt out and are now just hopping between the two games, now with some more new content creators popping out from the borderlands games people probably got more motivated to play the games, i kinda got the itch to play some bl2/3 when i saw miquel do the 25x one life randomizer runs, and some of darksmokes speedruns, mikeydubs also got me to reinstall bl2 to play some rougelands.

Being endorsed by kotaku is certainly not something to strive for or be proud of. It is actually something to be wary of. It is a red flag that people should question your affiliations and motivations.
I started playing BL3 for the first time since the directors cut came out, and the main reason was the sale convincing my friends to give it a try, so I redownloaded it and started a 4 player run, which also convinced me to do single player runs of the Vault Hunters I never gave a try before.
Id only bother playing bl3 or Wonderlands with redux. You definitely help keep the game alive. We appreciate your work.

I kind of am playing BL3 right now, and I kind of hated it after the first 6 months. I jumped back in as my rotation of games from 2009-2020 on my ancient PS4 ran their course, and I wanted to put down the sword and pick up the guns for a minute. Next thing you know I am min-maxing on m11 and seeking the most DPS I can eek out with the base game (plus the purple tree). It really is inexplicable.
Started to play both BL3 and wonderlands for the redux mods again, I think the sale may be one factor to get more players, with all the content released you can get all for cheap in sale

I just installed it the other day, generally because I got into that itch to play Borderlands again. Smashed through 2 for the billionth time, and decided to try out BL3 again and see if my perspective changes.
Honestly i enjoy all borderlands games, Presequel and 2 and the first one have a special place in my heart
When I finished with the D4 season, i needed something to quickly play in the background. I blame Stone Swan
I play Borderlands 3 mostly because I enjoy the gunplay, and I've done twice now a playthrough of the 4 Main games. I don't hate the game like a lot of others would, I'd say it might be either my second or third favourite behind The Pre-Sequel as I've always liked that game despite it's limited content, I don't mind free cosmetics for 3 as I love collecting what I can, and I will probably enjoy this game for a long while.
I got bored, installed it, made a new character, got bored after the saving vaughn and uninstalled. I fr didnt even know there were bl3 mods. Still have an undying love for the series and will never forget the countless hours I put into bl2 and bl1, 3 just didn't hit the same gspot for me idk.
Borderlands 3 was free on PlayStation, and I loved the game so much, So I re downloaded it to my ps5, I had it for my ps4, I will def be playing it again. I enjoy it a lot.
Borderlands 3 is currently free to download on Playstation Plus. I'm literally downloading now. I wouldn't usually, but hey, free is free right? So maybe this has helped to bolster player numbers 🤷🏾♂️
I’m currently re-playing through borderlands 3 as Fl4k a character I’ve never played before (I really only play moze and amara) , I’m on Xbox series S so I don’t have mods but the reason is because I started watching killerSix again and it just lit the spark for me again, tbh I would love to play it on the pc but I don’t think my pc can handle it and especially with mods.
If I remember correctly BL3 mods won't really make the game heavier
For me it was because enough time has passed since playing wonderlands that my borderlands burnout is gone and im interested in playing again
I feel the summer sale has a lot to do with it. Also, bl3 does have crossplay, and it is on one of the free PS plus free games this months. Meaning your PS5 buddies getting into borderlands 3 might be an incentive for some people to get bl3 on the summer sale so they can all play together.
I knew I wasn’t bugging bro! All my friends are playing now it’s actually crazy but at least for me since I play on PlayStation, the reason there’s a lot of influx of new players on console is due to it being for free at the moment
Been playing since day 1. Big fan of the gameplay. Sadly. I play on console so I doubt I'll ever get a chance to check out either redux mods but straight truth if I could get those mods on console that would bring me back to playing haaaardcore. Killin the game epic keep it up brotherman!!
I'm currently playing it for the first time on PS5 after buying it on super-sale. BL2 is one of my favorite games, but I avoided 3, because it looked annoying. I did get annoyed with the base game, but I think the DLCs are a lot of fun.

A friend of mine had never played through Borderlands 3 before, so he and I are running it in co-op, at the moment.
Things I would add to make borderlands 3 a little more fun
2 new classes
New weapon/item rarity
Upgrade to unreal engine 5
Option to change to the world drop chance from what it is now to 0.5 percent chance
Have the dedicated loot drops weapons buffed but harder to get they can change them to dark orange rarity
More raid bosses
Change it to where when you do the Wotan fight you can spawn right at the boss
Fix fl4ks 4th skill tree
dialog skip mod got me back in, also stacking it with redux ;)
The deluxe edition was 20 dollars on Xbox and I just finished BL2. So it felt like the obvious next step

Weird. I started playing again recently as well. Now that I know it's a trend, I wonder what influenced it. Maybe the promise of a BL4 in the next year?
I feel like its a combo of Redux and other streamers and youtubers popping up and absolutely blowing up. Lilgasmask666 (my dad) is likely one of the fastest growing borderlands content creators and hes getting well over 100k views per video. On top of that he and other streamers have inspired more borderlands creators. I have been seeing new creators popping up all over my feed and most of them are pretty solid. Nexus also seems to be popping off more too so Redux is pretty easy to notice too
The movie probably has a lot do with the uptick, but I suspect the update also helped. Also, It's a free download on PS Plus. Wonder if Microsoft Xbox did the same thing.
