I have rescued many laptops from the scrap heap by replacing their "spinning rust" drive with a SSD and increasing the amount of RAM installed. The SSD would vastly improve your user experience on the desktop as well. Because of the slow speed of laptop hard drives, slower than desktops, many people will literally throw out laptop with a similar or somewhat better set of specifications to the desktop you feature in this video. Replace the spinning rust with an SSD, get the memory up to 8 Gig...and you have a laptop that will handle most of the tasks the majority of people need.

You will learn that Dell will not sell you a service plan for these Amazon refurb pc's as they are deemed to old. The PC in this presentation is circa 2018. Amazon will provide no tech support but will swap the unit for another within the first 90 days. Dell will provide a tech support session at $99 per occurrence but no yearly service plan. If these refurb's last a full year you are a winner a $125. I made a similar purchase about 60 days ago.

Be aware that if you purchase one of these make sure it has a generation 8 processor or higher. Windows 10 support from Microsoft will be discontinued sometime in 2025. It is my understanding that windows 11 will not work on pregeneration 8 processors.
Dont do this. Spent twice the money and get thrice the pc. The motherboards in these bottleneck the shit out of everything you attach to it. Seriously I did it twice one time with this exact pc and compared. It just does not have the power to push a decent GPU either. Upgrade the power supply and it still sucks.
More cores doesn't always mean faster. The software needs to support multi threading to make use of it. Gaming systems are usually less cores like 4-8 with a higher Ghz since most games don't support big cores.
I got your computer but I don't have the newer processor or 3.0 usb plugins. My optiplex 7010 looks quite different than the one you're selling. 3470 cpu and 3.2 GHz. Also, Amazon charged me $136 instead of your $125,

Wow... Nice
I insist that you go back several years to all your previous solar generator reviews, featuring units with built-in UPS, and rerun them by unplugging THIS computer. :-)
Do you still have to purchase antivirus software?
Both AVG and Avast are free.
Screw the boring PC. I want a review of the Liquid Death
Looks like the Grim Leafer Iced Tea. Never tried it, but if you like it, there's a good chance it's OK. Just sad to learn it's not beer ;)
For me, it has a nostalgic taste that reminds me of a local iced tea I grew up drinking. It also has B vitamins to help keep me lucid all night...
@@HOBOTECHPerfect nanoreview. I see I can buy it on Amazon. Might give it a try. Love the B drinks and I love tea. I shall consume it with white gloves and two fists
My age is showing, thanks Hobo. It doesn’t look bad ✅
Is it capable of running Windows 11? Windows 10 will be not supported after October 2025.
I bought a 163€ set up (monitor, keyboard and musse too) dell optiplex 755 it says that it has
8gb ram
128 gb
Windows 11 pro (The owner probably meant windows 10 pro ill edit this comment when i get the set up)
The question is will it be able to run roblox?
Even with low graphics
Got my PC today its pretty fast for what i want it for. One thing i think there is prob a number of different models. I got a Bt lady bug keyboard with the same name mouse. i didnt get a Blue tooth Dongle. I did get the WIFI one. Im guess the guts are pretty much the same> Processor- Intel Core TM i5-4570S CPU @ 2.90GHz 2.90 GHz
Installed RAM 8 GB
What seller did you buy from? That makes a big difference.

Circuit-Tech I have the 22 in screen
Can you update to windows 11 or is that cpu on windows compatibility list?
It's not W11 compatible.
Update, Microsoft juuuuust relented on the 2 year ban it has on free upgrades.
You *might* be able to do a runaround by using an old windows 11 iso to upgrade windows 10 offline with your legit key and maybe, just maybe it will take it fait de acompli
But will it run Star Citizen?
Be aware that if you purchase one of these make sure it has a generation 8 processor or higher. Windows 10 support from Microsoft will be discontinued sometime in 2025. It is my understanding that windows 11 will not work on pregeneration 8 processors.
Yep, I have zero plans to upgrade any of my systems to Widows 11. In fact, I have a W11 PC that I'm thinking about downgrading. I hate W11 that much.
I was hoping you would play Call of Duty and shoot your semi at it.
Wish mine would work 🙃
That's an Optiplex 7040 SFF i5-6500. It uses DDR4 memory.
The memory I pulled out of it is DDR3L 1.35v.
@@HOBOTECHInteresting
Has anyone tried to use the internet portion by hotspot ing off a cell phone?
Please note that the GDDR4 version of the 1030 is half as fast in many games. The DDR4 memory cripples performance.
Nearly everything is easier to do on computer. It does hurt me to see you totally skip the dedicated graphics card.
I did install a dedicated GPU...
Sounds like a delluva deal.
i dont know all of this high tech stuff about computer gaming but if i can play serious sam and counter strike on this im buying.
anyone know?
Of course it will ...
Yes
Other cheap tech is good
Try Samsung galaxy DEX videos
Can t connect to a Wi-Fi signal from a cell phone and run??
you'd need to add a wifi card that would be new enough to see your hotspot on your cell and yes it would connect to the internet.
@@logun1970 Thanks for the info.
👍
Dont do this. Spent twice the money and get thrice the pc. The motherboards in these bottleneck the shit out of everything you attach to it. Seriously I did it twice one time with this exact pc and compared. It just does not have the power to push a decent GPU either. Upgrade the power supply and it still sucks.
If you look they have a test for computers with no GPU. Your running a test for fast computers.
The GPU is built into the CPU and supports HD gfx. The test works just fine.
Quad core? Shit I got 16 cores on my laptop. Let me look it up you might be 24. But of course mines is in the $2400 range lol
More cores doesn't always mean faster. The software needs to support multi threading to make use of it. Gaming systems are usually less cores like 4-8 with a higher Ghz since most games don't support big cores.
im a super gamer and that graphics card sucks nothing smaller than a rtx 2070 up i have a rtx 3080
It's not for uber gaming, but for basic gaming or running older games at higher settings. My main system has a water cooled RTX 3090.
I refer to you as a ultra geek, so why aren't you showing Linux as the o.s. Just saying from a 20 year Linux user...
I got your computer but I don't have the newer processor or 3.0 usb plugins. My optiplex 7010 looks quite different than the one you're selling. 3470 cpu and 3.2 GHz. Also, Amazon charged me $136 instead of your $125,
Did you get it from United PC Tek? As I said in the video, different sellers will offer different packages.
@@HOBOTECH I followed your link to the computer and bought it solely on your video showing HP keyboard and mouse (not) as well as upgrades on internal hardware(not). There was wifi plug but no Bluetooth plug included. I don't want to imply you intentionally misled, I follow a lot of your recommendations. Maybe a follow up video letting people know what you get isn't guaranteed. United PC TEK? Look, like I said, I followed your link to a specific computer is all I know.
Ha Ha, they are now $136 on Amazon 😢
U snooze, U Lose
Be sure to click the link for "other sellers". It may be at a lower price.
Actually, that's a DB-9 serial port, not a VGA port.
dam it . I clicked on your links and brought the PC and speaker and Low profile video card and leads and memory .. The pc I got says Optiplex but no slot for the video card ????????????? looks like i will have to send it all back

@@HOBOTECH hi thanks for mesage . ni I got it from SJcomputers looks like they sent a del 9010 , helpful on phone so it looks like they will swap it out for me

Yes cheap tech!
No thanks.
Hobo why cheapen your brand :)
