In Surat Faatir, Chapter 35 verse 6, Allah (SWT) says, “Indeed, Shaytan (Satan) is an enemy to you; so take him as an enemy.” One of the weapons at Satan’s disposal is his whispering.
What does it mean for Satan to whisper to us? How do we draw the line between his whisperings and our own thoughts? What is the relationship between these whisperings and obsessive-compulsive disorder?
In this episode, host Mohamad Zaoud talks to Sr. Najwa Awad, a fellow at Yaqeen Institute and author of the paper, “Clinicians, Imams, and the Whisperings of Satan.”

It gets so hard sometimes 🥺 May Allah help everyone who’s going through this ❤️‍🩹 You also please make dua for me

Does your suffering takes you closer yo Allah or makes you go far from him?
If it takes you closer to Allah which means you trying to built trust in Allah and do acts such that takes you closer to Allah then isn't this a blessing?
"How beautiful is the suffering that takes you closer to Allah"
      Imagine
      It's you and shaytan
You willing to get close to Allah and he is disturbing
Are you going to let him win?
"The greatest Jihad is to battle your own soul, to fight the evil within yourself."

Barakallahu feekum for bringing up that topic. For the people, who don't understand OCD, I can tell u, that this disease and whisperings are the worst thing that happend in my life and I cant imagine, that there could be sth more severe to suffer from. I'm pretty sure, if suicide would't be a ticket to hellfire, I would have killed myself a long time ago. Right now, though I follow every ruling in salah and tahara to the minisculest detail, I have never in my life felt so far away from my creator spiritually. I'm a medical student and in theory I know the rulings to this disease, but it's still a fight for me everyday to implement those rules in my life (e.g. certainty cannot be nullified by doubt). But I still dont lose hope and I learned a lot of wisdoms from this disease and I know Allahs has a plan. And some day I will look back and in sha Allah can understand why Allah wanted me to go through all this.

Advice from someone who experienced this till now probably 2 years
I was weaker than i thought during this period Shaitan did a big damage but I'm gonna say something really important my issue that i was ignorant of the deen from the beginning
So seek knowledge it's really important learn about fiqh
      Learn about aqidah
      Learn more about allah
I'm gonna tell you something really important consider it an advice from the future in order not to make you fall deeper and deeper the deeper you follow it the harder (not impossible) you'll find a way back that's my opinion
      So 6 months is enough
      Say this to yourself
      where I'm going
Where Shaitan want to tale me
      Hell
So say to yourself i have to say no or I'm gonna loose everything
For me i probably felt better with medical treatment
But it was honestly like a drug it just tries to cease the symptoms of the illness but not cure I've stopped it because it didn't fit me and honestly i think it doesn't cure the source of the illness but i don't tell you don't go to a psychiatrist of course you have to try it obligatory since you're in the beginning but you should always ask of the secondary effects of the treatment
What i can highly recommend you is to read surat baqarah or listen to it also do the adkhar and dua
      May Allah guide us all

Starting from a couple months ago I started to suffer from fear-caused anxiety in religion topics. I sought the cure in almost everything; worships, dua, work, environment, fulfilling the spare time etc. And I think there are two important things who suffer from this illness should know; the cause of this anxiety is different from what triggers it. Let's say you have fear and bad thoughts about Allah due to wrong teaching you had in your childhood. Those thoughts are always there but you may not realize them at all. Until a little moment your brain pull them out to your consciousness. This might happen because of something you watched, something you heard, or even because you have so much free time you don't fulfill (therefore your brain started thinking about old thoughts). For me, it was "to be despised" in my childhood and that led to inferiority complex in my life. And like I said earlier, a little moment caused my brain to think that "my worships will never be accepted and I'm not worthy to Jannah". As a muslim knows and believes that death can come any time, I started to believe that I have no time in this Dunya and will die and will be punished right away. You should first know the cause first (not the trigger) and fix it (like if you have a distorted image of God). And then you should avoid your brain from pulling that thoughts up to your consciousness, with fulfilling spare time, making good friends, going on a brain-friendly diet (like @mari gold said) etc. I hope this writing can be beneficial to someone who suffers from this illness. Assalamu Alaykum.

Do you mean like islamic creed with religion topics? I cant even read Quran anymore because of these thoughts. With every verse I read, blasphemous thoughts and doubts arise in my head making it impossible for me to read Quran. I watched almost every quranic miracle video on TH-cam trying to reassure me and my certainty. I don’t do it anymore because I feel like it doesn’t even give me that temporary reassurance, I’ve done it too much. How can I recover??? I pray and cry to Allah to help me but as soon as I have a heartfelt moment with my Creator the thoughts and more doubts start in my mind. I feel so lost and I am scared 😢😢 sometimes I question my certainty and even If this is not OCD but real doubts?? Just the thought of doubts makes me anxious. ya Allah help me and heal me and let my die as a true believer 😞

I don’t know what to say. This is a problem that I have been struggling with over 15 years. I try explaining it to people but it seems that they never fully understand. Sister najwa explained the problem so well and gave some great advice for us. I hope to implement those strategies insha Allah. I wish i had found this years ago. I am taking medication for OCD and anxiety and it helps to a certain extent. The problem is still present and every time I pray or do dhikr or make dua I still struggle. I still have to talk myself down. But insha Allah I hope to apply these methods and by the grace of God I hope to find ease and peace in my prayers again.

Al Salamu 'alaykom wa rahmatu Allah wa barakatuh , try to treat it like a routine and stop thinking about the burden that it gives you .
If it does come from shaytan ( maybe to make you think that islam is bad or hard ) then swallow it and tell yourself that this is normal just like other habits of your needs ( such as eating if you feel hungry or going to the toilet to defecate when you feel that urge ..etc ) and that may scare him ...
Also if you can ,try to do it slowly and put focus , maybe if you do it slowly you'll remember it better .
I dont know about you but Alhamduliالله I don't feel overwhelmingly exhausted and angry if I get hungry and start thinking that i have to eat _AGAIN_ !!!
If your feelings stay the same after seeking refuge in Allah from shaytan : then take it easy on you . And remember "لا يكلف الله نفساً إلا وسعها "
Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala doesn't charge a soul with what it is incapable of .
And know that it's between you and Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala, so don't let people's opinion make you think that you are excessively dumb .
Let ( us ) remain patient ,because Alhamduliالله they didn't have to go thru that hardship ,thus they probably don't understand us .
Subhanaka Allahuma wa bihamdika ash-hadu anla ilaha illa anta astaghfiruka wa atubu ilayk

Seek professional help as well - see a therapist or psychologist that specialises in OCD. Dua and Quran can help, but it must be paired with medical treatment, the same way we'd seek medical treatment for a disease of the body. May Allah make it easy for you

I think 'ignore' needs to be combined with other techniques she mentioned, so to ignore maybe say "audhoo billah..." spit 3 times over the left shoulder then ignore. Recite some salawaat and dhikrullah, move to a different space, do some physical exercise, fasting, journalling and putting it in a jar...swimming and archery are excellent Sunnah sports that have healing elements. Shaytan can't follow you in water, archery increases inner peace.

Human being is incomprehensible phenomenon, I am Psychotherapist and mostly see OCD patients. Waswasa could be from Shaitan, Hamzad, Nafs, Habitual thoughts, Sihr (Magic).. Its very difficult to ascertain what a muslim patient is going through as mostly symptoms overlaps.. I see patients afflicted from sihr and than its converted to OCD. For Muslims OCD clients, I often recommend daily 500 times reciting Lahaul Tasbeeh along with therapeutic interventions..

I developed OCD after after a trauma..it was awful. It effected every part of my life and I had a beautiful life. I was told
Waswasas but I did research into
    Trauma and how mind proces
Emotions especially in childhood traumas which changes the pathways to brain. Later in life it can triggered by some sort of pain and stress in my case it was child birth.
But once I understood what triggered my ocd I was able to find ways to live with it and find healing . I think Satan being a coward that is kick people when they are mentally not well but that's not the whole story. It's comes from deep FEAR because in Islam, fear based teaching mainly used as as a tool rather than HOPE to teach faith. Also in Islamic culture hidden abuse emotional mental physical are not acknowledged. The lady didnt mention Ocd is about control and fear which leads to anxiety . A diet in oily fish and other brain friendly food would help. Religious based ocd the doubt seeds was put in those people when those people were young. Like you did wudu, when the young person "your wudu not good enough." Your prayer might not be acceptable because" you are not good enough. " at some point someone made them feel whatever they do is not good enough. The Muslims don't need go imam, their fear based teaching is what brain remembered from long ago the doubts . I gave up prayer for almost two years but I continued to ask Allah for healing then slowly I returned to prayer . Now sometime after wodu prayer doubt comes, Allah knows my intentions. And anyway don't we rely on Allah mercy for everything including hope of paradise.I wish everyone blessings and healing. Salam.

@@Kevintheminiion Salam, OCD has deep buried roots in trauma. It often manifests as FEAR related ocd first of all know that you will recover, ocd is when brain over processing memories storage by over thinking. Allah looks to the intention of the heart, in Islam there's dry ablution, in some circumstances pray without shower,
In I gave up prayer for a while until I fully recovered. Which was about two years, still I sat on prayer asked Allah to grant me healing. Read Quran on mobile phone. No one human beings can pray perfectly do anything but we rely on Allahs love and mercy. Even if I have doubt I say to myself, I rely on Allah's love and mercy and that Allah is forgiving mercyful. Trust Allah and have little patience. Allah will guide you healing. Don't listen Some cheap imams who try to put doubt about your dua, prayer not being accepted, they are getting not paid if they don't make you feel bad. They play with people deep emotional state. Turn to with hope love respect not fear. I will do dua for you. Inshallah you will receive healing.

      Then just stop
Do rather less than twice so you don't repeat
I suggest you to watch videos how to become certain
      As certainty kills doubts
And the reason you repeat actions is due to doubts
      What you need is certainty
I'd advise you to also look for ocd by Ali Hammuda
It helped me a lot to understand from his lecture what ocd is and how to overcome it
Which I managed to do so
And all you need is Knowledge
Like learn how to stop repeat wudu
      Or overcome compulsive thoughts
So look at which specific actions you're repeating and take notes then act open it
In generally I have 2 news
The bad one is If you don't try to change anything abt it it will get worse or remain
As mentioned "if you don't try" which means you don't need to look for the end results bc that's not how it works , rather just try step by step
And the good news is you'll be cured if you ask for Allah help
      For me I needed both
Just doing my step couldn't have worked nor should we just sit there do nothing and wait for Allah help
Bc Allah says in Qur'an 13:11
"Allāh will not change the condition of a people until they change what is in themselves"
      So we need both
To Overcome ocd is really not easy if we make it difficult for overself
And sometimes trying to cure oneself from this disease alone is really hard , it's needs discipline
So if you want a specific help of mine let me know , this message is just like a headline
But in order to be able to help you , I need you to speak with me more abt this issue
Not only so I can understand it better so we work on it , but this way will help you to realize your prespective might be different from what you have on your mind, simply bc the thoughts you get that makes you doubt are from shaitan also your whispers
The more you listen to it , the more he plays with you for example he makes you think wait did I do wudu properly? Then you think and wonder if you did, so then you repeat
But if you make yourself a plan were you for example take a bottle and fill with water then only use that for wudu then you'll know you don't need to repeat your wudu since the bottle is empty now
And feel free to open up

I also think that this case is actually the sign that we're struggling toward riya' which drives ppl to be passive aggresive in order to defense themself from the thing that pushes them into perfectionism. So then i think considering the riya' thought itself as the whisepering from syaitan would help, so we could just laugh at ourself as the the winning of straghtening up our intention of the deeds

***OCD IS CURABLE WITHOUT THERAPY AND MEDS***
I suffered from OCD for over 9 months and had the most taunting thoughts but I have been healed.
I will provide a STEP BY STEP process to overcome but YOU MUST TAKE ACTION and really perform these acts or you will find yourself dealing with OCD for a very long time.
I PROMISE YOU IF YOU DO THESE 4 ACTS YOU WILL BEGIN TO HEAL WITHIN DAYS!!!!!!!!!
      1. WHENEVER an evil/ tormenting thought comes to mind RECITE "SURAH AN-NAS" Surah 114 OUT LOUD, verbally reciting the Quran combats whatever negative thought is going on in your mind. You can THINK 1 million thoughts at once but only SPEAK ONE thing at a time.
EVERY SINGLE TIME an unwanted thought comes to mind RECITE SURAH 113 & 114. It will be mentally exhausting at first because you will realize how often you have negative thoughts but don't be discouraged by this, you will begin to realize the thoughts will lessen WITHIN DAYS. This is also scientifically proven and it is called NEUROPLASTICITY where you are training and rewiring your brain to create new neurons. If you recite the HEALING VERSES of Allah it WILL transform your mind, these are called protection surahs for a reason, they protect you from evil and that is a promise from Allah.
      2. Read Quran every single day... in the morning and at night, I CANNOT STRESS THIS ENOUGH. THE HOLY QURAN IS NOT CALLED "AL-SHIFA" FOR NO REASON (meaning the book of HEALING). IT IS A HEALING!!!!!!!!! THE WORDS WILL HEAL YOUR MIND, that is a promise from Allah.
      3. PRAYER, STAY IN COMMUNICATION WITH ALLAH. NOT ONLY DURING SALAT BUT THROUGHOUT THE DAY. JUST TALK TO ALLAH OUT LOUD AND THIS WILL ALLOW YOU TO STOP THINKING NEGATIVELY. When you talk to Allah throughout the day he will put your mind, heart and soul at ease. That is a promise from Allah.
      4. STAY CONSISTENT WITH THE 3 STEPS I'VE PROVIDED ABOVE. I CANNOT STRESS THIS ENOUGH. IF YOU DO THESE AND STAY CONSISTENT EVERY SINGLE DAY AND NEVER MISS NOT ONE DAY... WALLAHI, YOU WILL BEGIN TO FEEL BETTER IN A MATTER OF DAYS..
I DEALT WITH OCD FOR 9 MONTHS. I HAVE BEEN DOING THIS FOR 2 WEEKS AND I AM HEALING WALLAHI !!!!!!!!!!!!!! WITH THE HELP OF ALLAH HE IS CURING THIS MENTAL DISEASES THAT THEY SAY HAS NO CURE!!!!!!!!!
OTHER TIPS DURING YOUR HEALING STAGE: Stay off social media so you can focus, try to replace listening to music, TV shows and being on your phone aimlessly to talking to Allah or reading Quran & stop researching your symptons (it will only scare you).
May Allah guide you on this healing journey.

I have really really bad thoughts about Allah swt. I hate it . The sister said its from the nafs , does that mean its coming from me

    • @Aafiaa04
      @Aafiaa04 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

Nope it dosen't has to mean it comes from nafs
the fact you hate those thoughts is a sign of Iman and Iman comes from the heart
So those thoughts are from shaitan
Seek always refuge with Allah from shaitan and ignore the thoughts as much as you can
But if you tell yourself in your mind No and try say smth positive abt Allah right back after you got a whisper (bad thought abt Allah)
Then you just argued with shaitan which will make him to whisper the even more
So ignore and it shall leave you by Allah's permission in sha Allah

I experienced same but not this long-term
It's gone for me I might struggle now with smth else but that's not the point what I'd like you to know is that for me was supplication and sincere Tawakkul that healed me
This issue which is called wis was , it has teached me a lot
Shaitan comes and whispers to the righteous person since he couldn't make us do certain actions so what was left were whispers
The thing that helped me to 'chill' some out was to know that we're not going to get punished for it
      Sahih al-Bukhari 6664
      Narrated Abu Hurairah:
The Prophet said, "Allah forgives my followers those (evil deeds) their souls may whisper or suggest to them as long as they do not act (on it) or speak."
The fact you hate those thoughts is also a sign of Iman
No matter how bad it gets stuck to the closeness to Allah bc that is everything

Jesus, the Son of God, says ":" I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father but through Me. ”He is the Prince of Peace.
Jesus came to destroy the works of Satan. By His death on the cross, Jesus, the Son of God, has robbed Satan of his power. The Resurrection of Jesus crowned the victory over satan

      Peace
Jesus is a messenger of Allah
Jesus and Adam are the same, Allah says Be and it is
It is not befitting for Allah to have a son
Mary is not the mother of God's son - that's blasphemy
