CJ's betrayal of Salvatore Leone actually starts a 3 game arc for the character where he begins to implicitly distrust his men. With San Andreas he trusts CJ with very little reservation and then regrets it. With Liberty City Stories he doesn't trust Toni immediately until you do several missions for him (and even then he's extremely paranoid). With GTA3 as soon as Maria let it slip to Salvatore that she and Claude were an "item" he wants Claude killed due to his paranoia.
One detail that most players don't notice with Mad Dogg and OG Loc. When the player unlocks the store Victim you can find Mad Dogg and OG Loc t-shirts. With OG Loc's t-shirt being more expensive than Mad Dogg's. After the player completes the mission where you regain Mad Dogg's rhyme book the t-shirts reverse in value.
Apparently.. I've been playing this game far too long. 🤣 There's OG Loc references all through the game. The radio DJ's mention him on multiple stations, He does a full interview on WCTR, he does a drop on Radio Los Santos, The girlfriend Katie mentions him and there are billboards for his clothing.... Like I said, I've been playing this game far too long, but I must say that I never noticed the price drop in his clothing. That one is new to me.
From what I understand, most people find Wrong Side of the Tracks hard because they get too close to the train, making Big Smoke miss most of his shots since the train is in the way.
@@ihavenothoughts Yeah, it's not a hard mission, it's just that under the correct circumstances, Smoke would simply not shoot the damn guys on the train. I think the issue is more common on PC. Now, speaking about hard missions: the one where you have to steal a Cessna and fly it to a private jet one... That was can go f--- itself.
That’s the thing though, the difficulty of the mission depends on how you decide to play it. The path for the mission gives multiple opportunities to get on top of the train and just drive-by them. Which makes it one of the easiest missions 😂
I drove too close when I played the first time (and I was 19) and that's why I failed several times. But I always thought Just Business was harder, and Air Raid to this day is still impossible to me on PS2, without the code to slow down time anyway. On PC it's easy
The difficulty level of this game was 10 fold as a child, beating this game took literal months. I’ve spent more hours immersed in this game than any other
I would imagine the reason it being harder was that the games back then were smaller and the story was shorter so to get more playtime, the devs made some missions more challenging to artificially extend the playtime, it was definitely a common trend during that time

It was hard to play on ps2 controller in my opinion but when I got my hands on the Xbox port the game wasn’t so hard. The psp gta games are the hardest games to play due to the controls

The TH-cam algorithm must be able to read minds or something because I discovered your channel quite literally earlier today and proceeded to binge every video on it. The timing is so good it's almost unbelieveable.
The biggest issues with Wrong Side of the Tracks are: 1. People drive way too close to the train so Smoke can't shoot them properly. They don't realize you need to have a better angle. 2. When you fail, you have to drive all the way back from the countryside 3. If you don't kill them all, or at least all but one, before the tunnel, it's nearly impossible to pass the mission because the train is scripted to drive too fast to catch up to it in most of the countryside portion.
Point number 1 is the biggest offender. I don't blame people for not getting it because every character in GTA:SA has a maximum "vertical reach" angle of about 30 degrees while on the back of a motorcycle. There's no way you would know that as a new player unless there was a tutorial to tell you as much.
As a San Andreas fanboy, playing it on PS2 was a solid choice. It's widely considered the best way to play SA but I've spent a lot of my time on the PC version due to one reason: Mods, babyyyyy. You can use mods to turn the PC version into PS2 along with a whole lot of other cool stuff without blowing out your performance. Of course, that requires a lot of time investment and some people just wanna pick up a game and play it without futzing around with other bullshit which is totally valid. But being able to tune and tweak the PC version into my own little personal Definitive Edition elevated this game into absolutely legendary to me. That isn't to even talk about the millions of total conversion mods, Multi Theft Auto etc. You truly get your money's worth with San Andreas on PC.

While I agree that the San Andreas soundtrack is not as strong as Vice City's, I like how every area and city have their own respective radio stations, that match the theme and mood of each location. Driving through the country side listening to K Rose or the desert listening to K DST just adds a ton to the atmosphere.

Paramedic is much easier if you do it in Angel Pine by the mountain. It's the only small town with its own ambulance area and therefore everything is much closer. Same for Firefighter, but not taxi. Wrong Side of the Tracks is a lot worse if you 1) stay closer to the train (as in, more to the left on the track) as Smoke can't shoot them well and 2) if you haven't won by the end of the tunnel, your instinct is to follow the dirt path that goes up and down (therefore Smoke can't shoot as well) instead of staying flat on the track. Niko instead of Carl @ 16:37 I figured @ 27:00 was an office or government building, maybe something secret with underground areas. Its so far away from everything and always empty. But then again theres a community college in LV that is usually empty too. Vigilante is easiest with an attack helicopter.

You got the best version for peak San Andreas asthetics too. You see for some strange reason all the warm colours, the sunglare, the bright purple, pink and orange sunsets and just the general weather and sun effects that really give San Andreas it's great atmopshere on the PS2 are only on the PS2 version. I have no idea why this is the case but it sure does make the PS2 version feel like the best version from an asthetics point of view
Sweet disliking CJ for "Abandoning the hood" is part jealousy and part frustration over CJ abandoning him and his sister for several years. Part of it also is Sweet has a crabs in the bucket mentality with his brother. He doesn't want CJ to better himself.
Hey, I love your series! Consider playing GTA LCS and GTA VCS either on PSP or PS2. They are super underrated games that are on par with GTA 3 and GTA VC imo, and I would highly recommend Vice City fans to play Vice City Stories instead of re-playing Vice City for the 7th time. Although I hear that some versions of LCS doesn't run well on the PS2 and that the PS2 version of VCS can be a little expensive, so do your research.
from speedruns i've watched, it's better to run LCS and VCS in the PSP, PS2's version is a rushed version of the PSP version (also they dont adapt the PSP controls to PS2's)

In hindsight of these games i think i prefer VC to the others, but also VCS is more or less the definitive (haha this word is cursed now) 3d universe gta. Hopefully people find your channel and you make more videos like this. 1:01:12 with the definitive edition Vadim M made a good video summarising why it went so wrong if you've not seen it yet. The ps4 version was made by the same bad developers.
Man, i just saw the 3 GTA videos that you made and i absolutely loved them. It is weird because in Latin America, CJ it’s regarded highly culturally as Goku (yeah, that deep) and in my personal experience, i played San Andreas first at a cousin’s house and i fell in love with the series, the only thing i remembered was seeing “Grand Theft Auto” on the box art, saw GTA 3 price was down than Vice City and San Andreas and my 8 year old enjoyed Liberty City a lot. As i got in my teenage years i got into Vice City (wish of course it influenced me in my musical taste, both VC and VCS) and San Andreas. I played these two in a similar time period. San Andreas to me it stills amazes me how much content there is and ALSO how much Beta/Cut content exists regarding of this game lol. This was probably your best video, almost toping with your Mafia 3 video. I would be waiting for the next video.
honestly the reason wrong side of the tracks is so infamous is because its so early in the game, meaning that the kids who took a day to get past it (me lol) can declare its the hardest mission ever.
The bike mission with og loc where you had to shoot that one guy from prison that said og loc had dropped the soap😂 , that mission was much more difficult for me as a child. I also played SA on a super laggy laptop back then , the mission was nearly impossible the frame rates were dropping way too much. Also the racing missions where you meet woozie were very frustrating. The mission where toreno is kidnapped on the airport and you have to figure out where he is i was stuck there for over a week until one of my friends came to my house and used a car fly cheat to get there lol
This is well-timed for me. Back in 2008, my brother gave me a modded XBox pre-loaded with all three GTA 3D era games, as well as a whole bunch of other ones. By far, the game I've played the most is San Andreas. But around 2009 or 2010, I got stuck on Flying School (circle the airfield and land). So, for nearly 15 years, the bulk of my playing has been taking down police helicopters in creative ways in San Fierro (usually from Katie's house, since I could respawn with weapons), or replaying older missions. I found a bug where if I stood on a downed helicopter and had it overlap with other helicopters, they'd stick around after I respawned. I'd try to collect as many helicopters overlapping each other as possible. Anyway, about a month ago, I finally decided to give Flying School another crack and passed it, which meant I could start the Las Venturas missions and the rest of the Toreno Missions. I'm on "Cop Wheels" on the Heist Strand and "A Home in the Hills" in the Four Dragons Strand, so I feel like I'm progressing a lot toward the home stretch. I never found "Wrong Side of the Tracks" as hard as most people do, but obviously "Learning to Fly" was hell. I haven't even gotten past Zero's "Air Raid" mission, so if I can't do that one, I suppose I'm not looking forward to "Supply Lines." Mostly, in the past month, I'll hit a wall, look up some walkthroughs to see if there's something I'm not doing, then eventually surprise myself when I kind of luck into passing it. I'm annoyed that thrown explosives that missions force you to use, gets rid of the ammo of the OTHER thrown explosive you have. The same thing happens with the Desert Eagle, which is incredibly frustrating, because I actually went through the trouble of spending like three days doing nothing but waiting at the trailer park near the Lil' Probe Inn for the Desert Eagle to respawn in order to get above 9999 (resaving it each time, so I didn't have to wait the full six minutes, and could just jump ahead). This is how I discovered that gym glitch you talked about and searched for the workaround. I ended up losing all the Desert Eagle ammo on "Black Project" because I ended up picking up a silenced pistol. Still haven't used any cheats, which is good, because of the notorious glitch for the "Madd Dogg" mission, which was easy to beat. Some stuff, I'll probably save for after "End of the Line."
Lmao I went through a similar experience playing Ballad of Gay Tony, That mission where you had to destroy a yacht using a Buzzard then go after three tiny Jet Skis and take them down too I spent like a month trying to beat that mission and it felt literally impossible, So I just gave up and started playing casually doing the side stuff and all Then a full year later I decided to face my fears and replay the mission one last time, And got it first try
Now, I'm kind of stuck on "A Home on the Hills" (I did the heist first, which was pretty easy). I can blast through the mansion just fine, but I can never even get out of the driveway for the chase fast enough to make much of a difference. I've even tried all kinds of strategies I've found in videos, like cutting through grass to skip curves in the road, using a heat seeking missile instead of getting into the car, and I even tried setting up a satchel charge before going into the mansion, so that it would be waiting for me when I got out, but it despawned by the time I was outside again to detonate it.
You can replenish your ammo by going to ammunation and going into the gun range. As soon as you enter come back out. Wash, rinse and repeat until you max out your weapon. It typically works for most guns but not all you'll have to experiment to see which weapons you can get infinite ammo with but it's a quick way to get your ammo back

GTA 4 and San Andreas are still my 2 favorite games in the franchise. SA was my favorite game in my adolescence. But that's not the main reason. I can still go back to GTA 4 and San Andreas and play the games beginning to end and have a good time. And the radio stations were great.
played this game on/off for 20 years. worst mission for me is end of the line - catching sweet, when on that road. i hated it. because others cars get in the way causing me to either fall behind, bump and spin off road, or whatever. i have 100% this game many times over the years. i've exhausted it to the point that i play the pc version whenever now - modded.

Just finished SA story mode yesterday on the Ps2 and I’m sure now that that this is still my favourite version of this game. I couldn’t enjoy the other versions even if they look technically better but they are missing the atmosphere. Great video I love it how you use actual footage of the Ps2 version.

You hit the nail on the head when it comes to 100% completing games. I never found 100% completing games fun, mainly because I have to play parts of a game I don't like playing. I've seen so many people on gaming forums basically sounding like they are forced to play these games to 100% completion and they sound miserable, like really guys? Play something else, or do something else instead of feeling like you need to 100% complete a game out of pride, because that pride is not worth it if you're not having a fun time. Gaming is supposed to be fun, not a chore.

So with the "infamously hard missions"... Wrong side of the tracks: It's easy. It's wrongly considered difficult because Smoke shoots his gun at a piss poor rate and people are generally too stupid to figure out how to align yourself so that smoke hits the target. If you don't kill the 3 or 4 guys on top of the train by a certain point you fail and he says the infamous line. Basically, people suck at games. Supply Lines: With supply lines there's a Trick to the fuel system, see you're using the gas, it's like a car in a sense where if you take your foot off the accelerator you're not consuming the petrol in the tank, but everyone holds X the entire time with it. You utilise the flying to gain altitude then cruise while slowly descending from a greater height to your target only using fuel when you have to. It's weird this mission is coded like this given nothing else in the game actually has a fuel system, but, when you think about it logically, it makes sense. You can actually have like 3/4ths of the tank left by the end by doing this, even casually, no speedrunner knowledge required. Learning to fly: This game sold like an absurd amount of copies and most people are bad at games and used cheats to even get this far and 80% of people never left Los Santos... That's about it. People suck at games.
in the original ps2 release, the plane in "suppy lines" always used up fuel, no matter if you're gliding or not. this may be why people find the mission so difficult. i don't see how flying the plane is hard, but then again, i play the pc version and flying on a controller may be a pain for all i know agree with the other 2 though. flight school is not hard, neither is wrong side of the tracks.
@@dontwasteyourtimehere_I've not played the PS2 version in probably close to 15 years so maybe you're right on the fuel consumption being constant on ps2, it's definitely not like that on pc or later builds, but it would explain a lot if it's the case. Even then, the mission isn't that difficult... Should have more than enough fuel unless the cosumption rate is also higher.
@@Monokai The original black label PS2 version has the fuel that constantly depletes no matter if you glide or not. I played it recently and it is pretty challenging, the controls are not easy to get down.
And remember, playing on PS2 is the most valuable thing we have, it will never change, it will never be removed from the Steam store, the new Windows 13 will not interfere by creating bugs, Consoles are ideal monuments that are the only ones that will survive all Windows updates, which will lose compatibility within the next 10 years. 🐧
Ken Rosenburg's backstory between Vice City and San Andreas is better explained in The Introduction, which was an extended prequel cutscene Rockstar made for San Andreas that explains much of its backstory. (Like why Salvatore Leone got involved in Las Venturas to begin with). With Ken Rosenburg one thing that's made clear in Vice City is he has a major cocaine problem and the Introduction shows him at a rehab facility where Tommy's real estate company refuses to take his calls. (This was also not Ray Liotta doing the voce as after Vice City released he had a massive falling out with Rockstar and refused to reprise the character afterwards. The same occurred with CJ's VA Young Maylay.)
@ihavenothoughts if you bought the Grand Theft Auto San Andreas Special Edition (exclusive to PlayStation 2) it gives you better backstory on why Ken and Timmy had a falling out. According to Ken in the introduction he states he fell out with tommy because of his drug addiction and Tommy paid for Ken to clean in San Andreas.
The old and blurry PS2 graphics makes the game look kinda realistic looking for its time,i remember playing it as a kid and freaking out how cool and real the game is, it was so fun
I wrote this comment before but, at least on my end, it seemed to disappear after I edited it so hopefully I'm not saying the same weirdly long thing twice. I don't and do get the hype with Wrong Side of the Tracks. Like, it gave me PTSD when I first played it - but so did Just Business. But I think that was just the learning curve for adapting to the new game and engine combined with me being 10 or 11. Wrong Side was never an issue for me again when I replayed it later, even when I was still only 11. I think this is supported by the fact that A LOT of missions became way less troublesome gradually. I'm amazed at my ability to weave in and out of traffic (somewhat), especially on a bike, when I think about how much I'd crash while playing as a kid. And I think that translates to missions too. I remember City Slicking in driving school took me soooo many attempts to just pass. When I played the definitive edition, I think I swerved out of control on a brake first attempt. Then got a very high silver second attempt, then got gold third attempt. Nowadays, it's unexpected to fail a mission unless, like, I roll over (fuck you Photo Opportunity) or I forget where the random OP NPC with a spas shotgun is and I get downed from full health and armour in like 1.5 seconds, or I deliberately do something dumb like drive off of Mount Chilliad at full speed with the sanchez despite knowing not to from previous experience. Or because I'm playing the definitive edition where the NPC shooting accuracy isn't nerfed enough and they spray me to death with pistols from three blocks away ffs. Anyway, the point is that I wonder how many people still rage about this mission but have never tried it again. Enough experience playing on and off over the years has given me the ability (lack of skill issue) to know when and when not to drive like a madman, or run in guns blazing, etc. And with that, Wrong Side is just like any other mission. On another note, I also am in the unpopular Vice City > San Andreas pool. I think I saw another youtuber summarise it best. Like san andreas throws tremendous amount of shit at the wall and sees what sticks. And it's so ridiculous how much does stick. But for me, Vice City threw less but nailed a higher percentage of it. For me it was just a more "fun to play" game overall, edging out San Andreas in the quality over quantity department. Plus chopping people's heads off was less fun in San Andreas, which is a weird thing to say out loud. And I'm still mad at how easily tanks can catch on fire in San Andreas and that you can't keep the turret turned backwards while looking forward for the speed boost. And I remember genuinely mentioning the escalator thing when I was a kid arguing with friends. Don't get me wrong, I love my San Andreas but Vice City for me was where it's at. In summary: - Let's all just enjoy and bond over all the GTAs, even IV, yaay. - And also, fuck Photo Opportunity. - And N.O.E. - And any fucking rustler that flies into a building next to me
Goes to show how implementing a game's features more thoroughly, and not just dumping them after one use, could really have helped this game reach near-perfection. Why weren't there more uses of the "Trip Skip" feature? It is first seen in the rhyme book mission, and I had to check, because I wasn't even sure if it was used anywhere else, though I guess that means I didn't struggle much in the other ones.. 16. There's 16 missions in total with the feature... GTA San Andreas has 100 missions. "555 WE TIP" is an example. Developing this mission around the Trip Skip could have helped a bit at least. Changing missions around to give an extra challenge on the initial drive, and making it a bit longer too, but then making it skip-able afterwards, would have worked wonders. Even having one extra "Trip Skip" feature could have vastly improved it, basically already making it a checkpoint system. In this case, getting to your garage could have been the second checkpoint. And keep in mind I'm considering here the limitations, and that they already had this "Skip" feature in there, so something could have been done. Makes one wonder if it was a late addition. Also, it was still just 2 years between this and the previous game. ...also... 1:04:15 ...missed a chance to add the "cheat activated" sound effect there.
...also, also... 1:06:00 ...now I want to see a mod that adds some slight changes to San Andreas, with tweaks to the coloring, and which adds a few side-activities and details which make each city in the game feel like a different 3D era GTA. * Los Santos is still this orange tinted 90's hood movie, maybe add some extra requirements to proceed the story, a few new side-activities, or completing a bit of the existing ones. * But then make it more serious in San Fierro, make the sunny atmosphere less orange, tweak things like, removing the nitro in that car dealership theft mission, but keep the Yay leaving Los Santos, it's annoying but for a reason.. more on that later¹ * And Las Venturas, make it like Vice City. Add some more fun and outrageous side-activities, add a yacht somewhere, and take you there in one of the side-activities. It kinda already had a bit of a difference in tone there. One thing I though to add was ret-conning Ryder betraying us, as that happened due to a dispute between the voice actor (MC Eiht) and Rockstar. Maybe we could do what they did (*poorly* recycle one line from him) and have him die helping us in the shoot-out on the Green Sabre mission. He doesn't appear much after that, so maybe we could mod around it, with some comments made by the rest of the gang (also made with *poorly* recycled lines). ¹The Yay thing was annoying, but what if there was a big payout? After you finish the game, a new side activity could unlock, which has you dismantle more of the operation still left behind by them, where finishing it nets you a high payout, but makes the free roam missions disappear. On the long run, you could make a good stable income from the runs, but it would take some time to beat doing the final activity to end the scheme.
44:06 It "may" be that the version you have is a later revision that has some mission fixes in it (though I have no idea if this is one of the missions that were 'fixed' in an update, I know Supply Lines was though). But the real reason is that if you don't do enough damage before you get out of (or into) the train tunnel, you won't be able to complete it. If you get too close to the train, Smoke won't be hitting them, and while you're in the tunnel most people don't stay far enough against the wall to be able to hit them. And once you get far out of the tunnel, you just can't get to a good location to be hitting them anymore. Either way though, I always found "Just Business" to be much harder.

I don't know why but wrong side of the tracks was hard asl as a child lmao, all I can remember was big smoke not killing them in time, but when I revisited it when I was like 17 it wasn't that hard so I think it was an age & nostalgia thing when it comes to it getting that reputation.
43:49 I also found wrong side of the tracks to be much easier than its reputation would suggest in my play throughs of the game. However, I am familiar enough with San Andreas and the discourse surrounding it to know that the primary reason this mission was considered so hard is that Big Smoke’s aim can be pretty unreliable. Playing through the game recently, it took me a few tries because Smoke wasn’t damaging the two enemies at the very front of the train enough. If you focus and position the bike next to the train just right it isn’t particularly hard, but I definitely get why it trips people up.

The thing about Wrong Side of the Tracks is that people did not figure out you have to drive like 2 feet next to the tracks where Smoke can actually shoot the Vagos (when they actually get damaged). Any Catalina mission is way harder
Wrong side of the tracks used to be hard for me but it was because i did it wrong. Smoke shoots at a set angle, he doesn’t aim at all so the trick to the mission is to position your bike along the train tracks at the right distance for smokes bullets to hit them. Seriously this mission can be almost trivial if you get the distance right.
47:57 when I played this game on PS2 originally, it had the reputation for being the worst mission ever but back when I was 12 years old I beat it in like two tries. so I agree with you, I don’t really know why people gave the mission “Wrong side of the Tracks” a reputation for being the hardest mission ever. I never thought it was that hard.
The reason the Bellagio doesn't appear in San Andreas is because the resort opened in 1998, but San Andreas takes place in 1992. I'm just glad that one of my favorite Las Vegas resorts The Mirage (1989-2024) was immortalized in San Andreas as The Visage.
CJ's betrayal of Salvatore Leone actually starts a 3 game arc for the character where he begins to implicitly distrust his men. With San Andreas he trusts CJ with very little reservation and then regrets it. With Liberty City Stories he doesn't trust Toni immediately until you do several missions for him (and even then he's extremely paranoid). With GTA3 as soon as Maria let it slip to Salvatore that she and Claude were an "item" he wants Claude killed due to his paranoia.
One detail that most players don't notice with Mad Dogg and OG Loc. When the player unlocks the store Victim you can find Mad Dogg and OG Loc t-shirts. With OG Loc's t-shirt being more expensive than Mad Dogg's. After the player completes the mission where you regain Mad Dogg's rhyme book the t-shirts reverse in value.
Apparently.. I've been playing this game far too long. 🤣 There's OG Loc references all through the game. The radio DJ's mention him on multiple stations, He does a full interview on WCTR, he does a drop on Radio Los Santos, The girlfriend Katie mentions him and there are billboards for his clothing.... Like I said, I've been playing this game far too long, but I must say that I never noticed the price drop in his clothing. That one is new to me.
From what I understand, most people find Wrong Side of the Tracks hard because they get too close to the train, making Big Smoke miss most of his shots since the train is in the way.
That makes sense, I did see some people saying that, just crazy how it seems like the majority of people have a really hard time with it
@@ihavenothoughts Yeah, it's not a hard mission, it's just that under the correct circumstances, Smoke would simply not shoot the damn guys on the train. I think the issue is more common on PC.

That’s the thing though, the difficulty of the mission depends on how you decide to play it.
The path for the mission gives multiple opportunities to get on top of the train and just drive-by them. Which makes it one of the easiest missions 😂

I drove too close when I played the first time (and I was 19) and that's why I failed several times. But I always thought Just Business was harder, and Air Raid to this day is still impossible to me on PS2, without the code to slow down time anyway. On PC it's easy
The difficulty level of this game was 10 fold as a child, beating this game took literal months. I’ve spent more hours immersed in this game than any other
I would imagine the reason it being harder was that the games back then were smaller and the story was shorter so to get more playtime, the devs made some missions more challenging to artificially extend the playtime, it was definitely a common trend during that time

The biggest issues with Wrong Side of the Tracks are:
1. People drive way too close to the train so Smoke can't shoot them properly. They don't realize you need to have a better angle.
2. When you fail, you have to drive all the way back from the countryside
3. If you don't kill them all, or at least all but one, before the tunnel, it's nearly impossible to pass the mission because the train is scripted to drive too fast to catch up to it in most of the countryside portion.
Point number 1 is the biggest offender. I don't blame people for not getting it because every character in GTA:SA has a maximum "vertical reach" angle of about 30 degrees while on the back of a motorcycle. There's no way you would know that as a new player unless there was a tutorial to tell you as much.
The one from manhunt is harder
As a San Andreas fanboy, playing it on PS2 was a solid choice. It's widely considered the best way to play SA but I've spent a lot of my time on the PC version due to one reason: Mods, babyyyyy.
You can use mods to turn the PC version into PS2 along with a whole lot of other cool stuff without blowing out your performance. Of course, that requires a lot of time investment and some people just wanna pick up a game and play it without futzing around with other bullshit which is totally valid.
But being able to tune and tweak the PC version into my own little personal Definitive Edition elevated this game into absolutely legendary to me.
That isn't to even talk about the millions of total conversion mods, Multi Theft Auto etc. You truly get your money's worth with San Andreas on PC.

While I agree that the San Andreas soundtrack is not as strong as Vice City's, I like how every area and city have their own respective radio stations, that match the theme and mood of each location.
Driving through the country side listening to K Rose or the desert listening to K DST just adds a ton to the atmosphere.

Paramedic is much easier if you do it in Angel Pine by the mountain. It's the only small town with its own ambulance area and therefore everything is much closer. Same for Firefighter, but not taxi.
Wrong Side of the Tracks is a lot worse if you 1) stay closer to the train (as in, more to the left on the track) as Smoke can't shoot them well and 2) if you haven't won by the end of the tunnel, your instinct is to follow the dirt path that goes up and down (therefore Smoke can't shoot as well) instead of staying flat on the track.

You got the best version for peak San Andreas asthetics too. You see for some strange reason all the warm colours, the sunglare, the bright purple, pink and orange sunsets and just the general weather and sun effects that really give San Andreas it's great atmopshere on the PS2 are only on the PS2 version. I have no idea why this is the case but it sure does make the PS2 version feel like the best version from an asthetics point of view

Hey, I love your series! Consider playing GTA LCS and GTA VCS either on PSP or PS2. They are super underrated games that are on par with GTA 3 and GTA VC imo, and I would highly recommend Vice City fans to play Vice City Stories instead of re-playing Vice City for the 7th time. Although I hear that some versions of LCS doesn't run well on the PS2 and that the PS2 version of VCS can be a little expensive, so do your research.
I would even argue that they improve on the originals in many ways, especially LCS
from speedruns i've watched, it's better to run LCS and VCS in the PSP, PS2's version is a rushed version of the PSP version (also they dont adapt the PSP controls to PS2's)

Man, i just saw the 3 GTA videos that you made and i absolutely loved them. It is weird because in Latin America, CJ it’s regarded highly culturally as Goku (yeah, that deep) and in my personal experience, i played San Andreas first at a cousin’s house and i fell in love with the series, the only thing i remembered was seeing “Grand Theft Auto” on the box art, saw GTA 3 price was down than Vice City and San Andreas and my 8 year old enjoyed Liberty City a lot.
As i got in my teenage years i got into Vice City (wish of course it influenced me in my musical taste, both VC and VCS) and San Andreas. I played these two in a similar time period. San Andreas to me it stills amazes me how much content there is and ALSO how much Beta/Cut content exists regarding of this game lol.

honestly the reason wrong side of the tracks is so infamous is because its so early in the game, meaning that the kids who took a day to get past it (me lol) can declare its the hardest mission ever.
The bike mission with og loc where you had to shoot that one guy from prison that said og loc had dropped the soap😂 , that mission was much more difficult for me as a child. I also played SA on a super laggy laptop back then , the mission was nearly impossible the frame rates were dropping way too much. Also the racing missions where you meet woozie were very frustrating. The mission where toreno is kidnapped on the airport and you have to figure out where he is i was stuck there for over a week until one of my friends came to my house and used a car fly cheat to get there lol

The modded PC version can restore pretty much everything from the PS2 and is not riddled by frame drops, so that is a more than valid way to play.

This is well-timed for me.
Back in 2008, my brother gave me a modded XBox pre-loaded with all three GTA 3D era games, as well as a whole bunch of other ones. By far, the game I've played the most is San Andreas. But around 2009 or 2010, I got stuck on Flying School (circle the airfield and land).
So, for nearly 15 years, the bulk of my playing has been taking down police helicopters in creative ways in San Fierro (usually from Katie's house, since I could respawn with weapons), or replaying older missions. I found a bug where if I stood on a downed helicopter and had it overlap with other helicopters, they'd stick around after I respawned. I'd try to collect as many helicopters overlapping each other as possible.
Anyway, about a month ago, I finally decided to give Flying School another crack and passed it, which meant I could start the Las Venturas missions and the rest of the Toreno Missions. I'm on "Cop Wheels" on the Heist Strand and "A Home in the Hills" in the Four Dragons Strand, so I feel like I'm progressing a lot toward the home stretch.
I never found "Wrong Side of the Tracks" as hard as most people do, but obviously "Learning to Fly" was hell. I haven't even gotten past Zero's "Air Raid" mission, so if I can't do that one, I suppose I'm not looking forward to "Supply Lines."
Mostly, in the past month, I'll hit a wall, look up some walkthroughs to see if there's something I'm not doing, then eventually surprise myself when I kind of luck into passing it.
I'm annoyed that thrown explosives that missions force you to use, gets rid of the ammo of the OTHER thrown explosive you have. The same thing happens with the Desert Eagle, which is incredibly frustrating, because I actually went through the trouble of spending like three days doing nothing but waiting at the trailer park near the Lil' Probe Inn for the Desert Eagle to respawn in order to get above 9999 (resaving it each time, so I didn't have to wait the full six minutes, and could just jump ahead). This is how I discovered that gym glitch you talked about and searched for the workaround. I ended up losing all the Desert Eagle ammo on "Black Project" because I ended up picking up a silenced pistol.
Still haven't used any cheats, which is good, because of the notorious glitch for the "Madd Dogg" mission, which was easy to beat.
Some stuff, I'll probably save for after "End of the Line."

Lmao I went through a similar experience playing Ballad of Gay Tony, That mission where you had to destroy a yacht using a Buzzard then go after three tiny Jet Skis and take them down too
I spent like a month trying to beat that mission and it felt literally impossible, So I just gave up and started playing casually doing the side stuff and all
Then a full year later I decided to face my fears and replay the mission one last time, And got it first try
Now, I'm kind of stuck on "A Home on the Hills" (I did the heist first, which was pretty easy). I can blast through the mansion just fine, but I can never even get out of the driveway for the chase fast enough to make much of a difference. I've even tried all kinds of strategies I've found in videos, like cutting through grass to skip curves in the road, using a heat seeking missile instead of getting into the car, and I even tried setting up a satchel charge before going into the mansion, so that it would be waiting for me when I got out, but it despawned by the time I was outside again to detonate it.
You can replenish your ammo by going to ammunation and going into the gun range. As soon as you enter come back out. Wash, rinse and repeat until you max out your weapon. It typically works for most guns but not all you'll have to experiment to see which weapons you can get infinite ammo with but it's a quick way to get your ammo back

GTA 4 and San Andreas are still my 2 favorite games in the franchise. SA was my favorite game in my adolescence. But that's not the main reason. I can still go back to GTA 4 and San Andreas and play the games beginning to end and have a good time. And the radio stations were great.

worst mission for me is end of the line - catching sweet, when on that road. i hated it. because others cars get in the way causing me to either fall behind, bump and spin off road, or whatever.
i have 100% this game many times over the years.

Just finished SA story mode yesterday on the Ps2 and I’m sure now that that this is still my favourite version of this game. I couldn’t enjoy the other versions even if they look technically better but they are missing the atmosphere. Great video I love it how you use actual footage of the Ps2 version.

also choose wisely the version of GTA IV you're gonna play, the PC version requires a whole lotta modding, the PS3 framerate is not very good and playing it on modern Xbox consoles breaks the game cause of 60fps, also the final mission gets pretty much unbeatable because of it

You hit the nail on the head when it comes to 100% completing games. I never found 100% completing games fun, mainly because I have to play parts of a game I don't like playing. I've seen so many people on gaming forums basically sounding like they are forced to play these games to 100% completion and they sound miserable, like really guys? Play something else, or do something else instead of feeling like you need to 100% complete a game out of pride, because that pride is not worth it if you're not having a fun time. Gaming is supposed to be fun, not a chore.

Wrong side of the tracks:
It's easy. It's wrongly considered difficult because Smoke shoots his gun at a piss poor rate and people are generally too stupid to figure out how to align yourself so that smoke hits the target. If you don't kill the 3 or 4 guys on top of the train by a certain point you fail and he says the infamous line. Basically, people suck at games.
Supply Lines:
With supply lines there's a Trick to the fuel system, see you're using the gas, it's like a car in a sense where if you take your foot off the accelerator you're not consuming the petrol in the tank, but everyone holds X the entire time with it. You utilise the flying to gain altitude then cruise while slowly descending from a greater height to your target only using fuel when you have to. It's weird this mission is coded like this given nothing else in the game actually has a fuel system, but, when you think about it logically, it makes sense. You can actually have like 3/4ths of the tank left by the end by doing this, even casually, no speedrunner knowledge required.
Learning to fly:
This game sold like an absurd amount of copies and most people are bad at games and used cheats to even get this far and 80% of people never left Los Santos... That's about it. People suck at games.
in the original ps2 release, the plane in "suppy lines" always used up fuel, no matter if you're gliding or not. this may be why people find the mission so difficult. i don't see how flying the plane is hard, but then again, i play the pc version and flying on a controller may be a pain for all i know

Even then, the mission isn't that difficult... Should have more than enough fuel unless the cosumption rate is also higher.

I played it recently and it is pretty challenging, the controls are not easy to get down.

The atmosphere of San Andreas on Playstation 2 is beautiful and hard-core nostalgic
Ken Rosenburg's backstory between Vice City and San Andreas is better explained in The Introduction, which was an extended prequel cutscene Rockstar made for San Andreas that explains much of its backstory. (Like why Salvatore Leone got involved in Las Venturas to begin with). With Ken Rosenburg one thing that's made clear in Vice City is he has a major cocaine problem and the Introduction shows him at a rehab facility where Tommy's real estate company refuses to take his calls. (This was also not Ray Liotta doing the voce as after Vice City released he had a massive falling out with Rockstar and refused to reprise the character afterwards. The same occurred with CJ's VA Young Maylay.)
@ihavenothoughts if you bought the Grand Theft Auto San Andreas Special Edition (exclusive to PlayStation 2) it gives you better backstory on why Ken and Timmy had a falling out. According to Ken in the introduction he states he fell out with tommy because of his drug addiction and Tommy paid for Ken to clean in San Andreas.
The old and blurry PS2 graphics makes the game look kinda realistic looking for its time,i remember playing it as a kid and freaking out how cool and real the game is, it was so fun
I wrote this comment before but, at least on my end, it seemed to disappear after I edited it so hopefully I'm not saying the same weirdly long thing twice.
I don't and do get the hype with Wrong Side of the Tracks. Like, it gave me PTSD when I first played it - but so did Just Business. But I think that was just the learning curve for adapting to the new game and engine combined with me being 10 or 11.
Wrong Side was never an issue for me again when I replayed it later, even when I was still only 11.
I think this is supported by the fact that A LOT of missions became way less troublesome gradually. I'm amazed at my ability to weave in and out of traffic (somewhat), especially on a bike, when I think about how much I'd crash while playing as a kid. And I think that translates to missions too. I remember City Slicking in driving school took me soooo many attempts to just pass. When I played the definitive edition, I think I swerved out of control on a brake first attempt. Then got a very high silver second attempt, then got gold third attempt.
Nowadays, it's unexpected to fail a mission unless, like, I roll over (fuck you Photo Opportunity) or I forget where the random OP NPC with a spas shotgun is and I get downed from full health and armour in like 1.5 seconds, or I deliberately do something dumb like drive off of Mount Chilliad at full speed with the sanchez despite knowing not to from previous experience. Or because I'm playing the definitive edition where the NPC shooting accuracy isn't nerfed enough and they spray me to death with pistols from three blocks away ffs.
Anyway, the point is that I wonder how many people still rage about this mission but have never tried it again. Enough experience playing on and off over the years has given me the ability (lack of skill issue) to know when and when not to drive like a madman, or run in guns blazing, etc. And with that, Wrong Side is just like any other mission.
On another note, I also am in the unpopular Vice City > San Andreas pool. I think I saw another youtuber summarise it best. Like san andreas throws tremendous amount of shit at the wall and sees what sticks. And it's so ridiculous how much does stick. But for me, Vice City threw less but nailed a higher percentage of it. For me it was just a more "fun to play" game overall, edging out San Andreas in the quality over quantity department. Plus chopping people's heads off was less fun in San Andreas, which is a weird thing to say out loud.
And I'm still mad at how easily tanks can catch on fire in San Andreas and that you can't keep the turret turned backwards while looking forward for the speed boost. And I remember genuinely mentioning the escalator thing when I was a kid arguing with friends. Don't get me wrong, I love my San Andreas but Vice City for me was where it's at.

- And any fucking rustler that flies into a building next to me
Goes to show how implementing a game's features more thoroughly, and not just dumping them after one use, could really have helped this game reach near-perfection.
Why weren't there more uses of the "Trip Skip" feature? It is first seen in the rhyme book mission, and I had to check, because I wasn't even sure if it was used anywhere else, though I guess that means I didn't struggle much in the other ones..
16. There's 16 missions in total with the feature... GTA San Andreas has 100 missions.
"555 WE TIP" is an example. Developing this mission around the Trip Skip could have helped a bit at least. Changing missions around to give an extra challenge on the initial drive, and making it a bit longer too, but then making it skip-able afterwards, would have worked wonders. Even having one extra "Trip Skip" feature could have vastly improved it, basically already making it a checkpoint system. In this case, getting to your garage could have been the second checkpoint. And keep in mind I'm considering here the limitations, and that they already had this "Skip" feature in there, so something could have been done.
Makes one wonder if it was a late addition. Also, it was still just 2 years between this and the previous game.
...also... 1:04:15 ...missed a chance to add the "cheat activated" sound effect there.
...also, also... 1:06:00 ...now I want to see a mod that adds some slight changes to San Andreas, with tweaks to the coloring, and which adds a few side-activities and details which make each city in the game feel like a different 3D era GTA.
* Los Santos is still this orange tinted 90's hood movie, maybe add some extra requirements to proceed the story, a few new side-activities, or completing a bit of the existing ones.
* But then make it more serious in San Fierro, make the sunny atmosphere less orange, tweak things like, removing the nitro in that car dealership theft mission, but keep the Yay leaving Los Santos, it's annoying but for a reason.. more on that later¹
* And Las Venturas, make it like Vice City. Add some more fun and outrageous side-activities, add a yacht somewhere, and take you there in one of the side-activities.
It kinda already had a bit of a difference in tone there. One thing I though to add was ret-conning Ryder betraying us, as that happened due to a dispute between the voice actor (MC Eiht) and Rockstar. Maybe we could do what they did (*poorly* recycle one line from him) and have him die helping us in the shoot-out on the Green Sabre mission. He doesn't appear much after that, so maybe we could mod around it, with some comments made by the rest of the gang (also made with *poorly* recycled lines).
¹The Yay thing was annoying, but what if there was a big payout? After you finish the game, a new side activity could unlock, which has you dismantle more of the operation still left behind by them, where finishing it nets you a high payout, but makes the free roam missions disappear. On the long run, you could make a good stable income from the runs, but it would take some time to beat doing the final activity to end the scheme.
Vice City Stories is so expensive these days on ps2. I hope you can find a reasonable copy

44:06 It "may" be that the version you have is a later revision that has some mission fixes in it (though I have no idea if this is one of the missions that were 'fixed' in an update, I know Supply Lines was though). But the real reason is that if you don't do enough damage before you get out of (or into) the train tunnel, you won't be able to complete it. If you get too close to the train, Smoke won't be hitting them, and while you're in the tunnel most people don't stay far enough against the wall to be able to hit them. And once you get far out of the tunnel, you just can't get to a good location to be hitting them anymore.
Either way though, I always found "Just Business" to be much harder.

I don't know why but wrong side of the tracks was hard asl as a child lmao, all I can remember was big smoke not killing them in time, but when I revisited it when I was like 17 it wasn't that hard so I think it was an age & nostalgia thing when it comes to it getting that reputation.
43:49 I also found wrong side of the tracks to be much easier than its reputation would suggest in my play throughs of the game. However, I am familiar enough with San Andreas and the discourse surrounding it to know that the primary reason this mission was considered so hard is that Big Smoke’s aim can be pretty unreliable. Playing through the game recently, it took me a few tries because Smoke wasn’t damaging the two enemies at the very front of the train enough. If you focus and position the bike next to the train just right it isn’t particularly hard, but I definitely get why it trips people up.
I'm pretty sure a lot of people played this game with a busted controller back in the day

The thing about Wrong Side of the Tracks is that people did not figure out you have to drive like 2 feet next to the tracks where Smoke can actually shoot the Vagos (when they actually get damaged). Any Catalina mission is way harder

Wrong side of the tracks used to be hard for me but it was because i did it wrong. Smoke shoots at a set angle, he doesn’t aim at all so the trick to the mission is to position your bike along the train tracks at the right distance for smokes bullets to hit them. Seriously this mission can be almost trivial if you get the distance right.

47:57 when I played this game on PS2 originally, it had the reputation for being the worst mission ever but back when I was 12 years old I beat it in like two tries. so I agree with you, I don’t really know why people gave the mission “Wrong side of the Tracks” a reputation for being the hardest mission ever. The reason the Bellagio doesn't appear in San Andreas is because the resort opened in 1998, but San Andreas takes place in 1992. I'm just glad that one of my favorite Las Vegas resorts The Mirage (1989-2024) was immortalized in San Andreas as The Visage.
