@Frank Lectures I too have confusion. Acc. to textbook of" Veterinary Immunology-An intoduction" by Ian R. Tizard , C4b2b cleaves C3, that means it acts as C3 convertase but it is having C2b subunit.
The author of the book you referred to has not explained the nomenclature of the complement proteins. The references that I have studied to make these video lectures are: Immunology, Richard Coico Immunology, Kuby Primer to immune response, Tak W Mak NEITHER of these books has referred C3 convertase of Lectin pathway as C4b2b. Thanks.
@@ishfaqlone3689 Some sources are shifting to naming the C2 fragments similarly like the C3, C4, and C5 fragments where C2b is the larger, binding protein and C2a is the smaller protein. The field isn't totally in agreement which is why some sources will say the C3 convertase complex is C4b2a and others C4b2b. My textbook (Kuby) refers to it in the "classical" sense of C4b2a.

yes.C2b remains whilst C2a is removed.
No C4bC2a is the c3 converstase since C2 being an exception for having C2a as the larger subunit so C2b is released and C2a remains with C4b

I think it is “C4b2b” not “ C4b2a “ that acts as C3 convertase
No actually this is c2a but many books write it to b c2b also.. So there is a confusion
due to a new scheme they use for naming the bigger particles where b comes before a, the former "C4bC2a" complex is now called "C4bC2b" complex.

In the latest edition of kuby it's C4bC2a as C3 converstase
For c2 a is larger
its c2b and c4b complex
