    Update on the Carolina’s - three weeks in, and I am working these things hard. Averaging 10,000 steps a day on concrete floors...oil dropping on the leather, lots of rust, aluminum, steal, penetrating oils, brake clean. Also been walking/hiking in them on weekends. So far so good. Definitely not water proof. Water forced them and treated the leather the other day. Changed the look of the entire boot. The leather originally was very dry, not a lot of oil in it. We’ll see how it goes, but so far so good. Much better than the Brunts. Surprisingly great traction. Easy break in.

      Get some carolina logger boots! I work in a foundry and they have lasted 6 years! Not sure what kind of work you do but if it's just hiking and walking then get you some new balance or Nike shoes

    Love my CA7502 carolinas. I tried both the Carolinas and thorogood but for my wide feet I went with the carolina boots. 2 months in and they fit like a glove.

    This an awesome video! I have a pair of brunt’s right now and am still feeling them out, these Carolina’s look very sleek

      So far so good on the Carolinas. I’ve been working in them for two weeks now, really abusing them. Good luck with the Brunts, maybe they’ll be good for you!

    I have a pair of Carolina logger boots that I've been wearing for 15 years,on a regular basis. I've had the soles replaced a few years ago. They feel like a comfortable pair of old slippers..... & I forgot to mention they're steel toed too! The only thing I've done aside from the soles is brushing them with my horse hair brush and mink oiled them.

      I think at that point the Brunt’s were roughly three months old. The Carolina’s are over a year old now and they’re still holding up great.

    Carolinas are awesome boots. I have the Made In USA 8oin version of the moc toes you have, and love them. But every wedge sole I've had, wears quickly, but are ultra comfortable (I wear them for going out, not work). I also have 3 or 4 pairs of their other boots (Landscaping and tree work, lol it beats on boots) They have surprised me!!! I take care of the leather, and get a full season out of them. I will be surprised if you don't love them :) Glad you got the MI-USA (AMP) version. I haven't tried their new Made In Mexico ones yet. I did end up switching the laces (the 8inch ones were long as hell, I would wrap them around the top of the boot, and then tie them)
    Thanks for the review

      So far the soles are holding up very well, considering the use and abuse I’m giving them, but I agree.,,wedge soles don’t last long. I recently picked up a pair of Duraderos that include one free resole with every purchase. I’m going to do a follow up review on the Carolinas, because I am abusing these things like I can’t believe. And they’re doing very good. Had to sno-seal them which really changed the look of the boot, but they look even better now (IMO).

    The Carolina’s are a awesome boot for being 🇺🇸 made and under $200. I just grabbed the same ones you have for $165 at my local boot store and they are super comfortable. They were definitely a dryer leather, so I hit them with Bick 4 once a week and it keep they looking great. I’m using mine for work to and I’m not easy on them either. So far a they are holding up great.

      I started collecting bourbon a year ago, there’s a bottle on that counter, it’s sitting in an antique ashtray...I must have searched for this bottle for six months. Finally got one, opened it up and...I don’t like it😂😂. Cool bottle though.

    I use the brunt Marin’s with composite toe and have no complaints. Warmest boot I’ve ever worn in winter at 0 degrees Fahrenheit. Also haven’t had a comfort issue 6 foot 200 pounds. Not a tear or stitching issue but the lace hooks are shit. For the price well worth it

    • @doublebase6509
      @doublebase6509  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, I have to be honest, I couldn’t stand them. I’ve never owned a boot that broke down so fast in my life. A friend of mine also bought them at the same time and his broke down even worse. But I’m glad they’re working out for you! And if they’re working out for you for the $140 bucks they charge for a pair of boots, that’s great! So far the Carolinas have been great for me.

  • @justinyoungstown

    Don't forget about the heel blowing out and your heel rubbing against the leather.

  • @gnickolas69
    @gnickolas69 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Those carolinas will soften alot. I have the same but with heel. And the sole wears fast. Was gonna try the brunts but maybe not now

  • @luisestevez4854
    @luisestevez4854 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

    The Carolina boots have two drawbacks, the sole wears out really fast, and there's a plastic piece covering your toes on the inside lining that with wear the lining starts to break exposing the plastic that breaks up and hurts your toes. Also the lining at the heels wears out exposing the leather and causing discomfort too.

    • @doublebase6509
      @doublebase6509  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I think what you wrote is pretty accurate. I’ve dented my plastic toe and cracked the plastic heel counter. The tongue also is a problem, but I do like the boots - the soles have been great for me (longevity and performance) on cement floors (10,000 plus steps a day).

    • @luisestevez4854
      @luisestevez4854 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @doublebase6509 I liked them too, but those issues, especially the toe cap made it a one time purchase for me. Lasted me for a year and had to retire them. What pisses me off was the leather and the uppers were almost intact, yet the plastic in toe cap used to reinforced the toe cap rendered them useless, I was unable to pull the plastic out or cut the plastic piece hurting my toes inside the boot. The heel counter inside I just tore away the bunched up lining piece. As for the soles, if you walk with your heels and basically lean to the outside the sole wore out really fast to the point where the difference in height watching the boot heel from the back was substantially slanted making it kind of awkward to walk. But that's a specific problem I have in my foot stride when walking which has never been a problem for me with harder sole construction materials, that's why I have been avoiding Crepe wedge soles ever since, comfortable but not lasting. But I'm glad you don't have that problem with your boots. Thanks for replying. Every person's situation is different for sure. Cheers!

    Thank you! That's disappointing about the Brunts. I ended up getting Rockroosters but only because the Brunts were not available in my size. The Rockroosters are also awful...they feel like you're wearing boxes on your feet.

    • @doublebase6509
      @doublebase6509  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I was thinking about trying the Rockroosters, thanks for the info. I’ll pass. I have a friend that bought them a month ago but he ruined the leather by getting stuck in ocean water (long story). Changed the color really bad and he hasn’t worn them since.

    Just got mine for 100! First US boot I've ever owned and I got it for 100 on clearance since they were discontinued so I'm excited. I bought them cuz my Georgia's amp lt moc toe got discontinued too and this one seems better so I'm stoked for them to come in

    • @doublebase6509
      @doublebase6509  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      My opinion they do. I went with the wide. They have a big toe box area, which I like. So far so good. Reasonable price, good comfort, decent traction so far. I like them! Much better than Brunts.

    Have you ever tried the thorogoods? Looking at the carolina and throgoods moc toes

    • @doublebase6509
      @doublebase6509  ปีที่แล้ว

      I have, I liked them. Very similar to the Carolina Amp toe. I’m also now rotating a pair of Duradero’s...very similar to the Thorogoods. They offer a free resole with every purchase. Friend gave me a discount code that runs out at the end of the month, 50% off. “JPB 50”. So far the boots have been very good, but they run large. But Thorogoods are an excellent boot. Cork filling under the lasting board. That’s a quality material for a work boot.

    • @chub9173
      @chub9173 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The Thorogood moc toe and the Carolina moc toe are almost literally the same boot. The Thorogood has a fiberboard shank vs. Carolina having the steel shank. The carolina has a little wider toe box as well. Both built the same way but are completely different companies.
