    We need more travel blogs like this - the video was straight to the point, and answered so many of my questions.
    My choice is made now - I'm going to Hyatt Ziva Zilara in February.

      PS - if you're a foodie and enjoy what they have to offer here, you may want to put Hyatt Ziva Riviera Cancun on your radar - I've been there twice since it opened last September and it's on par with Cap Cana for the wow factor. Cheers!

      @@ChristineTurner I saw it and love it - thanks for sharing! The part where he makes the drink and smokes it in the glass drink-vault thing was awesome (Miami needs to learn how to do that). This place is definitely on my radar now.
      That being said, I'm trying to plan my "dream vacation" for 2022 and could use a travel consultation - you obviously know what you are doing. I called escapes and left a message at your ext. earlier this week. If there is someone there with equal expertise that you can refer me to, that would be fine.
      Looking for a resort that that has...
      - Beach/Ocean
      - Swim-up-pool bar (preferably several of them)
      - Adults only section
      - Casino
      - Night Club
      - Bacon Cheeseburgers
      ***SUPER BONUS *** A lazy River - one where you can float and relax with a beer in your hand for hours-on-end (and little kids can't squirt you with water cannons)

    Christine: a couple of things. 1) I first stayed there in Aug. 2020 (shortly after they reopened), then again in April and Sept 2021. The Club food presentation is NOT a buffet as you show but rather a menu of pre-packaged selections that weren’t even out. This was done for safety as well as a cost savings measure and I was told by an executive that it may not come back to the normal presentation. So I question the video of what you show with the open buffet. They also told me (last year) that the lounge was mainly going to be used for check in/out and to pick up drinks...and NOT a place to sit and relax. My next visit is later this month. I hope that this functionality has changed (re. hanging out in there); I suspect that the buffet service for food is gone. If that’s the case, it lessens/reduces the value of having that access. Meanwhile, visits last year (late 2021) to the Club Room at the Ziva in Los Cabos had a normal and regular buffet presentation. Meanwhile, the newest Dreams Macao Beach had a staff assisted fully operational buffet in their Club Lounge immediately after they reopened after the closure in 2020, with a normal/full spread of food throughout the day. If the Ziva/Zilara stay this way as far as the offerings, then it is definitely a downgrade to what was previously offered and what we pay for.
    2) Where/how did you find out about the Blue Mall shuttle? We’ve been to this hotel 3 times and I have never seen or been told anything about it?

    • @ChristineTurner
      @ChristineTurner  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Mat! Yes a lot has changed since Covid and the Hyatt properties in particular really moved away from the self service buffet. I was there in November 2019 when it just opened and again in January 2020, and that's how it was at the time. I'm sure they will go back to that style - it's just going to take some time for everything to settle back down again.
      Since things are getting back to normal, I'm sure you'll find that it's back to being a lounge again but I'd love to hear your reports once you're there.
      I was at the Ziva in Cabo in October and the main buffet was 100% no-touch and they were attempting to do the same at the Club lounge.
      The new Hyatt Ziva Riviera Cancun's (there in Sept & Dec 2021) buffet was also no-touch, but it's kind of a pain, so again, I'm sure it'll go back to self-serve, if it hasn't already.
      The Blue Mall shuttle was something that they offered pre-Covid. The mall was pretty lame but there is a grocery store next door and that's a great place to pick up inexpensive sunscreen or bug spray or Rum. I think it was discontinued during Covid for obvious reasons but you can always get there by taxi.
      Thanks for watching and for your comments and please add your feedback when you go back to Ziva/Zilara Cap Cana!

    Error in this video: If you stay in the Ziva side and you are over 18, you CAN go to Zilara (no matter if you're in a club level room or not).
    This video states you have to be 18+ and a club level on Ziva to go to Zilara, and that is not true

    • @ChristineTurner
      @ChristineTurner  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi Kayla! Yes this is absolutely true! I'm not sure where it's stated that you have to be Club and 18+ but that would only be to experience the Club areas on the Zilara side. Anyone 18+ can visit all other areas of the Zilara resort.

      @ChristineTurner In your video you stated if you're in club level at Ziva and over 18, you can go to through Zilara side 🙂

      @@kayladeveau2984 Hi Kayla. I'm afraid that's incorrect. In the video, I clearly stated that guests 18+ can visit the Zilara side (03:30) but I also added that guests 18+ who are booked into a Club room on the Ziva side can also visit the Club Lounge on the Zilara side (03:34). The only people who have access to the Club Lounge & areas are Club guests - it has nothing to do with age.

    • @ChristineTurner
      @ChristineTurner  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi Santa! Yeah I truly agree - I think it should be a perk of upgrading to a Club room. That or limit the charges to full day use. If they aren't being used by noon, open them up for anyone to use (which will then free up some of the regular pool loungers!).

    • @santaortega2198
      @santaortega2198 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @ChristineTurner  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@santaortega2198 Hi Santa! Yeah, if they were smart, they'd keep the charge really low, like $25/day and then they'd be making tons of extra revenue and they'd get used. When it's $200/day, that is nuts.

    Hi Christine. You mentioned your affinity for white wine in the evening. Do you know what reds and whites are the house wines, and were there different brands available/included in the club lounges? Better wine in the club lounges would be a prime reason for us to upgrade.

    • @ChristineTurner
      @ChristineTurner  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Greg - I tried to reply to this earlier but it doesn't look like it posted. I know there were at least 2 whites and reds - I believe it was Pinot Grigio and Sauvignon Blanc and the red was Cab Sauv and Merlot if I recall correctly. No additional options for that in the Club Lounge but if you like beer, there were a TON of extra options in Club compared to the regular bars. I've stayed at a lot of Dreams/Secrets resorts and can't stand their Antillas (?) wine and I thought the stuff at Hyatt was okay. Everyone's palate is different though, so it really depends on what you prefer. Hope that helps! Thanks for watching.

      Hi Syz! I think the beach is slightly better at Secrets, only because the palm trees are more developed and they have more shade on the beach, but I thought the food at Hyatt blew away the food at Secrets (which was also very good). Either option would be solid though. Can't go wrong in Cap Cana.

      Right now, because of Covid, governments are regulating what the maximum occupancy can be. I believe it’s still 30% in the Dominican and 50% in most parts of Mexico. I think it’s great because you don’t have to fight to get a lounge chair or wait to get in to the a la carte restaurant but it is more quiet than normal. Hi Michael! Hyatt doesn't do wristbands as a rule (with the only exception being Hyatt Ziva Los Cabos) so it's all tied to your room #. Hi Mayhem. Ocean Front rooms have the best view but they cannot be pre-booked as Club rooms. You can arrange this through the Concierge prior to arrival or once you get there though. Rates vary based on occupancy but the average rate seems to be $85-100 per person per night. Thanks for watching!

    My wife and I are going in May. We are currently booked for the family side. Do you think it’s worth switching over to the adult only side?

      Sorry for the delay - thought I had responded to this already. I think both sides are nice. Ziva side has nice elements like the swooping pool but I think more rooms on the Zilara side would have an unobstructed view of the ocean. Depends a bit on what type of room you've booked. I suppose it depends if the sound of kids playing outside will annoy you or not LOL! Either way I'm sure you'll have a fabulous time! Enjoy! Thanks for watching!

      Which room category did you book?

      @@ChristineTurner just the jr king. Thought I would get that and see if the upsell at check in gave a better deal on other rooms. Thoughts?

      Well that's the most basic room category which means it's in the main building above the lobby. The view of the resort & beach from the lobby is pretty spectacular on either side but more so on Zilara side (the seafood restaurant on the Ziva side is quite high). I'd probably wait and see what the view is like. Also, assuming you booked directly through Hyatt, about 2 weeks prior to arrival, you'll likely receive some upgrade offers, so you can decide then. Or hope for the elusive free upgrade!! Have fun!

    Does globalist status get this club access?

    • @ChristineTurner
      @ChristineTurner  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Tremayne - I don't know this for sure but I checked on the Facebook fan group page and someone indicated that you get auto-upgraded to Club as a Globalist and you get Butler service. You may wish to reconfirm before you book your room category to make sure you'll have access to Club. Thanks for watching!

    I went here because of how you presented this hotel. What was forget to mentioned was colorism here. Holy cow. This place sucks and it’s very boring.

      Hi Jezika! I published 48 videos of this resort, all in color and all showing what the resort looks like. The trend for ALL hotels lately is toward muted colors and minimized decor. I hope your trip gets better.
