This video is super-helpful! Thanks so much for posting it. We will be staying at Zilara and have booked a swim-up junior suite. We want to have sun during the day, so that the pool water is warm enough, as we've read that the pools are not heated. However, I prefer to spend most of my time in the shade. We also like quiet and privacy. I am assuming that Building 5 is our best option, but can you make any specific room recommendations, perhaps on an end? Also, do you think they would allow us the use of an umbrella on our terrace for the length of our stay? Any advice you could provide would be much-appreciated!
Hi Lori I'm glad you enjoyed the video! The non-Club side will have more sun throughout the day and rooms with a lower number will get the first shade from the main building (eg. 5102) The sitting area on the deck is reasonably deep, so you should be able to sit in the shade there and pop out to your pool area for a dip when you need to. You could also post this to the group on Facebook and see if anyone who is there right now has anything else to add. I don't think that they would allow an umbrella because it's not really functional or safe but as I say, the deck area is pretty deep, so you shouldn't have an issue. Even in this video (th-cam.com/video/j4_vQT1N1mg/w-d-xo.html), at 03:19, you can see how the shade is already making the couch an option (this is showing an equivalent room on the Ziva side). Hope this helps! Thanks for watching and have a fabulous time!

Hi Kecia! It’s on the far right side as you face to water and it would depend which section of that building you’re in as to what the view would be. We were in the section closest to the main lobby and we had a good view of the ocean from out balcony and an excellent view of the pools. I would recommend asking for a room on a higher floor for the best view!
Hi, I booked a Club Ocean Front Swim Up Suite at Ziva. I definitely want sunshine the majority of the day… I also like the offerings of the club. Is this a good choice? Thank you!
Hi Starla! YES!!!! This is a great option! With Club, you’ll have access to their separate pools and bar, the lunch restaurants and the lounges. IMO, it’s 100% worth the extra cost as you get so much benefit from it. Definitely take a pool floatie so you can take full advantage of having your ‘almost private’ pool area!
Okay so commenting because I've stayed at building 6 Zilara side. The swim up suites are great absolutely great. However I will note this, for building 6 and it's Ziva side comparison. That shade while amazing made the pool legit cold some days with the pool not being heated one bit. It would be nice if it was heated! Would allow using them at night
I think they frown on using them after dark for liability reasons but I agree - having them heated would certainly enhance the experience - especially when the sun tucks behind the main building. One of their sister properties (Hilton Playa del Carmen) has heated swim outs, so maybe this is in the cards for a future upgrade. Let’s keep our fingers crossed!! Thanks for watching and for the comment!
Hi Andrea! For the past twenty years, I/we would arrive at a resort, check out the room and decide if the view was what we expected. If it wasn’t, before unpacking, we would vary our bags back to reception and ask for a better room. This doesn’t happen much anymore because I always book Oceanview but I used to roll the dice a lot more in the past so it became habit. Only place I’ve tipped for a better room is Vegas (‘the twenty dollar trick’).
Do the glass doors on the swim up rooms lock from the outside? I assume they lock from the inside for safety but do you know? I’m concerned about the security of being on a ground floor with some valuables in our room when we leave for the beach or walk around. Love your videos!
No you can only lock these from the inside but getting out of the swim ups to go to the beach would be a bit tricky since it’s a drop down below. From your front door, you’re just steps to the outside, so that really is the way to go in and out. Agreed - you always want to keep your room secure.
We are staying at a oceanfront swim up a Suites Ziva side. Are the views beautiful from the ocean front swim up suite I didn’t see anything on that in your video, I noticed the swim up suites had a lot of cabanas in front of their view. Hoping you could give me information on the view of the ocean front swim ups.
Hi Jennifer! I had an Oceanfront room on the Zilara side - 2nd floor. It had an amazing view and the swim outs did too BUT that was when it first opened (which was before Covid) and there's been a lot of shrub/tree growth since then and they are really driving the cabana business too, so that could impact your view. I think their intention is to help maintain some privacy for those suites. To see a current view from those rooms, I would look at joining one of the Hyatt Ziva/Zilara Cap Cana fan pages on Facebook - there will almost certainly be someone in there who has been recently, is there now, or is going soon and they'll be able to give you more accurate, up-to-date info on that specific room type. Cheers!
We booked a club oceanfront at Ziva. Would that definitely be building 2 or are there any of these rooms in building 3? Also, are the rooms only on floors 3,4 of building 2 due to the restaurant ? Thanks. Great video.
Hi Paul! Yes, building 2 & 6 are Club wings but the Oceanfront rooms in 3 & 5 are also Club. Yes - there are restaurants on the ground floor of building 2 & 6 (they're delicious!) but you might get some noise from them (or be hungry all the time when you smell them prepping in the kitchen!). You can inquire ahead of time to request your room location or ask at arrival. Have a great trip & thanks for watching!

Hi Delanie! Any room category with "OceanFront" is going to have oceanfront views. If you select a room that is called "Ocean View", it will be on the side of the building, still somewhat facing the ocean but not directly on the beach. Thanks for watching!
Great video! For the Ziva, non club rooms. Are any of them near walkways with a lot of traffic? We are asking because we don’t want a room with too much traffic close by. Should we recommendation particular room/area?
Thanks! If you're looking at a swim up room, I would stay away from each end (3107 is at the very front (but not Ocean Front) and 3127 is at the back. Both have walkways and 3127 will also be near the sports bar & theatre, so you'll have a bit more ambient noise from that. When I was there (before Covid), they had planted some shrubbery in front of the pool to give it a bit of privacy. My guess is that's a lot higher now, so you wouldn't be able to walk out of the pool and to the beach. That said, the hallway where your room is has an exit at the end of it, so you could just leave your room and walk out to the beach - maybe 50' or so walking 'inside' then onto the sand, you would be. Hi Lucifer. To book the swim up suites that are shown in the video that are directly on the beach, you need to book the OceanFront Swim Up suite category. There are only 12 of these rooms, so they sell out very quickly.
