Not really. The mechanics were horrible and too casual. The expansions made the first game a little better, but BF2 was genuinely such a fun game with a good amount of content at launch. Unfortunately it was ruined at launch by malpractice. It eventually became a very very enjoyable experience but it was overshadowed by a disastrous launch that held the game back for its first year. I really hoped they would make a Battlefront 3 and learned from their mistakes to create a complete and enjoyable game at launch.
Me and my friend, both Star Wars geeks, played this for many hours together. He passed away earlier this year at 42. I never got why any of my other Battlefield friends never played this as much as we did. It was a blast and I'll never forget it. edit: I *really* don't care about the likes. I just shared a sentiment about why I'll always have fond memories about this game (and BF4/BF1). thanks everyone else
@@Calvin_Calvin The thing about that is u if u live on the east coast and him on the west, u would play in 2 separate servers. And thats not counting the entire world like Europe servers, Asia servers, Oceania servers, ect.
@@FEWGEE1 agreed, i find myself missing a lot of the maps from bf2015. i wish i could go back to those days. i didnt mind the pickups so much, except it did lend itself to a broken game when it glitched and way too many people were playing as heroes.
This game truly felt like you were experiencing the original star wars trilogy, if only it had been allowed to expand the amount of content over time without all the paywalls
This game would be one of the best most successful games if they updated it added heroes content even a battlefront 3. but they tried to save a dead franchise battlefield and killed this game off I still play all these years later and I still enjoy it a lot
Totally agree with you, I really like playing BF2 but the feeling on this Battlefront is something different, you can feel the blasters, the environment and sounds
The incredible level of immersiveness in Battlefront 1 compared to BF 2 is just an illustration of when the developers actually had the ability and desire to create something of their own, not just trying to play along with the players and producers. This is a GAME, not just a PRODUCT where the wrapper is more important than the content. After all the DLC were released, every battle felt like a real journey into the atmosphere of a galaxy far away with a ton of controversial, but therefore gorgeous creative decisions. Just remember how interesting it was in Phase 3 to destroy the Death Star, how it felt to play for your favorite Jedi, the chance to play for whom could be once in five battles, and how we all froze seeing ships crashing in the sky above Jakka and were afraid to fall into the mouth of a monster on one of the maps of Tatooine. There was even a free mission in VR! There was no constant jumping between different eras, no ability to take on any hero in any match, no Anakin Skywalker vs Darth Vader battles, etc. You don't think that's important? Next time you're in front of the screen seeing Bobby Fett and Emperor Palpatine in the Battle for Naboo, think about it again. The problem is also that it's much more important for many people to be able to play as their favorite character every match than to actually enjoy the immersiveness. This was shown by the awesome "Ewok hunting" mode, which nobody played a couple of months after release.
The Hoth level in this game was so much fun. Even after playing the beta constantly for hours it was the level I craved the most months after launch. No other Star Wars game has nailed a Hoth level so well.
Well they completely bungled it, Battlefront was initially just a copy paste job of Battlefield but with a Star Wars coat of paint. They screwed the pooch, remember watching beta gameplay and immediately canceled by preorder by how arcady and lacking basically all the features and game modes of the original game.
@@Shishomuru What? If anything, it should've copied more of the Battlefield formula. Combat and maps in Battlefront was even more arcade than Battlefield, and it only had 20v20 maps. We wanted epic large scale maps with lots of vehicles but was given some corridor like arcade shooter.
@@saucyx4 I can definitely say aside from the better heroes and lightsaber combat in BF2, I enjoyed this one so much more and have way more memories on it for some reason
I also love how the blaster bolts look in this game. In the newer BF2, the bolts just kinda whiz by and you can barely notice. But here you can very well see them and even when you fire the bolts look like you have weight to them.
When this game released, soo many kids at my high school - myself included - fell in love with this game. We played the absolute crap out of it during a pre-release free play, if I'm not mistaken. Needles to say, most of us bought and thoroughly enjoyed the game, reliving memories and creating new ones that I still hold dear.
I remember playing this game and saying, that for the foreseeable future no game needs to bother trying to look better than this. No game should bother trying to exceed the level of graphical fidelity on display here, because the combination of visuals and performance here is truly unparalleled by anything that came before or after.
The gameplay in BF1 was so much more fun than in BF2 imo. The movement was way faster and the skill level needed to jump-pack, swap equipment quickly, etc. was way higher. I really missed this game when BF2 came out and the population died out.
@@KINGOFKARNAGE it might be a better game overall, yes. However I personally tend to prefer gameplay over extra features, graphics, content, etc. (I still play Quake Live 20+ years after Quake 3 came out lol)
This game is beautiful. It’s sound design is so immersive and the visuals feel exactly like Star Wars should. It’s a nostalgia trip of a game and the details are spot on. The music is the perfect arrangement of ambient, Star Wars-y melody and iconic themes. I still play this game regularly and it’s a blast.
I always think so fondly of this game. There is just a certain charm about it, the music, unique maps like the rebel transporter outpost on tattooine, and heroes vs villains was epic
They honestly nailed almost everything about this game. One of my all time favourites. Especially loved the shoulder swapping in third person was so sick. Only problem was OP heroes Bossk in particular was just ridiculous
This was my favorite shooter as a kid. I was only 13 when it dropped, and coming on to these maps every day was surreal. The ambiance, the hard visuals, the intros to the lore. Easily one of the games I’m most grateful for.
I was always blown away by the detail on the plainer levels like the snowy Hoth and sandy Tattooine. The shadows on all the little rocks and cracks were incredible.
@@deadmau56661 never done solo to be able to just play whatever but I’m trying to. The games that sound lot to play would be Persona 5, Witcher 3, and probably battlefront 2 cuz I think it’s a better game weird how ur got downgraded but maps like Kamino still look beautiful
I just want to mention the DLC in this game was incredible too. Arguably it should NOT have been limited behind a paywall, but I must have put hundreds of hours into the Death Star and bespin dlcs alone. Added a whole new section to the game, kept it fresh for months longer than it would have been if they weren’t reeased
I loved the death star and rogue one dlc in this game. I redownloaded it and tried to queue for the dlcs but couldn’t get a lobby. Had me bummed out but it was obvious that was gonna happen
Part of why I stopped playing was cos of the fact that pretty much all the content was locked by a paywall and coming from humble beginnings that wasn't something I could do. Shame cos I really loved this game whilst it was active and would put a lot more time into it if we at least got some more stuff for free
Playing the beta, the Immersion itself sold me on the game. Even got me into the star wars universe. Absolutely worth the experience no matter how shallow the game ended up being. One of my favourite games of the decade.
Same. For the me the gameplay is just good enough. I know it's not true to the originals but when I played Battlefront 2 I wanted to go back to this one, simply because it was so accessible.
I dont think I've ever been as immersed in a game as this one after playing that beta. It was just incredible how I felt like I was actually in star wars actually on hoth. Incredible game that I keep fondly in my heart
The consensus always was that the big issue of that game were in the extreme lack of content and the arcade-ish puckups everywhere. The rest was amazing, i dumped good amounts of time in it with my buddies.
The Battlefront E3 gameplay trailer was the best presentation of an upcoming game ever. I remember that I was really hyped when I saw it in the livestream. The game wasn't perfect by no means but I loved it. It didn't deserve the hate.
The game had barely any content and cut out most of the things people liked from the original games. It isn’t a terrible game when looked at on its own, but to a Battlefront fan it was insulting and it absolutely deserved the hate.
I always thought this game was ahead of it's time when it was released. Graphically this game was unmatched and clearly still holds up to this day. It blew me away and I loved the gameplay it was tons of fun! Great change in the FPS genre.
@@DrTheRich BF2 was fixed in a couple of months and then there was 0 in app transactions and all updates were free with new maps and characters every couple of months
No one questions whether the game looked good, everyone was upset that there was barely any game and then there was $50 day one DLC. As some people put it: the game was a very pretty tech demo. Photogrammetry is a wonderful tool and this game fully utilized it to a degree that many other games hadn't and still haven't (which surprises me, honestly). I think the main issue is that games today are having incredibly troubled developments which is why we aren't getting the same level of visual polish.
as someone with about 1000h in swbf 2015 and 150h in swbf2 i have to disagree. sure you could argue that it had few content and teamplay in comparison to bf4 f.e. but they absolutly nailed the feeling. both of being in the star wars universe and gameplaywise. yes it was an arcady shooter. it was easy to learn but hard to master if you wanted to be at the top of the leaderboard every round
Because photogrammetry is very limited in many, many ways. It's extremely powerful but thankfully we still need to hire talented texture and model artists.
@@throwacnt7603 yeah, I dont know the limits of it too much. I remember back in college in 2014 it was a big deal and there were a bunch of classes on how to use it, but that's the extent of my knowledge.
Nothing will beat the experience of playing battlefront for the first time, with this incredible graphics engine, running around the open battlefield and looking up and seeing x wings and tie fighters fly above in a dog fight. Battlefront 2 in particular did an incredible 180, and ended its life cycle as a genuinely great multiplayer gane
I still remember playing the beta in early 2015. Going through the Hoth map again and again. I never got sick of it. Even to this day, fighting through Outpost Beta is the most immersive Star Wars experience put to screen imo.
@@Luke_SkyWalker2187 that’s saying a lot coming from Luke Skywalker himself! You LIVED the real Hoth battle & this game was more immersive than that. Wowzers!
It was. And I really hope we get a Battlefront 3. I can remember when my friends and I were saying "Imagine if we got a Star Wars reskin of Battlefield. We were obviously talking about Battlefield 4 because to me that is the best Battlefield game ever made. I just hope that one day we will get the game we deserve and that we almost got with Battlefront 2.
I just wish they would go in full on it. Like full out classes and everything. I loved playing Galactic/Walker Assault in BFI/II because it felt like that good combined arms feeling but man imagine if they did a full scale Battlefront with Battlefield gameplay and gadget stuff
I would love that, imagine having destructible environments and buildings that you could break with various AT-XX vehicles and explosives. If a game like that does it well, it should be a huge hit. Maybe one day
My god I miss this game. I'm not a huge gamer and was never very good at many since my parents never let me play growing up. This was the first game I really got into and is still the only one I really ever put much time into. I've always been a huge star wars fan. This game captures the sounds and scenery sooo well and really immerses you. I enjoyed the more casual nature as I was never good at more complicated games and didn't have time to learn anything much more complicated. I wish this game still had a large playerbase and I could play it every day still because I had so much fun. I remember playing the beta and having my heart pounding trying to climb the leaderboard in those rounds as I felt I was truly in the midst of a star wars battle. I didn't enjoy being a teenager but if this game doesn't bring back some of the best memories for me idk what does. What I would give to go back to playing this game at its peak for a few hours.
yeah me too :( i played the beta, and since the first round of cargo drop or what it was called i was in love. i remember exactly how i put down my first shield, the ones you could pick up. the sound and feeling of being inside were so immersive, while the beautiful designed sullust rocks blurred outside the blue-ish power shield
Hi there, I don't know if you still feel the same (1 year later), but I am the exact same. I don't know if this interests you, but I play on PS4 and would really enjoy exploring the maps and taking in the ambiance. If you are also on PS4 nd want to join me in a private match, just reply to this post and we can set something up. When I did play online, I tried to explore and take in all the details but spent too much time dying and respawning. Frustrating.
Put 100’s of hours into this game. I never got tired of the 3 large modes and Cargo. Sure, I would’ve liked more maps and felt especially the Death Star maps from the 3rd DLC should’ve been a part of the base game, but I played the Bespin DLC the most and had a lot of fun with this game.
The amount of times I did that speeder bike mission whenever I got bored is very high indeed. One of the most fun parts of any game to exist imo and it’s a shame not everybody even knew it was there or remembers it.
Turning on first person and Boosting through trees at high speed, knowing a slight mistake would put you back at the start, bruuuuuh, that level had adrenaline
Can we talk about how clean the menu of this game was. Everything was clear and easy to use. Everything you needed and nothing you didn't, nice and bright and not cluttered with microtransactions anywhere.
I remember this being the first game I played on my new Xbox One at the time. Coming from 360, I remember being absolutely amazed how beautiful the graphics were. Crazy how fast Engine and graphical technology has developed in such little time.
@@lucasart328 Yeah, I'm not sure what Ranger is talking about. Jack even mentions in the video how this game could be showcased today and most people would be fooled into thinking it's a brand new Star Wars game. There has been zero progression other than real-time ray-tracing rendering in the graphics department that most people would notice prima facie in today's games compared to last gen's games (on PC). In fact, I actually think we've moved backwards, considering that none of today's AAA games even look as good as 2015's Battlefront on ultra settings at 4K resolution.
Same for me when I went from ps3 to ps4 battlefront was the first game I played on in next gen at that time and I was blown away. Now to just get a ps5 lol.
I remember playing it from summer 2016 up until launch of BF 2017. As lacklustre as the game was, it still looked and felt like you were in the movies at all times.
I never understood why this game got so much criticism. Sure it needed some more content, but I played it for months without getting bored and absolutely loved it
Anyone else getting the sense that Jack is saying "where was the love, care and detail for Battlefield?". Battlefront, what a series it has been to play and enjoy
It looks beautiful, I will admit, but there's a reason I still go back to the original Battlefront II, why I spend so much time installing mods and setting up a specifically control layout. It's an absolute classic that offers so many possibilities and gives the player so much freedom. The original Battlefront II was WAY ahead of its time, and still one of the greatest Star Wars titles ever made.
I played this game for many hours back in the day. Not only did it look and sound incredible, but the gameplay was genuinely fun. It wasn't a very technical and twitchy kind of shooter game, but it was loads of fun and really captured the Star Wars aesthetic. It was my main shooter game for many months. I didn't play the sequel nearly as much.
My first ever FPS, an absolutely incredible game that will always bring nostalgia and tear to my eye, remembering the hours I spent on Hoth and Endor just sniping and jetpacking around
Exactly this, just hearing the soundtrack brings so many memories and nostalgia, one of my favourite gaming experiences ever, that I spent hundreds of hours playing
I mean, look at Mirror's Edge for God's sake; that's a 2008 game. It's not about technical capabilities anymore but the dedication of the developer, as seen in this video
You know what's crazy about this too? Most of this looks as sick as it does just because of artistry and hard work. The technology isn't really doing the heavy lifting here at all. Photogrammetry is a big part of it of course, and then you have nice fog and a good lighting model. Those are most of the incredible looks, and any other effects are just adding to it.
Technology does all of the heavy lifting. Beautiful environments from great artists are a dime a dozen. But the way their engineers were able to push the limits of graphic fidelity like never seen before in a video game is what sets it apart from the rest. Definitely the technology no doubt about it.
@@sungiant2000 Yeah it's pretty easy for people who don't understand the insane engineering behind the scenes to overlook it all. The Only reason the artists have the ability to take so many liberties and do so many cool things IS BECAUSE of the technology behind it. The technology is the foundation holding up all the weight and then the artists are just free to come in and have a field day with it. If you put those same artists on the average engine at the time it would just look like all the other games at that time because they aren't doing the heavy lifting. The technology is.
I loved this game. Had something like 300 hours on this game which is a lot for me. Unfortunately, many of my friends did not get it due to the criticisms. However, I made a lot of memories with them in BF2. It was really fun hearing everyone panic when we ran into Darth Maul lol
I always thought this game was way ahead of its time and way underrated even to this day. Thank you for this video Jack, this kind of thing needs to be brought to more peoples attention.
For some reason this battlefront seemed more immersive than the second and I was not sure why, but the effort put into it as you describe must be the reason.
For me the second one seemed to flood the map with hero characters. And they were not era accurate as well which kind of wound me up a bit because it broke the immersion being an original trilogy storm trooper fighting against Mace Windu with Kylo Ren by my side. Might just be me nit picking tho
I think with how limited heroes were compared to the 2nd where there is always a hero character just wrecking people somewhere made a huge difference in the immersion
I've been playing video games for 20+ years and the first time I played this game it was almost surreal how good it looked and sounded. I'll never forget that experience.
This game was why I got into pc gaming in the first place. I remember seeing it and freaking out about how good it looked, I watched numerous graphics card tests on the game because I wanted to see if I could play it with my measly gtx 960 and I upgraded just for this game. Such a beautiful masterpiece.
Man, I lived on this game for a solid 2 years. Had some special feeling to it, some magic to it. Something so unique about the sound design, locations, visuals, that made it so “warming” and brought so much magic. Game is a masterpiece
After playing the original 2 battlefronts for over a decade strong when I was younger, I can say this one felt a lot more like battlefront than the sequel, the only issue was the lack of classes and conquest, if they ever made a third with the dedication they had for both previous entries it would no doubt be phenomenal
Highly disagree with that, but that’s okay. Battlefront 2 is miles above this game in every way except graphically. In which, it may be slightly under but released with at least 6 times the content and people complained that even that wasn’t close to enough. It was also intended from the heroes, to the gameplay, to the star fighter combat to look and play like an updated original Battlefront 2 and it succeeded in that.
@@danieltravelstead didn’t say the second installment wasn’t better, which it was. I’m saying it was a closer feel to the original series on ps2/Xbox than the sequel was. In a perfect world we’d have the system of BF2 with the maps/graphics/gunplay of BF1 which imo would give the closest thing to a legitimate sequel of the originals
I first played this game at my friend's house on a sleepover and I was instantly hooked, as a kid who absolutely loved star wars this game was a dream come true
I love this game, this was my very first shooter game. I played this with my cousin non-stop. I remember when Skirmish was available and me an my cousins kept playing it over and over. In that update there were new guns for me to use and I love using the revolver since it's reload was different from the others. This is a fun game...
This game was def stunning, I really liked the jetpack mechanic and the weapons, they totally nailed that Star Wars futuristic but clunky type of technology
You just convinced me to want to play this game again. When it was released, I felt it was lacking a lot, but I've been thinking about the fun I _did_ enjoy with my friends.
Especially after their updates, this game and 2 were tremendous. I’ve sunk 200+ hrs in both games with friends. The feeling of being in the Star Wars universe in this level of detail is second to none.
engineering and art behind the game was truly amazing. we were shocked with a friend of mine when we ran the game at 4k (with our gtx 970s at the time) and saw the graphics. but the gameplay and the content was very lacking. only if we had a star wars game with bf4 level gameplay mechanics
battlefront 2 2005 had masters of storytelling and gameplay single campaign in a multiplayer foucs game where you play as just one of the fellow soldiers, given you taste what the multiplayer would be like instead of being one man army that just doesn't work with multiplayer games.
@@bloodysimile4893 Battlefront 2 2005 “story” was awful, if you can even call it a story. Granted, it’s better than having no campaign. It’s good they made a good, compelling story in the 2017 battlefront game.
Walker Assault was peak. I wish we got it in BF2. The sound and visuals (excluding character models) were vastly superior in BF1. After all the revisions that BF2 got, I have mixed opinions on which has the better gunplay.
When this game first released I found it lacking gameplay wise after a very short time. But then I just regularly played Onlinebattles or battles with bots with the HUD turned off. Just soaking in the incredible visuals, audio and atmosphere. A truly immersive experience and I still find myself coming back to it from time to time. I think it's just one of the coolest things as a star wars fan.
Always loved how good the new battlefront games looked, every time I return I am so immersed in the world. Its a shame that both fell flat, the first with lack of content and the second was killed on arrival due to loot boxes, even thought it did slowly get redeemed over time. All i need is a battlefront game with galactic conquest and I'll be a happy man
@@jimstunt9893 sure does. Feels like it’s tucked away in the menu a bit but it’s called galactic assault. Love that BF2 lobbies are still very much alive
Twilight on Hoth was by far my all time favorite battlefront map. I also loved how scary facing heroes/villians were as a trooper, it made them actually be powerful!
This game made up a major part of my childhood and I never really stopped to think about how amazing it really was, there will never be another game that gives me the joy that this one did.
IKR. I just remember the heroes and villains modes, the dogfights, blasting through AI on split-screen with friends or my brother. Hell my TH-cam channel is so old enough that I still have videos of me doing just that. I loved Bf1 so much.
it's always weird to see a game so hated, being praised years later When this first came out, all I saw was people complaining about either the forced micro transactions to keep playing the game, and the fact that all the good parts of the originals were taken out but here in 2022 apparently this game in fact didn't die, and some people actually enjoyed it
I feel like that in recent years the industry has spiraled down even much further down so compared to games that came after it this game is alright. just as this game wasnt when compared to games that came before it when it came out.
You're getting confused. BF2 had problems with microtransactions. These were all removed after the huge backlash. This video talks about its predecessor BF2015 or just battlefront.
Playing with friends and as my first multiplayer FPS, this will always be a special game to me - a lifelong SW fan and getting to experience the fidelity of this was mind blowing!
A lot of Star Wars Battlefront (2015) is so much more satisfying than Battlefront II (2017), the blaster bolts feel so much heftier, the details deeper. I regret we didn't get the Clone Wars era with this level of visual fidelity, but I'm glad we ever got it in HD at all.
It was my favorite game, I loved the simple gameplay, the impressive graphics, and the experience as a whole, for me I felt like I was in a Star Wars universe. playing the starfighters which could terrorize the on-ground player, the excitement of getting to be a hero/villain, and also playing the other fun game modes. It was just spectacular.
This was the first shooter I ever played on a console. My favourite game of all time. I spent so many hours playing every game mode, multiplayer and single. I even used to glitch out of the map to try and explore, as well as watch videos which went outside map boundaries to explore further. Something fun, is that in many of the maps, you can actually find unrendered versions of other maps. Like you can see rebel depot on jundland wasters, and the tutorial mission on outpost beta. I love this game so much. I’m very happy you made this video.
Being a member of the 501st legion I’ve studied costumes for years ever since 2013, and let me tell you they nailed the look of the troopers. It’s the most detailed video game troopers I’ve ever seen, they scanned the real armor in the archives it looks hand made as it was in the movies. The stormtroopers were modeled specifically after a return of the Jedi armor.
My first console was the xbox 1s and one of the games i got was starwars battle front. Sadly my parents would not let me go online so i only played with friends at my house or theres but these where some of my best memories and it hurt when my friends said that the game sucked. I still sometimes play the game but not as much as i used to. Hopefully more people start playing because of this. Thank you for making this.
Great to see so many ppl appreciate this game at the level it deserves. I was so immersed in this game. That first time you take out an AT-AT in your speeder…. Jedi feels! Miss this game so much, especially hogging the AT-ST and taking ppl out as they scurry around for cover lol
I must say I always loved DICE for what they do: Creating realistic shooter games to dive into. And I played SWBF about 50 hours and the athmosphere was one of the things wich held me in the game, same as Battlefield 5 on some maps.
I still remember every time that you’d destroy an airship at go through the scraps you could actually hear how the little pieces of the destroyed airship would hit against yours
A great game by dice and still to this day one of the only games that fully immerse me in star wars (As well as battlefront 2 2005). I loved that you were able to choose from a wide variety of weapons (the dl-44 being my personal favorite) as well as star cards. This is something that i didn't like about the 2017 battlefront as you were somewhat restricted to what your loadout was.
Same. I got the PS4 Battlefront bundle and the graphics absolutely blew me away in 8th grade lol. Next game I got alongside it was Batman: Arkham Knight and that game still looks incredible as well. Tbh, I think the PS4 generation will be remembered very fondly in the future.
I've played hundreds of hours of both DICE Battlefront titles and prefer the visuals of this one by far. The environments feel so authentic that my memories of playing this game carry a lot more emotional weight despite Battlefront 2 offering a lot more in terms of gameplay. I do not miss those singleplayer missions but the speeder bike chase was good. If you hadn't said anything, I thought for sure you would have crashed at a couple of points. 😬
Finally someone said it. The visuals of this game always spoke to me more than the second game did. I still play it every now and then and I think I enjoy myself in this game a little more than the second. Just wish it had everything we were looking for at the time ya know
As someone who plays the original battlefront 2 very often I think the dice battlefront 2 plays better. The heroes are more fleshed out and special units like clone commandos and droidekas made the matches far more interesting. I’ll always keep playing the OG battlefront games but I’m not going to let nostalgia override reality.
I remember playing this and thought I found my new "main" game, instead of BF. Super casual fps, you never needed to sit up, just admire the maps while you shoot some heads
Yeah the game looked amazing, ran well and was fun to play. It just didn´t last that long before I wished it had more depth/skill ceiling as well as more content.

Not really. The mechanics were horrible and too casual. The expansions made the first game a little better, but BF2 was genuinely such a fun game with a good amount of content at launch. Unfortunately it was ruined at launch by malpractice. It eventually became a very very enjoyable experience but it was overshadowed by a disastrous launch that held the game back for its first year.

something about how this game played was so much more immersive than 2017's battlefront. It just feels like starwars
Totally agree with you, I really like playing BF2 but the feeling on this Battlefront is something different, you can feel the blasters, the environment and sounds
1000% battlefront 1>battlefront 2
I agree completely! Battlefront 1 was the last multiplayer game that I truly adored.
Nah maybe the atmosphere but its lacking content, bad mechanics, these random hero pickups and the list goes on. Only one era was mad too
The Hoth level in this game was so much fun. Even after playing the beta constantly for hours it was the level I craved the most months after launch. No other Star Wars game has nailed a Hoth level so well.

Its a shame that both fell flat, the first with lack of content and the second was killed on arrival due to loot boxes, even thought it did slowly get redeemed over time. All i need is a battlefront game with galactic conquest and I'll be a happy man
Bf2 has it I’m pretty sure, might be called something else though
@@jimstunt9893 sure does. Feels like it’s tucked away in the menu a bit but it’s called galactic assault. Love that BF2 lobbies are still very much alive
@@clearyli what do you play on?
@@clearyli the game revived its self massively and was at its peak then dice stopped making updates ffs there was so much more potential
@@jimstunt9893 Xbox, no more dev support and no mods and people are still going strong :)
Incredible game, thanks for covering and reflecting on this game once again Jack.
Another Great Video 👍
I almost enjoyed this game more than battlefront 2. It was so fun and I loved all the different game modes they had
That speeder bike chase is exhilarating.
Twilight on Hoth was by far my all time favorite battlefront map. I also loved how scary facing heroes/villians were as a trooper, it made them actually be powerful!
Jack! You're the best. More Star Wars content please. Anything!
This game just had a certain charm to it! For those who appreciate the OT models and environments, definitely check this game out!
I loved Bf1 so much.
it's always weird to see a game so hated, being praised years later
When this first came out, all I saw was people complaining about either the forced micro transactions to keep playing the game, and the fact that all the good parts of the originals were taken out
but here in 2022 apparently this game in fact didn't die, and some people actually enjoyed it
People get used to the issues, that's what always happens
I feel like that in recent years the industry has spiraled down even much further down so compared to games that came after it this game is alright. just as this game wasnt when compared to games that came before it when it came out.
Well the game eventually did a 360
@@jack_green So it went back to being awful?
You're getting confused. BF2 had problems with microtransactions. These were all removed after the huge backlash. This video talks about its predecessor BF2015 or just battlefront.
I miss these days, such good times.
I remember when you would clash with Vader and Luke with a random player and it would be such a cool moment!
Brooo this was my first shooter as well lmao
Yoooo same
same in this order BFR1, BF1 ,BFV, BFR2 , BO4, MW

This is how all games should look in 2022. Everything else is subpar if we are capable of making realistic looking open worlds like this.
with a bottomless budget, anything is possible
Well it requires skilled technicians and engineers, not divers!ty hires.
So many good memories with this game, so many emotions I hadn’t felt since playing Star Wars games on the N64 and PS2
This game is a classic, thanks for showing it some love Jack!
Battlefront and BF1 releasing back to back was the peak of DICE.
This was the first game that I played on my PS4! The nostalgia’s hitting real hard right now!
Same here.
Same. I got the PS4 Battlefront bundle and the graphics absolutely blew me away in 8th grade lol. Next game I got alongside it was Batman: Arkham Knight and that game still looks incredible as well. Tbh, I think the PS4 generation will be remembered very fondly in the future.
yeah man me too
I've played hundreds of hours of both DICE Battlefront titles and prefer the visuals of this one by far.
Just wish it had everything we were looking for at the time ya know
I agree… also even though the second game had more Star Wars content the gameplay itself of 2015 felt much better than battlefront 2 imp
Graphically it might have been ahead of its time,
but gameplay-wise, the older Battlefront series were much more fun to play.
Facts
@Logan McGlynn What the hell are you on?
As someone who plays the original battlefront 2 very often I think the dice battlefront 2 plays better. The heroes are more fleshed out and special units like clone commandos and droidekas made the matches far more interesting. I’ll always keep playing the OG battlefront games but I’m not going to let nostalgia override reality.
No lmao. No. I'm sorry, the old games are my childhood, but no. The new ones play miles better.
@@spirituskitsune You are sorry alright.
this game was my childhood. Uncountable nights spent battling in splitscreen against my cousin on the playstation will never leave my memory.
