  • Matt's Country - Episode 24 Choosing a Cheap Bipod for your air rifle. I have purchased many and these two styles are most common. One is far more stable and a better choice in the budget bi pod range. You will find them easily enough on online auction sites and no I'm not selling them. All my own kit, all my own money.

I've got the real deals on mine and have mixed reviews on them.
I paid a lot of money for an Atlas and my biggest gripe is that it goes wonky and misaligned to either left or right. I wish the large knob for direction was not there as this would make it soon much more stable. No matter how tight I manage, I still end up scew whiff.
It does have a benefit in my eyes over the Harris as it allows the legs to be kicked forwards.
In hindsight I should have gone for the cheaper ones and wouldn't worry as much with the thought of trying to modify them. Drilled and a grub screw would eliminate the ability to swivel.
The Harris is too tall?? 6-9 or 13 inches, would prefer maybe 4 inches at lowest?

Quality feedback and useful for everyone here to read. Thanks for the info. That gnurled knob is a mixed blessing isn't it? It does come into play on the cheap ones too... I thought the //cough Harris would be too tall too! But it's actually pretty good.. keep my nose out of the pollen in the long grass ;)

Thanks very much. Hope everyone finds it useful. I'm supposed to ask everyone to like, share, subscribe and stuff, but everyone's grown up enough to know to ignore me utterly :)

I've got the cheap amazon one and the original Harris model, and you can definitely feel the difference in quality. By the way, the hole for mounting a sling is not the metal ring, but the holes that are on the bit that you squeeze together when you mount the bipod. Great video, as always!

Jon, you are right... I hadn't worked that out. Indeed those 2 holes on the squeezy bit are going to exert even more force on it's secure fit. Top man, thank you. If I can work out a way to add a subtitle I will. Thanks for your kind words but also for keeping it real. Grateful :) Matt

Worked out how. Had to remove the auto subtitles and then add that note manually. Have done... thanks Jon

I've got both types for use on my HW100 KT, HW100 BP & FX Mk2 - It feels a bit strange having £20 bipods on £1000 air rifles but I do keep a regular check on them 😀
Great video as ever Matt 👍

I'd not thought about that, but you're right. I spend a fair amount on scopes, and scope mounts. Maybe I should spend more on bi pods....But these mounts are... OK so far

On a complete different note, what oil did you use on the TDR, I want to oil my HW100 Walnut stock

Napier London Gun Stock finish.. applied with fingertips while watching old TH-cam of John Darling for added magic....., then left to dry naturally for a week... then oiled again... and left for 2 weeks... and then a third coat... very therapeutic... it MUST dry ... not in a humid room. It has a fabulous grip to it now :) DO NOT get it in the checkering.. it will fill it up
