- A good while ago I made a video that stated deleting my X5 was a big mistake. Well hopefully you did not believe me because today I talked about how awesome my BMW is. It is a great vehicle and I recommend any automotive enthusiasts to find a M57 powered BMW. Thanks for watching!

I’m buying one of these here in a week. Potholed & tuned already. I’m looking forward to it
No your right buddy!! These vehicles are amazing; it’s more than getting in a car and going from point a to point b. There is an experience to it all and only passionate enthusiasts can feel the difference so coodos to you and your e70 🎉
I’m in Illinois too, awesome! Where did you get the delete/tuning work done at? I’m waiting for my “off-road “ parts to come in soon.
As someone who's researching X5D's I really enjoyed the video. Could you make a video (or comment) on what maintenance items the vehicle has had done in your ownership and if you have any info on past services performed. Appreciate any info you can share, thanks.
Glad you found it useful. I am a strong believer in preventative maintenance. Talking points with the M57, post delete.
-Valve Cover Gasket
-Vacuum lines
-Center Rain Tray Partition
-Thermostat will stick open, and can reduce the life of emission components from vehicle not getting up to temperature
-Harmonic balancer
-Belts / Idler Pulley / Tensioner
-Intercooler seals
- All fluids, transmission fluid is not lifetime
A lot of it is vehicle dependent and service history. Buying one that says dealer maintained is not actually a positive IMO. They run close to 11,000 miles oil change intervals.
Join the Facebook group (North American BMW Diesel Owners Group) Lots of info there
Love the diesel content, I just bought a e70 x5d
Can you provide a list of the items you used for the delete and also link to the tune?
I wish Diesel vehicles were exempt from SMOG in my state! Nice x5.
Can you recommend the shop who can do the mods and tune it in Illinois?
Love the car bro
Great video, sure N57s emission stuff is slightly better but core engine itself is riddled with issues.
N57s are notorious for snapping timing chains after 90k miles, rod bearing issues if followed BMWs idiotic extended oil change intervals of 12.000M-18.000M depending on your location, main bearing problem if ran too long with stretched timing chain and/or damaged harmonic balancer. To make it all worse, timing chain is in the back of the engine so its either an engine or transmission out job.
This is a m57 not n57. Timing chain is in the front.
For the exhaust, did you have to keep any sensors?
Only the o2 and EGT from the DPF. Get rid of the two NOX
Question? Would you buy another one? Are going to be an X5 guy for life?
I’d like to find a 328D wagon at some point but I doubt it would be to replace the X5.
Do you have any bad diesel smell associated with this modification?
Just depends on your tolerance. I grew up around farm equipment and diesel trucks so it doesn’t bother me, kinda like it
I wonder if the diesel smell is the result of the swirl flap delete which would cause it to run less efficient at idle. Thanks for the vids. Glad you are enjoying the x5. It is a wonderful machine.
IMO, the diesel smell is much less noxious than the clogged DPF/CAT smell. That old ammonia smell is rancid.
Promises sound clips…forgets to put sound clips…..😂
