    I'm brand new to Cricut and just trying to learn the basics. Such an informative tutorial! I think I will be taking my stylist back to get the scoring wheel. Right now i'm just scoring paper but in the future I might want to score boxes.

    WOW!!! I usually don’t comment on tutorials, but I am SO VERY IMPRESSED right now, I just have to. Your camera angles, your editing, your explanations, and BEST NON=PROFESSIONAL speaking skills are over the top awesome. Besides REALLY knowing your cricut accessories, you can also explain them and how they work, with almost NO UM’S!!! I realize that seems trivial and picky, but if I take the time to watch someone’s video on ‘their’ specialty, the LAST thing I want to hear is UM, every other word. It makes me lose focus and there have been times I have had to just mute the whole thing and watch, it was that bad. THANK YOU for taking the time to produce a great tutorial and informational video!!!! Oh, and I soooo hit that subscribed button!!! Maybe you could make a youtube about how to successfully youtube?!?!?!?! Keep up the wonderful work! M

    Thank you so much for this very informative video on scoring and how it may cause cracks in the fold. I work with 350 gsm chipboard paper (0.5mm thick) and I can't seem to understand why my folds are cracking constantly and it's because I've been using a single score wheel when I should have used the double scoring wheel.

    I purchased (an original) Maker earlier this year with all the adaptive tools. My tests found (1) the current version of Design Space _does_ differentiate between the single and double scoring wheels and requires you to put in the correct wheel (or edit the tools), and (2) I got a lot more pressure with the scoring stylus than the scoring or double scoring wheels, even when I increased the amount of pressure in the settings for the material I was scoring.
    One trick I found for heavier materials with the scoring stylus (on my Explore Air) is to run several passes with the scoring stylus. (I haven't tried this yet with the scoring wheels on my Maker.) The way to do this is to duplicate the score line multiple times, line them all up, and attach them (both to each other and to the shape of the material you're trying to score).

I believe it helped me make the right decision in getting the Cricut Maker and scoring wheel for most of my paper craft. Meanwhile, I have started to make cards and would love to try foiling. Does the scoring wheel wear out? Which lasts longer and doesn't need replacing, the stylus or the wheel?

    If you use the stylus you can cut and fold in one pass?

    • @AngieHolden

    Any idea on why my scoring stylus keeps popping out and wont stat in the housing. Also got the scoring wheel and the cricket maker says “it is not recognized” despite reloading several times

    • @AngieHolden

      Call Cricut. There is apparently an issue with the holder for the stylus wearing out and needing a replacement.

  • @marklola12
    @marklola12 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Hi there i was wondering if you could help me...well both me and my mum, we are still getting to grips with the cricut explore 2, we got it for Christmas and we are a bit stuck on the scoring side of things.
    when we have downloaded and added designs that have score marks they are nearly all likes this - - - - -
    when we have put the scoring stylus into clamp A it does not do a straight line score but it scores like this - - - - - - - which is no good for cards
    we watched someone elses video and showed a design that had fold creases in it and changed that from cut to score and then the crease lines changed to - - - - - - but he said it will just to a straight line score which i did.
    So i am nit sure how we can get it to do the 1 score line and not - - - -
    it is really driving me nuts
    also when we did put the pen into clamp A till it clicked the pen end was touching the base right away so when we went to cut the card out the pen left line indents all over the card :/

    • @AngieHolden
      @AngieHolden  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      First, make sure the dashed line is a score in Design Space as a line type and not a cut. Second, hold the pen holder when you put it in to make sure it doesn't fall down when you add the stylus. That is probably what happened.

      That is the only option for the Explore. Sorry!

    Hi Angie,
    I came across your vlog and I was wondering if you might be able to help me with an issue that no one seems to actually talk about or even vlog about this topic is bothering me a great deal, the question is below, Please help if you can
    Is it actually possible to Cut and Score in this case - Card for the same Project, Cut away the Outside template so the remainder can then be Scored and when the Cricut Maker is finished all I would need to do then is Crease, Glue and Fold into the finished Project, or am I actually just clutching at Straws and Wasting my time with this idea, your help and advice would be greatly appreciated.

    • @AngieHolden
      @AngieHolden  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes! You can cut and score the same project! Just attached your score lines to the cut card or project.

      Hi Angie,
      Thank you for replying so fast, but how does the Cricut Maker know Where to Cut and Where to Score and in what order should this be done.
      So very Sorry for all the above questions, Angie

    • @AngieHolden
      @AngieHolden  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      You just arrange it where you want the cuts and score lines in Cricut Design Space and this communicates with your Cricut. It will also do the proper order all on its own!

      I would try a different setting. Basically you want a less aggressive cut so you only get that top layer.

    I bought a scoring wheel but couldn't find the scores and went back to my scoring stylus! At least it wasn't a complete waste of money as the housing can be used for othr tips. Another benefit of the scoring stylus is that I don't have to mess around changing blades.

    hi, love your video, however can I use a scoring wheel instead of scoring stylus. I can't figure out how to get my machine to recognize the wheel and not stylus. I was thinking the cartridge image only supports stylus. It's an older cartridge.

      First make sure you have score lines in whatever you are making. Second make sure the scoring wheel is chosen not a blade. Then make sure you have the right end indicated for your material (either single or double.).

      Be sure to hold the pen holder with one hand and push it in with the other to make sure it is seated well. Maybe it is not down enough?

    So if you’re folding in two directions like your paper shows, you have to score twice? One face down for one line and o]one face up for the other?

    • @AngieHolden
      @AngieHolden  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      That probably would not work as you would not be able to get them exact. I would make the ones where you have to fold away from the score line hidden as much as possible on your project.

    That thing came with my maker is NOT A scoring wheel they lied! It’s not it’s not now I have to spend more money on a housing and the wheel because what I’m trying to use which came with the maker isn’t really a scoring wheel 😡SOB!

    • @AngieHolden

      What came with your Maker is a rotary blade that cuts fabric. They didn't lie at all as that is what is advertised. You can see more about what the rotary blade can do here: th-cam.com/video/mVQezBzGcb0/w-d-xo.html
