haha loved the moment sam looked straight into the camera and the next moment he is almost sleeping. thanks for the info! For me the stylus is the lazy option but I like the scoring wheel more because of the crisp lines.
Very helpful Kelly. I must admit I have been quite frustrated with the scoring functions of both my stylus and wheels with neither giving me the deep scoring I can achieve on my scoreboard. I wish Cricut would allow the ability to increase the pressure for scoring as you suggest. I actually experimented with using my foiling tips for scoring as they move over the card took slower than the stylus and find they work quite well and don’t tear the material like the stylus does. I’ll give the double scoring wheel another go however after seeing your tips. Love seeing your gorgeous cat Sam in the video, he’s a very handsome boy!! Thank you for sharing as always.❤😘
Very interesting Orla! Thank you so much for sharing! I will definitely compare the results of the two products, I hadnt thought that it might offer a better result to the others - cant wait to try!
@@KellyRossouw I have only just started to use the foiling tip for scoring so I’ll be interested to see your results. It also works really well on the shiny side of mirror card to achieve a debossed design. ❤️
That just answered my question perfectly. I have not always been happy with the pressure of the stylus. So, I'm wondering if it's wiser to us the cut score lines. I have a lot of Christmas boxes to make and I don't want to be fussing about how well the scoring stylus is actually scoring. Thanks, Kelly. ❤
You are so welcome! I often also use the 12x24 mat when I need to make a lot of something because then I can cut 2 pages at a time, so you may want to do that especially if you are using the scoring wheel! :)
Thanks for the comparison. I did end up getting the stylus due to price but I’ve just decided to give any lines I do a double triple pass specially on card stock and that seem to work fine for me. I’m glad to watch this video tho as I’ve been thinking about maybe investing on a scoring wheel.
This is what I did before getting my Maker. That said, I often find the scoring wheel and double scoring wheel don't provide enough pressure to properly score my heavier papers. I haven't used my Cricuts in a few months (multiple computers taking up the spaces in which they generally sit), so I don't remember if multiple passes with the wheels worked or not.
you said joining the group is free, but when i click join there is choice for three paid service fees a month. none of them are free. love the cat and your voice. and the help you give
Hi there! The Members Only section is a paid subscription, however subscribing to the channel is free! Sorry if that wasnt as clear as it should have been!
Thank you for this video❤❤. BTW what's the green machine in the shelf below the lilac cricut exp. 2? I'm new to the cricuting and not yet acquainted to all their tools and machines.
I would definitely suggest either this or the cricut score tool. I bought an off brand score tool and it doesn’t work! It barely leaves a score line and it’s too hard to see
Sorry to keep bothering you, Kelly, but I have another question about the scoring wheel. 😉 I did some test pieces with the wheel today and I was very pleased with the results. However, the cardstock I will be using for one of my projects is about 270 gsm. If I choose heavy cardstock in the materials list, do you think the scoring wheel would do a satisfactory job on that?
Thanks, Kelly. I ran a test on my cardstock and the double wheel worked beautifully. On the down side, after I ran my test and went back to start the project, my Maker wouldn''t recognize any rotary tool in the B clamp. After support tried to resolve this and couldn't I went online and discovered several videos from people who had had the same problem. All of these videos were ones that had been sent to Cricut, so it appear that this is a well known problem with the Maker family. So, I guess I'm going to have to look for a new machine! 🙄. On the upside, Cricut did give me a promo code toward purchasing a new machine, so that' some help. 🙂
You are welcome! You cant score the back of the card with print then cut, but you can score the front and fold it forward and then back again. If you arent using super thick card it wont be too much of a problem!
Have you checked the holder to see its not cracked? If your machine is under a year old you might want to contact Cricut to see if its a machine problem, if not, im glad you found an alternative!
@@KellyRossouw thank you for your comment. Actually there may be a problem with the stylus itself as I have no problem using anything else in clamp A . I will look at it more carefully

hahah I didnt even notice that! Good catch :)
I also saw that and thought look at you! Purrrrrfect timing
I love your voice and accent! And the concise straight to the point style of your videos. I wish more cricut videos were like this. Thank you.
Ah thank you so much! There are many many more videos on my channel for you to enjoy!!!

That’s a brilliant idea. I have 4 of the 12 x 24 mats, so I could certainly make the project go much more quickly using those! ❤️
I tried both and ended up liking the perforation wheel. I just use it in place of the scoring wheel.
Interesting! Thanks so much for sharing, out of interest - does it not make your material tear more easily?

Can I ask how you adjust how many passes?
I must admit... the scoring pen caused some rips on my cardstock. Thus, the scoring wheel is now my preference.
totally hear that! I can understand the hesitation xx
Would you do a Cricut joy scoring video please?❤
Sure thing!!
Great comparison, would be interested in the joy hack as this is the machine I have.
Thanks for letting me know!
When I started out I got the scoring stylus but have got the scoring wheel now But if I’m in a rush I’ll still use the scoring stylus
Seems like we think the exact same! Love it! great choice

Thank you! Its an old Cricut Cuttlebug, a die cutting machine 😊

No you are never bothering me dont stress! The double scoring wheel is better suited for the thicker cardstock. You will need to score it in reverse!

Hi Sam! Thank you for another wonderful tip and video!
You are so welcome!
Clearly explained, thanks and I'm subscribing now!
Welcome aboard! Thank you so much!
Very helpful explanation. Thank you for sharing! You have a cute kitty 🙂

I gave your video a thumbs up 👍🏻. Sam, made me do it.. 😂seriously, great video.
Awesome! Thank you! haha Sam was the real MVP here - its true!! :D
Thank you for the info!
My pleasure!
I could never get the scoring stylus not to tear the paper. I deboss now with no problem

Thanks for this great video ......... Thank you to Sam xx
Glad you enjoyed it!
My scoring stylus keep popping out help me please.
This might be your pen adaptor that might be broken. Have you taken it out to check the teeth?
I am not liking the stylus at all
It can be super frustrating to use! But sometimes its just so much easier x
