I keep meaning to setup some kind of store, but the exploration of possibility always gets interrupted by work. The VUio isn’t ready for release in any case, because of the aforementioned design cockup.
Other way round - films are better for audio, ceramics can be microphonic, but there's less risk of that with MLCC, and honestly it's gonna make no difference in a VU meter. You can slow down the fall-off by adding an emitter follower circuit with a capacitor and resistor on the output!
That’s why I said “apparently”; I only found contradictory opinions on the subject when I went looking. I’d like to design another pcb once I’ve experimented a lot more.
What you’re saying makes sense tho. When BigClive made his neon bell jar tree, you could hear the noise the ceramic caps made. When I made my version, the film caps ran it silently.
This is awesome Stevie !! Nice one 😎 thanks for the promo💙
What a great set of projects. The flag and rainbow look really good with the multiple LEDs for each channel. Something else for my todo list
Would certainly to have a few of these! So can i put in my vote for you to release the Gerbers / BOM etc - for a suitable remuneration of course!!!
