I use only 3/4th of the 14 ounce sweet and condensed milk. Using 3/4th of the can makes the pie base less loose and it sets up way better. I let it setup for 3 hours in the fridge or 2 hours in the freezer. After that I place only half the can of cherries on top because an entire can of cherries is way too much and way too sweet. When done this way, when you cut the pie, the cherries are not slipping and sliding off of the cream cheese base. It’ll cut just like you’re cutting a nice slice of pound cake. Nice, silky, soft and smooth in the mouth. I’ve been making this since I was 11 years old and I am in my 40’s now.
Thank you thank you thank you! I just again made this pie and it did not set… so elusive! I just tried with all ingredients and mixing bowl cold… didn’t help. I think what you wrote is spot on: less condensed milk, and less cherries putting pressure on the filling. Another comment says to use 1/2c of lemon juice… maybe that made more of a reaction for a firmer set?? I’m 46 and my mom made this for us all the time. Now I make for her and bring it to the home.
I am just loving your videos. You and your wife are such a joy. I live in Pittsburg and love cooking shows. Yours is one of the best. God Bless you both.
I have been making Cherry Cream Cheesecake since 1974! Buy ready Graham Cracker crust. Pie filling 1 can condensed milk, 1 block cream cheese, 1/3 c lemon juice & 1 tsp vanilla extract. Mix & pour into GC Crust, refrigerate for a couple hours. Top with 1 can cherry topping! Everyone begs for it every holiday!
I have such a vivid memory of my mom finding this recipe in a magazine ad and when she made it for the first time. It was called Cherry-O. Cream Cheese Pie. It became a family favorite
Everything you are using, and even the brand names, is precisely correct, and of course, the lump-free mixing technique is spot on. Thank you; this makes me so happy. My mother would make one just for me during the Christmas holidays with less cause I love the cream cheese best. And yes, Comstock cherry pie filling is the best topping and traditional to my childhood memories. I am making one now after seeing your excellent video. Thank you for sharing and bringing back childhood memories. Jonathan
When I smell certain foods cooking it evokes many memories for me from the past with my parents and grandparents, or certain events from years ago. Yes it is a wonderful thing….my youngest son loves cherry cheesecake, and whenever I make it, it takes me back to when the boys were teenagers, and laughter in the kitchen.
I've been making this exact recipe since the early 1970's except I use almond extract rather than vanilla. Same for a baked cherry pie. There is no substitute for almond extract when using cherries! Also, be very sure to STIR in the lemon juice and flavoring. Otherwise the pie will not set. Love your channel and, being from KY myself (but living in TX) I am trying many of your recipes!!!
Watching you cook reminds me if my Mama. She passed away in December 2009. She was a wonderful cook. She never taught me because we found out when I was 11 or 12 that I am an epileptic. I don't think she wanted me to get burned on the stove top of I had a seizure. Thank you for all your wonderful recipes.
I have been baking with my grandchildren for years. They are now 21 and 16. Recently some of your recipes. They make good food taste better, but the memories are priceless. My grandson wanted to make baklava, I had never made it but we did it. He took a dish to college with him to share with his friends.
We LOVE that you all made the baklava and he took it back to college with him! That has made our morning! We’re actually driving to our daughter’s house right now and I read your comment to Tom. We are so glad you made sweet memories together and shared it with us. Hope his friends love the baklava!
I have got to stop watching you guys, my mouth is watering!! I love the memory of my Mom, bringing me a piece of this pie home to me , from a church dinner, that she was a part of. I don't know whether to cry or make one now, myself. Thanks so much.
The pie didn’t set up, but I don’t know how it would. I would prefer to make the one with eggs and bake it, but yours looks very tasty. A hint, when you use the pre made graham cracker crust, on the back of the paper it suggests to bake the crust before you fill it. That is for when you are not making a baked pie. It is not necessary, but it does make a difference. I love your videos and how organized you are.
This was my husband's favoritce pie. Been making this for over 50 years and the only difference is i use 1/2 cup lemon juice ; all other ingredients are the same. Glad you love it too.
My Mom used to make this dessert & cherry pies when I was younger back in the 60's as my Dad loved them. She always added a teaspoon of almond flavoring to them she said it cut the tartness of the cherries & boy did it taste yummy. Made me think of her & how she loved the holidays. Also she also would brush her cream pies with egg white before baking & it kept the crust from becoming soggy. Actually there really wasn't much left to get soggy, lol. Enjoy your videos & your leftyness as both of my boys are leftys.
Hi Tom/Chris and Melissa.. this recipe brought back memories of my mother.. She made these pies often and always with cherry pie filling.. Thanks for the reminder and it made me smile !… Don’t Forget To Put A Lid On It !
I love how you don’t want to leave any little bit behind!! It used to bug me when I would watch these professional cooks left stuff behind. I mean seriously… how could they do that?!?! So get it all in there!!! All your recipes are fun to watch!!!
My Deddy use to make this for me all the time as a kid. Sadly, in February he lost his battle with cancer. 😢🥺💔 Thank you for doing this video, you remind me of him 🥺
Yeah, baby! Nobody knows what I'm talking about when I mention this pie. This has been my all-time favorite dessert since I was a kidlet in the '60s! Mom would make three of these for the days she hosted her Bridge Club ladies. She used vanilla and almond extract. The extra pie was for us 😀 because there would never be any leftovers from the ladies card playing. I still make it on occasion and I make the crust extra thick because that's the way we like it, lol! Your channel is wonderful! ❤
Replying to myself. A strong cup of coffee/cream with this pie is incredible. I use semisweet chocolate chips when I can't find the pie filling - it can be hard to find where I am. It's gooooood, too, but the cherries are the best.
When I use cherry pie filling, I always stir in 1 tablespoons sugar & 1 teaspoon of almond extract per can. U would be surprised how good it tastes. Yes I have also made this pie for probably the same amount of years. I’m 76. I also make pumpkin pie with egg nog in place of canned milk. Just sayin 😊
I’m sure enjoying all your videos I’m 63 and can’t do anything but sit around because I had a bad knee replacement I have a concrete spacer in my knee waiting to get a titanium knee put in been sitting for 15 weeks I’d appreciate Prayers, I’m use to being up working for our church I’m the main cook haven’t got to go to church for 16 weeks, that’s rough Thanks and God Bless
I hope things get better for you real soon!!! I’ve had a bad surgery and I totally understand having to sit and not being able to do the things you used to be able to do…it’s a horrible feeling. I’m sorry you’re in that place, blessings to you!! ❤
I'm putting you on my prayer list. I'm 77 and waited over a year and a half for two much needed surgeries. Finally called the doctors office every two hours. On the 2nd day she got busy and scheduled both surgeries for the same day. Have not had a pain since. I'm wishing you the best. May God grant you the same results.
I used to make a pie in summer with eagle Brand Sweetened Condensed milk and the juice of three lemons. Mix well with a spoon. Stir in one 20 oz. can crushed pineapple in its own juice but WELL drained. Pour into a pre baked 9" crust or graham cracker crust, chill in refrigerator for several hours. Top with cool whip or homemade whipped cream. I have always baked the store bought graham cracker crust for any pie...it makes it just a bit crisper and adds a bit of extra flavor...about 10 to 1 minutes at 350 degrees, allow to cool completely before adding filling. I think you will enjoy this pie as much as I enjoy your cherry cheese pie. NOTE: Well drained pineapple is important so the mixture sets up nice to slice.
Hi Tom and Melissa! I love cheesecake ❤ but I’m not a fan of graham cracker crust. I would rather have a short cake crust and I think it tastes better. I love watching your videos and making your recipes. Thank you’ens for sharing! ❤
You’re right- cream cheese and fruit are a winning combination! And technically if I hadn’t corrected the year he would have implied he’s ten years older than he really is! 😀 We appreciate you watching our videos. Merry Christmas!
Yummy!!! Salivating on my phone watching this (in my imagination). Lol Another winner...love how easy your recipes are, especially since I can be a kid in the kitchen. 😊
We made the cherry pie last night and had it for breakfast this morning. It was very yummy and will become a staple recipe in our holiday menu. Thank you for a delicious and easy recipe, God Bless.
This looks delicious! You’re correct about foods and memories. My grandmother made a variation of this dessert for our family gatherings and I loved it so much as a kid she’d make me one to take home. Her recipe used cream cheese, Cool Whip, and sugar along with the cherry pie filling. I’m going to give this one a try!
That is the one I make too. I also stir a bit of Almond extract in the cherry filling before putting it on top. My MIL taught me that, cherry and almond go together.
I make this same pie and yes it’s sooooo tasty:) My special memory is my daddy loved to make fruit salad every Thanksgiving and Christmas:) We made it with real whipping cream made from scratch from mandarin oranges to the cherries to the apples to all the fruit. Such special memories i’ll never forget.:) tfs and Merry Christmas:) God bless:)
We love to read stories of how people connect with a lovely memory through special food recipes. Thanks so much for sharing one of yours. We hope you have a very Merry Christmas!
My dad always had eggnog around the holidays too as soon as they put it in the store.😂 Thank you for sharing your wonderful recipes and stories with us! Definitely making this one TOO!😂
This sure does look delicious. But all your stuff looks so good. I think if i make this even in a single pan i would make the crust homemade. I never have much luck with store bought ones. They are hard to get out of the pan. Thank you for the recipe.😊
I’m not a huge cherry fan either but in a few desserts it’s the go to fruit. Cherry cheese pie, chocolate cherry cobbler, maybe even chocolate cherry chess pie Maybe do chocolate graham crackers and little bit of cocoa powder to the cream cheese mixture

Looks delicious! Have you ever tried using the sugar free variety of sweetened condensed milk? I’ve used it in several recipes with excellent results. Great way to reduce the sugar calories! 😋
Melissa can i take tom home with me to cook all the delicious food he makes, Oh and you can come with him too, I'm 77 and love your recipes and with the best instructions, wish I would have known these when I was younger, had a lot, of mistakes learning, had to teach myself, you both are very lucky you can tell you and Tom love each Other very much, your both so very much Blessed.

Looks delicious. I pour hot coffee in the condensed milk can. LOL. Gets every drop and it's oh so good, but then, I love sweet coffee.
The cool thing about this pie, if you don't have cherries on hand, blueberry or strawberry works good too. So easy to make . Thanks for your videos.
I’m so thankful to the Lord for giving us the ability of memories. They are so precious.

Yummy!!!

I have made this many times before. This is always sooooo gooood! Have a good day. 🌻🌼
Love you guys channel. Gonna make this today!
My daughter, who is 54, had to have this for her birthday every year and even now I don’t have to ask.
Love it looks so good! I want to make this.🥧👍😊
That’s OK Tom, if you don’t like cherries pass them on to me I absolutely love cherries anything cherries
Yummy❤
It is such a great recipe and even though we tend to make it more around the holiday season, it would be very refreshing at this time of year, too.
Hi , I make this , but I use the Oreo Crust . When you use that in combination with the Cherries on top , it is sooo… good ! Always a Crowd Pleaser !
Thanks for that idea. It does soung great.😊
I make this same pie and yes it’s sooooo tasty:) My special memory is my daddy loved to make fruit salad every Thanksgiving and Christmas:) We made it with real whipping cream made from scratch from mandarin oranges to the cherries to the apples to all the fruit. Such special memories i’ll never forget.:) tfs and Merry Christmas:) God bless:)

Thank you for sharing your wonderful recipes and stories with us! Definitely making this one TOO!😂
I think I'll start making eggnog in the next day or two. Also a bread pudding with bourbon sauce soon
I made it with you this afternoon. Waiting for the husband to come down and cut it. I already know it'll be delicious 😋. Thank you
Thanks
This sure does look delicious. But all your stuff looks so good. I think if i make this even in a single pan i would make the crust homemade. I never have much luck with store bought ones. They are hard to get out of the pan. Thank you for the recipe.😊
Hmm, chocolate seems to be my favorite fruit, like a chocolate cobbler😅
YES SHARE BABY SHARE !!!
I’m not a huge cherry fan either but in a few desserts it’s the go to fruit. Cherry cheese pie, chocolate cherry cobbler, maybe even chocolate cherry chess pie
Maybe do chocolate graham crackers and little bit of cocoa powder to the cream cheese mixture
Lots of good ideas! Enjoy the dessert and merry Christmas!

I love the recipes yall share!!♥️ recipes take me back, always!! 💓💓💓 beautiful memories!!🙏🏻🥧😋 btw, what's in the crock pot??👀👀
The BBQ pork for the recipe right in front of this one is what’s in the crock pot.
We’re so glad yo have you watching our videos.
The cherries are pretty on the pie. What little green leaf could I use on it to look even more like Christmas?
We’d suggest mint!
Looks sooo good but I'm dying to know what was in your crock pot - lol!
The BBQ pork for the sliders in the recipe right before this one is in the crockpot.

Tom its so Christmasy i would top with flaked thin flat almonds on top alittle crunch huh
Do you ever use PURE vanilla extract? The flavor is worth the price!!
What is cooking in your slow cooker?
There is no need to slowly add the condensed milk. Just takes longer is all that happens.
I do slowly. Whatever floats your boat 😊

That looks good but do you have a sugar cookie recipe and oatmeal cookies recipe
Cherry cheesecake
If you take the lemon Juice head it up and add 1 package of Knox Gelatin then add to cream cheese it will make stable and thicken it...
How do you make eggnog?
My hubby and I are trying to be careful of our cholesterol and blood sugar and this time of year it just isn't going to happen. But we'll can get back on it next year!😂🎉👌
This was my fathers favorite pie but we made it with 2 8oz cream cheese,
We always called cherry O cream pie.
Is this what we used to call Cherry o cream cheese pies?
Why is cherry cheese pie has different ingredients from
The frozen pie?
Hi is this a cheesecake or entirely different
It’s not baked like cheesecakes are. It’s softer than a cheesecake.
