Show me ONE skater who has the guts to attempt a sequence of "double cross rolls - back counter turn - triple Axel - twizzle - illusion sit spin - step sequence - combo spin" in a short program KNOWING that if you mess up that Axel, the sit spin is automatically gone too, because the entire rest of the program is already occupied by the step sequence and the final spin with no recovery space in between. That means, he is 100% sure that he lands that Axel with enough speed to go into the sit spin and NOT let those 4 points slip. He is absolutely insane for this. This enormous risk alone deserves a 10.00 in transitions if successful. Let alone the ridiculous total of only 6 crossovers.
The current scoring system unfortunately does not reflect the true difficulty of Yuzu's programs. Other skaters may be able to jump more quads than him, but they are still a long way from equaling his mastery in all the other components of the sport.
In World's 2022, a skater (I think was Vincent Zhou? Or Yuma, not 100% sure) attempted an Ina Bauer-triple axel combo just like how Yuzu does it.... and failed. There’s certain difficulty in skating with a quiet music. You can’t just have grand gestures bc it wouldn’t match with the sound, but also you dont want to have a boring performance. And Yuzuru truly mastered his craft he’s able to balance his technique with whatever music.
The entrance and exit of that 3A are really divine. He's not jumping and skating, he's creating art with his body. Breathtaking, always. Even with popped jumps or falls.
As the pianist Shinya Kiyozuka said, Yuzuru is not merely expressing the music but playing and conducting the music with him. The most technically complex, richly musical and artistic short program in figure skating history. A tribute to both figure skating and music itself. I could go on about details: the grand total of six crossovers, the way his jumps are entries into his spins, which are entries to his steps. The way every note is captured and expressed through every line of his body, down to the fingertips. Yuzuru said he was looking for a program that only he can skate, and he found it in Rondo Capricciosio. Will forever mourn the misfortune of the hole in the ice and the subsequent chain of misfortunes it triggered but it's a testament to Yuzuru's growth this past quad that the rest of the program barely wavered, despite the heartbreak, shock and incredulity that we felt during the program surely magnified a thousand times in him. As for the judges who withheld GOE and PCS even here, they are arrogant to think they will see another Yuzuru Hanyu in their lifetime.
@@theepicchipmunk2011 Isn't he amazing that if you don't really know the program, you can't even notice he missed a jump due to getting caught in a hole when took off his jump.

He pulls you into his performance and that’s the thing. It doesn’t look like he’s competing, he’s performing. Nearly nobody can match his artistry.
I know quite a few people tend to watch/rewatch his short program Rondo from japanese nationals over his Beijing one only due to the fact they know about the hole in the ice at the olympics and it's kind of traumatizing to know what lies ahead when you start playing the video. I know that many people and Yuzu himself consider his 4th place as a failure (after 2 gold medals it is understandable) but if you think about it realistically, he proved that he is still incredibly strong. It was his first international competition this season, and he was training alone and with injury and 4A attempt which took a lot of his strength, he still performed incredibly, landed perfect quads and was 3d in FS and 4th overall ( with being unlucky during short). Many many great skaters can't achieve that even in their best shape. Many people consider him not human but he is(really hard working and talented) but just a human. He doesn't have to prove anything and his heath is a priority, but I really think he can continue competing.

The program with full of step sq. and difficult transitions in and out, no long boring cross over before jump. So shame that the score can't reflect his greatness enough.
The amount of pressure he's under, to even just get on the ice and perform is astonishing. And for him to do it while injured, after popping his jump and still finishing in 4th is just outstanding.
Moreover, the Rippon variation with the 3T was a novelty, different from the one we saw from JNats 2021. I like how even though he repeats his programs a lot, he always adds subtle, innovative modifications like this one to enhance the interpretation of each new rendition.
That 3A landed with one arm was super cool. I bet there were just a few people noticed it. Yuzu knew there won’t any credits for this difficult attempt(it’s really hard to balance without the other arm when you land ) and yet he still did it because it’s beautiful. That’s what makes yuzuru’s skating yuzuru.

His quad toe triple toe combination was practically the best 4T+3T ever jumped in history, deserving of straight +5 GOE yet a judge gave it 3/5. He was so underscored that even if he landed 4S perfectly and got +4/5 GOE, his score would've been around 108, which is several points below what his clean short programs normally get and deserve. It doesn't have 4lo or 4lz 🤔 but the footwork is the most complex for sure. A grand total of 6 crossovers!!
@@lobaetoile8440 lol, you need to teach yourself about the elements used in this 6-crossover short program to understand the difficulty level and transitions used before speaking cause ignorance is really embarrassing.
@@mikam8078 You are such an arrogant person, assuming that I don't know anything, just because I disagreed with you. Anyways, I have no interest on having a debate with you if you're going to look down on me.
@@lobaetoile8440 yeah you obviously know nothing it's not hard to guess, someone already mentioned this here bring me one skater who does double cross rolls, back counter 3A twizzle illusion spin - step sequence combo spin then speak
@@mikam8078 coming after 2 months to see if he has found another skater that can do that.
Seems the answer is NO!
He's the brightest star of figure skating world, he's one of a kind
GOAT
"Whatever Yuzuru Hanyu does is phenomenal, is amazing, is by the book, and beautiful"
He's not skating to music, he's the music 🎶
He was he is and he will be the greatest athlete of all time. His achievements are much more then a gold medal.
Thật tuyệt vời
Everyone does have a bad day but not everyone's bad day is a masterpiece.
I am mesmerized by his skating
The program with full of step sq. and difficult transitions in and out, no long boring cross over before jump. So shame that the score can't reflect his greatness enough.
The amount of pressure he's under, to even just get on the ice and perform is astonishing. And for him to do it while injured, after popping his jump and still finishing in 4th is just outstanding.
can't get over how perfect that 4T+3T was
Moreover, the Rippon variation with the 3T was a novelty, different from the one we saw from JNats 2021. I like how even though he repeats his programs a lot, he always adds subtle, innovative modifications like this one to enhance the interpretation of each new rendition.
The only skater whom I can feel the deep connection with ice.
That 3A landed with one arm was super cool. I bet there were just a few people noticed it. Yuzu knew there won’t any credits for this difficult attempt(it’s really hard to balance without the other arm when you land ) and yet he still did it because it’s beautiful. That’s what makes yuzuru’s skating yuzuru.
what second?

His skating has a power that heals. Yuzuru, you are one of a kind skater, you can never be replaced.
So unfortunate that he came across the ice hole in the first jump😞. The elegance and beauty of Yuzu’s skating is far above his competitors. GOAT.
I'm still here watching Yuzuru Hanyu and still mesmerized 💖💖
Truly the greatest of all time. Being at the competitive field in 18 years and still at the top
i hope he knows that people will also remember the yuzuru hanyu from the olympics 2022 in beijing
The fact that he is so underscored makes me sad. This was an amazing performance and he was elegant.
He was over scored lol with the missed jump and mistepped landing of his triple axel. It’s crazy even if Hanyu skates cleanly, Nathan Chen would still be the leader after the short
@@Jacobeeez Yikes, your comment history on this channel is full of bad takes on Yuzu's videos, troll alert. If you hate him get a hobby and don't camp under his videos to write lies. His axel was perfect. He missed the salchow but everything afterwards was flawless. If you want to talk about Nathan go to his video, his empty jumpfest wouldn't have broken 101 if it weren't for USA overscoring, you're not welcome here.
@@starlightsall lol wow are you saying you are better than the professional judges? A bias Hanyu fan? 😂
@@Jacobeeez Suuuuure, because the judges are pros who are so trustworthy, honest, knowledgeable and totally not corrupt. You know those judges score Shcherbakova's "4Lz" as high as your beloved Chen's? lol. Nicely failed argument buddy.
The difficulty of this program shows why nobody can reach Yuzuru's level yet. He has delivered clean short program at Nationals and shows he is capable of doing so. Sadly the salchow didn't go well this time, but the performance as a complete package program was mesmerizing. He is the skater that shows the potential of figures skating as an art based on technical power.
If you didn't know that he popped a jump, the performance looks flawless.
This is how figure skating should look like. Yuzuru Hanyu is the soul of this sport. The G.O.A.T 👏🏻
The best thing that happened in 2022 so far: got to know Yuzuru and became a fanyu. I feel so inspired by him and love his every single performance!
Welcome to the family!
❤️🤗
@@tonya--7704 Thanksss 💖
@@turtlefeesh Trueee. Ngl if it was not because the Winter Olympics was in BJ this year, I probably would never watch a single figure-skating competition :( But I'm really glad that I did! It's also fun to learn some basic figure skating theories!
Me too, just met Yuzu this Olympics. I saw on headline news back in 2014 that he won Olympic gold and thought 'Oh, Brian Orser coached the winner again and this time, it's a very young boy.' I didnt think to check him out..my loss evidently.
@@ChriseyApple Haha I barely knew anything about figure skating before this Olympics. Have heard about Yuzuru since he has a quite big fan base in China and one of my classmates in uni is a fan of him, but I had never checked his performance/competition until the Gala in this winter Olympics.
so much mental strength was needed to finish this program after the unfortunate pop and he truly did it 🥺 such a goated program, he's the best of all time 🫂
MERAVIGLIOSO YUZURU N 1
Yuzu, your presence is a gold medal.
Already cemented himself as a legend and still has the motivation to skate on the Top Level. Really only the Greatest Male Figure Skater Of All Time.
yo i found you again
Yuzuru really is unparalleled in just every aspect of figure skating, one of a kind. There is no one, no other single skater can skate this mesmerizing program...just the step sequence will drive them crazy. Actually I think there is no one today can even skate Yuzuru's Romeo & Juliet at 2012 WC. Every time you watch his performance you can just refresh your understanding of the commentary to Yuzuru: "There are figure skaters, and then there's Yuzuru Hanyu."
completely agree
I love it including Salchow.
To those who were wondering why Yuzuru didn't spin and jump instead, there was a huge hole that messed up his spin.
Magical 3A. He exited it with one extended arm only!!!! this is a change for Olympic, not a move he did at JPNs
Didn’t notice that.
But The GOE didn’t get affected by it….Which is so sad….
@@sho0508 I think the judges didnt even know how to score as they never seen that before..
2:17 I didn't notice until I read some twts.
this step sequence is so superior
Like he’s creating art piece more than sport competition
The legend of figure skating, that's what he is!
It feels like he’s conducting an orchestra, as if the music is following him not him following the music. It’s amazing
And as if he’s skating in the clouds, not frozen water.
one of the most difficult short programs ever, and he did it with such style and elegance, a unfortunate mistake notwithstanding.
the most captivating and beautiful skater
skate like floating.. his control of the ice is unbelievable..
