I randomly encountered Nathan at a cafe in NY, and was so starstruck as a fangirl of him for years and could only say “I watched your performance a lot on TH-cam. ” when I finally spoke to him. So embarrassing but he was so sweet took a photo with me!
Love the way the Japanese skaters applauded Nathan's performance. Now that is sportsmanship!!! Nathan Chen saw a sports psychologist who emphasized that he should go out to the skating rink and enjoy himself and not concentrate on winning. In the 2018 Winter Olympics Nathan admitted that he was concentrating on winning and the pressure affected his performance. Look at his 2022 performance and notice how relaxed he appeared and he even smiled during the middle of the program. Hope to see him back in 2026 after he finishes his degree at Yale. His loving mother believed in his son and sacrificed so much for him. She is really a humble person and wore plain clothing and no make-up when she surprised her son at the Today show.
Japanese are the nicest people on the planet, except for one thing, most of them don’t speak English… the Japanese fans love Nathan, and I’m quite sure the Fanyus who attack Nathan are not the Japanese fans…
He had something in his program that none of the other skaters did, you could tell he was having fun and enjoying himself. All the others looked too serious.
It’s been 20 years since Nathan started at age 3, and he already went to two Olympics, leaving the sport with an Olympic gold and at his peak is most appropriate in my humble opinion. After receiving his degree at Yale, I think he is ready to move on to preparing for something even bigger, like the President of the United States.

Imagine how he suffered a disastrous short program at the 2018 Winter Olympics, expected to win but finished 4th, in front of the entire world. Had to wait four long years, through hard work, sweat and tears, attending school at Yale (!), then a defeat at Skate America just a few months before these Olympics (which could’ve shaken his confidence)….YET overcomes all these struggles to make it back to another Winter Olympic Games, this time battling three extremely talented Japanese skaters, and finally WINNING the GOLD with two outstanding performances in the short and long programs! Nathan Chen is simply REMARKABLE.
It’s definitely Nathan’s season…. I still get goosebumps no matter how many times I watched it.. I’m a huge Hanyu fan but this performance from Nathan is just really awe inspiring… He’s definitley enjoying himself…
Until this performace, Hanyu's long in Helsinki was the best I'd ever seen. But I can't believe this performance by Nathan will be bettered in my lifetime.
Brilliantly skated, all the power of his jumps plus artistry and just plain FUN ! I love to revisit Nathan's Olympic and other performances and celebrate not only his work on the ice but also off-ice work in replacing negative thoughts with positive ones and regaining his joy on the ice.

I’m the biggest Nathan Chen fan in the world but give props to the three wonderful Japanese skaters when they were shown clapping for Nathan. The Japanese are so polite and full of class.
The Japanese skaters might be gracious, but a LOT of their fans aren't. Watch how many times in videos the Fanyu's do not applaud for Nathan after his fantastic performances. In many of the competitions, especially in Japan, Nathan's applause was tepid compared to Hanyu's. It's fine that the Japanese would applaud more and be louder for Hanyu, but the difference between the two was striking and, in my opinion, poor sportsmanship on behalf of those people who did not also applaud for Nathan.
I think I've watched Nathans free skate at least a hundred times and every time it gets suggested to me or pops up in my timelines I always watch it again 😍👏⛸🥇 ABSOLUTE PERFECTION 👏👏👏👏👏👏🙌

Nathan Finally winning his Olympic Gold Medal was the best moment for me watching these games. And him doing it with a record breaking short program, which gave him another record to his name was just amazing. He without any doubt whatsoever is the absolute best.
I haven't watched skating in a while, but weirdly, Sarah Hughes' skate that won her the gold in Salt Lake came up yesterday, and this one came up today for me. I remember leading up to this, people compared Nathan to Michelle Kwan, with all of the weight of expectation coupled with a (perceived) failure in Pyeongchang (I maintain that he kind of needed to implode to rebuild, but that's for another day). However, when I watch this, I see the same freedom that Sarah Hughes had that made her so great in that long program. Unlike Nathan, she really WASN'T the best skater in that competition, but I remember watching it live...that kid had JOY. She was there to skate her best in the Olympics, and did it. She skated like she had nothing to lose. It was awesome to watch her. But Nathan is next level because he WAS the best. This program really stands out among all the other classical and pop music while pushing artistic boundaries. He is the only one who got standing ovation from the whole audience!
Agreed! I normally don't care for hip hop music but it fit so perfectly with this routine. A number of people I know who normally don't care to watch figure skating saw this video and excitedly said ""He's great. Are all skating routines like this?"
@@bereasonable8018 I would say that this is quite revolutionary and really pushing artistic boundaries for figure skating. Glad to hear that people seem more interested in figure skating now because of this😊
the GRIN on nathan's face! ik a lot of people were dissatisfied w this performance in favor of others, but i just can't see how you'd miss out of the excellent energy here! nathan chen handled this unique performance amazingly; none had me on the edge of my seat, or gave me chills like this one!! what a memorable performance to have me coming back to watch it again after so long!!!
SO well-deserved. I don't know why NBC took most of their Olympic skating videos down. Before the Olympics was even over, Nathan's SP video had over 4.5 million views, and his LP video had over 6 million views!
I have watched this video over 100 times. Because it makes me smile. The grace and artistry, the beautiful footwork, and most amazing the choreography. The best match of movements to the music and such a wonderful set of different styles. Including facial expression. Oh, and of course, not to mention the jumps. Icing on the cake.

His jumps and routine is so in sync with the music. I love the surprise switch to hip hop music and moves. So much swag and style!
Glad to hear that people seem more interested in figure skating now because of this😊
Agreed!
It’s a hip hop version of a well-known classic rock song.
his taste in art genres are superb!
Nathan is the best 🔥!
i'll never get tired of this 😻
bravooooo Nathan Chen...😃❤🧡💚💙💜👍👍👍👍👍👍
I love his little celebration dance 🕺
Beautifully done.
Such a lovely performance. I feel the joy and delight in your program. ❤️

the GRIN on nathan's face! ik a lot of people were dissatisfied w this performance in favor of others, but i just can't see how you'd miss out of the excellent energy here! nathan chen handled this unique performance amazingly; none had me on the edge of my seat, or gave me chills like this one!! what a memorable performance to have me coming back to watch it again after so long!!!
O🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Congratulations 🎉 to Nathan Chen for winning the gold medal ! He really looks like he’s enjoying himself here 😊
I haven’t watched this video for 3 months and watched again today, I still got goosebumps and am totally touched 😭
SO well-deserved. I don't know why NBC took most of their Olympic skating videos down. Before the Olympics was even over, Nathan's SP video had over 4.5 million views, and his LP video had over 6 million views!
I was so mad that I couldn’t find Nathan’s videos
Lawsuits over the music
@@fivecatlife8600 but Nathan's was applauded by artists that owned music rights
@@donnal.padilla4336 🤷♂️
@@fivecatlife8600 No, more like NBC’s greed, wanting people to pay for viewing on their website
Nathan chen、金メダルおめでとうございます❤️
獲るべき人が獲れて本当に良かった。
ただただ幸せ
That Quad Lutz is so high I just go "YES!" Everytime Nathan does it! Its the hardest jump until you get to the axel. Way to go Nathan!
He really enjoyed himself! 💕💕 congratulations!!!
Magnificent! Thank you for all your hard work and for thrilling us with the results, Nathan Chen!
I have never see anything more impressive in my life

In the 4 years from 2018 to 2022, all athletes are under tremendous pressure, not only Nathan Chen, but all athletes have to participate in various competitions, strive for the opportunity enter the Olympic and compete with outstanding athletes from all over the world. Nathan since 2018 he is unbeatable invincible athlete star.💫🌟🥇⭐️
I am so happy this is posted! Thank you!🥰. I was wondering why they took down the video of Nathan’s Olympic performance from two weeks ago. I got to watch this again and again for years to come. I hope he will start performing more on TV show or movies about figure skating. I will buy tickets.
