    This man was a true "diamond in the rough!" People was commenting on another video about what a bad thing his drinking was, but this is 3 years before he died at 81, and he still embraces his vices! May the sweet soul of this old gentleman live on forever!

    I first met Peter in 1988 and, over the next 25yrs, got to know him rather well.
    You'd be forgiven for thinking that conversations like this took place on a regular basis. But they did not.
    In fact, contrary to popular belief, Peter, although he did drink to excess at times, especially in the early years, was very rarely the mess he purported to be. He was a quiet, extremely organised man, who was at his happiest having a raucous night... pretending to be incapably drunk, when in fact, he'd switched to softer drinks hours before.
    That's not to say these anecdotal events never took place, because they did. It's just they took place with slightly less alcohol on Peter's side than he had people believe. Even those he was with at the time.
    To say Peter was a was warm, genuine and unbelievably thoughtful man, is to woefully underestimate him. He was truly one of a kind and I will always be grateful for his friendship.

    Possibly the most dashing man who ever lived, and a great deal more of a friend and a gentleman than, say, Errol Flynn. A genuine prince of Ireland.

    There was never a sense that O’Toole had missed out on any mischief or debauchery. 😂 Conversely he adored Kate Hepburn, who occasionally threw a punch at him. He named his daughter after her. What a marvelous life.

    I'm sure Richard and Peter and the other Richard and Oliver didn't mind being called hellraisers, mainly because there was no denying it. But in all truth and with special regard to O'Toole, Harris and Burton, they were spectacularly good at their job.

    Christopher Hitchens wrote once about a secret daytime bar he used to attend as a Fleet Street writer when bars had to close during the day. Apparently Peter used to go there often.
